Ontario is reporting 130 new COVID-19 cases today and no new deaths as the seven-day average continues to decline week-over-week.

Today’s case count is down from 146 on Sunday but up slightly from the 114 new infections confirmed one week ago.

TOKYO — Toyota won’t be airing any Olympic-themed advertisements on Japanese television during the Tokyo Games despite being one of the IOC’s top corporate sponsors.

The extraordinary decision by the country’s top automaker underlines how polarizing the Games have become in Japan as COVID-19 infections rise ahead of Friday’s opening ceremony.

“There are many issues with these Games that are proving difficult to be understood,” Toyota Chief Communications Officer Jun Nagata told reporters Monday.

I was looking forward to the Super Spreader event too.

Kurt Westergaard, Danish cartoonist behind Muhammad cartoons, dies at 86

Kurt Westergaard, a Danish cartoonist whose caricature of the Prophet Muhammad outraged many Muslims worldwide, has died at the age of 86.

He died after a long illness, his family told the Berlingske newspaper on Sunday.

Westergaard was a cartoonist for the conservative Jyllands-Posten newspaper from the early 1980s.

He became world famous in 2005 for his controversial image of the Prophet Muhammad in the newspaper.

I did meet him briefly, Kathy was gifted a signed print of the Motoon in the photo autographed also by Geert Wilders – “To Kathy”. It hangs on our wall to this day.

China accused of cyber-attack on Microsoft Exchange servers

The UK and EU have accused China of carrying out a major cyber attack earlier this year.

The attack targeted Microsoft Exchange servers, affecting over a quarter of a million servers around the world.

The EU was the first to put out a statement saying the attack came from “the territory of China”, while the UK said Chinese state-backed actors were responsible. The US is expected to follow suit.

The countries have also said the Chinese Ministry of State Security was responsible for other espionage activity.

Homeless assaults ramp up in San Diego, leftist mayor offers idiotic solution

Every solid blue city has its horrors — from murders in Chicago, to organized thievery in San Francisco.

In San Diego, where I live, the problem is homeless attacks. Seems the homeless aren’t just unsightly, unsanitary, or famous spreaders of disease, they’re dangerous, and when you have a lot of them, you have a lot of unprovoked random assaults on law-abiding residents. The problem is out there, and too bad for those who don’t like it. San Diego’s new leftist mayor, Todd Gloria, is de facto advising the victims that he’s going to create more of it.

During the past year, there’s been more and more talk about the psychological impact of the COVID lockdown. Researchers have done studies, and among the more common ailments reported are depression, distress, PTSD, and suicidal ideation.

But I would submit that the lockdown isn’t the only thing that’s had a serious effect on our psyches of late.

Human rights activists, journalists and lawyers across the world have been targeted by authoritarian governments using hacking software sold by the Israeli surveillance company NSO Group, according to an investigation into a massive data leak.

The investigation by the Guardian and 16 other media organisations suggests widespread and continuing abuse of NSO’s hacking spyware, Pegasus, which the company insists is only intended for use against criminals and terrorists.

Pegasus is a malware that infects iPhones and Android devices to enable operators of the tool to extract messages, photos and emails, record calls and secretly activate microphones.
