Politically correct ideology is masking and contributing to the widespread failure of our institutions.

We know the nature of mass hysterias in history, and how they can overwhelm and paralyze what seem to be stable societies.

We know the roots and origins of the cult of wokeness.

And we know, too, how such insanity—from the Salem witch trials to Jacobinism to McCarthyism—can spread, despite alienating most of the population, through fear and the threat of personal ruin or worse. These are the dark sides of the tulip, hula-hoop, and pet-rock fads, the mass obsessions so suited to past affluent Western societies.

But does wokeism serve another purpose as well? Specifically, does it either hide preexisting incompetence or fuel it?

Report: FBI Used Young Female Staffers As Bait For Sex Predators And Told Them To Keep It Hush

 

A Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General report found that FBI special agents asked female support staff employees to provide photos for online undercover operations without any oversight. One special agent used the photographs of female employees to pose as underage girls without informing their supervisors and without documenting which sites the photos were uploaded to, according to the report.

The spectacle of Laurel Hubbard is an insult to women & the media deserve a medal for their breathtaking dishonesty.

The media are going for Olympic gold in the truth slalom, skilfully swerving around uncomfortable facts and deftly dodging their duties to their audiences.

Take journalist Joshua Surtees’ gushing profile of 43-year-old male weightlifter Laurel Hubbard for the BBC. After nearly 20 years competing against men, Hubbard retired from male sport, declared himself trans, shifted to the women’s category and then qualified for the Olympics. Astoundingly, this is allowed under International Olympic Committee (IOC) guidelines. These permit males to compete in female events if they have identified as transgender for four years and have testosterone levels below 10 nanomoles for a minimum of 12 months (the average testosterone level for women ranges from 0.3 to 2.4 nanomoles per litre).

Did the New York Times stifle lab leak debate because of its commercial relationships with China?

The world’s verdict on the lab leak seems to be shifting. The Biden Administration now thinks there is a credible possibility that Covid-19 leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. WHO chief Tedros Adhanome Ghebreyesus has admitted that attempts to dismiss the hypothesis were “premature”. These are, of course, positive developments — but they should also leave us astounded.

Generally going into the Olympics, Americans are usually pretty enthused to root on the American athletes.

But this year, not only was enthusiasm lacking with the absence of an audience for the events, Americans felt split in their support for U.S. athletes who were representing us but weren’t being supportive of the country. The viewing audience for the Olympics has cratered, in part, because of those politics. The Olympics previously forbid political displays. Indeed, that was supposed to be the whole idea behind the Olympics, to meet on the field of sport in fair competition, without politics. Now they’re allowing it and it’s coming back to bite them.

When tyranny surpasses progress.

In the United States of Woke, a futuristic dystopia where “progressives” run amok, the widespread use of air conditioning likely would be banned, even in the midst of summer’s oppressive heat and humidity.

Why? Because air conditioning not only threatens Mother Earth. It represents racism and “white supremacy,” which means it contradicts social, economic and environmental justice.

War crimes trial could cast harsh light on Iran’s new president

The war crimes trial in Sweden of a former Iranian official could reveal further damaging details about the role played in the mass execution of prisoners 30 years ago by Iran’s president-elect, Ebrahim Raisi, barely a week after his inauguration.

Hamid Noury, 60, was charged last week with “war crimes and murder” over the killings of more than 100 armed opponents and political prisoners during the final year of the 1980-1988 war between Iran and Iraq.

Noury’s trial is due to start on 10 August. He was arrested in Sweden in 2019 while visiting relatives.

Pentagon is using artificial intelligence to predict the future and give it ‘days of advanced warning’ on attacks on sensitive sites

The Pentagon is stealing a page from Minority Report with an experimental artificial-intelligence program that can look ‘days in advance’ and predict possible attacks on vulnerable locations.

The Global Information Dominance Experiments, or GIDE, use machine learning to sift through vast amounts of data to notice tiny changes that humans might miss – such as the number of cars increasing or decreasing in a parking lot – which might indicate an evolving threat.

The program can then alert human agents who can take a closer look at the location.

First it was Afghanistan that was abandoned to its fate. Now U.S. President Joe Biden is set to embark upon an equally risky undertaking by announcing the end of American combat operations in Iraq by the year’s end.

In between times, Biden has effectively undermined the security of eastern Europe — with potentially serious implications for NATO — by agreeing to a deal with Angela Merkel, Germany’s chancellor, to complete the controversial Nord Stream 2 pipeline. Completion of the pipeline will end the Kremlin’s reliance on states in eastern and central Europe for transit rights to maintain energy supplies to the West, thereby providing Moscow an opportunity to intensify its meddling in their affairs.

But is this true?

WARMINGTON: Councillor calls for city to scrap ActiveTO

It has taken a Ford to call for the “end” of the ActiveTO program that frees up some Toronto roadways for runners and cyclists, but snarls traffic elsewhere.

It was like late mayor Rob Ford dropped in from heaven to drop a bomb on the woke Toronto political scene. Or to inject some long overdue, much-needed common sense into the debate.

To be honest I avoid going to downtown Toronto by any means unless compelled to so the traffic snarls are not a personal issue.

The people most inconvenienced likely voted for both Trudeau and Tory. Boo Hoo!

There are permanent Bike Lanes in front of my condo and I am not exaggerating when I say I have rarely seen a cyclist use them.

This sort of crap is so Toronto. “The few can feck over the many” should be the city motto.

Vice President Kamala Harris has only been in office for six months, but she is already the most unpopular vice president since at least the 1970s, according to recent polls.

The Los Angeles Times on Monday reported that as of July 27, “5% of registered voters had a favorable opinion of Harris and 48% had an unfavorable opinion — a net rating of -3 percentage points, according to a Times average.”
