Afghanistan: US military ‘days away’ from completing pull-out

The US military could complete its withdrawal from Afghanistan within days, reports say, amid increasing Taliban battlefield gains.

US officials told Reuters that some US forces were expected to stay to protect the US embassy and Kabul airport.

The reports came as a top US commander warned the country risked sliding into civil war as the last US troops leave.

Fighting has surged since the US began withdrawing last month, with the Taliban seizing swathes of territory.

Bill Cosby to walk free after court overturns sex assault conviction

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has overturned Bill Cosby’s 2019 sexual assault conviction, ruling that a “non-prosecution agreement” with a previous prosecutor should have prevented him from being charged in the case.

The 83-year-old comedian has served more than two years of a three-to-10 year sentence in a state prison in Montgomery County, after his conviction on charges he drugged and molested Temple University employee Andrea Constand in 2004.

Oxfam staff vent their anger at being asked to fill in ‘whiteness’ survey

Oxfam worker says she feels ‘under attack for being white, English and voting Leave’ as staff vent their anger at being asked to fill in ‘whiteness’ survey

An Oxfam worker said she felt ‘under attack for being white, English and voting Leave’ as staff vented their anger at being asked to fill in a racial justice survey.

Staff members in the UK were asked if they would describe themselves as non-racist, anti-racist or none/neither in the questionnaire, written by a four-person strong working group and sent to 1,800 employees.

Along with the questions – which also ask participants to state their ethnicity – the survey states that ‘all echelons of power, to some degree, exist to serve whiteness (whether by legacy, the presence of neo-colonialism or cultural imperialism)’.

Ontario reports 184 new Covid cases .. finally a haircut

Ontario reports 184 new COVID-19 cases; lowest count since Sept. 10, 2020

Ontario reported 184 new COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths on Wednesday, the lowest overall count of cases since Sept. 10, 2020, as hair salons and shopping malls opened across the province for the first time in months.

The seven-day-rolling average of new cases fell to 268, down from 283 on Tuesday.

Ontario rolls back COVID-19 restrictions to allow personal care services, indoor gatherings today

Public health restrictions on businesses and gatherings are rolling back further in Ontario today.

The province moved into the second step of its economic reopening plan at 12:01 a.m.

That means hair salons and similar facilities can open today with masking rules, and retail stores can have more people inside.

Stepping out this afternoon for a haircut. What a blessed relief.

Pro-Palestinian Jew-Hate in Europe – A continent lacks the courage to take a stand.

Violent anti-Semitic eruptions in Europe following the outburst of hostilities between the Gaza-based Hamas terrorists and Israel have become common and repeated occurrences. The European governments have done little to prevent the largely Muslim and some local anti-Semites from initiating violence against European Jews. It is particularly true of the German government and its leader, Angela Merkel. Chancellor Merkel invited over a million migrants into Germany, mostly Muslims from the Middle East and Africa. Their inculcated hatred for Israel and Jews has resulted in the desecration of Jewish cemeteries, Holocaust memorials, and attacks on synagogues. To assuage Jewish concerns, Merkel and the German government pay lip-service to the unacceptability of anti-Semitism in Germany due to Germany’s role in perpetrating the Holocaust in which Six Million Jews were murdered by Nazi Germany. In reality, few of the perpetrators are punished, and certainly not with long prison terms or deportation.

America’s Top General Read Marx, but Doesn’t Understand How It’s Destroying America

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley says he is interested in theory. This past week, he defended teaching critical race theory in U.S. military academies because he thinks our troops should understand “white rage.” He said that he himself wants to understand why the American families who send their children to serve under him are angry.

And so he believes that it’s a good thing to read books by authors like Robin DiAngelo and Ibram X. Kendi who call white Americans racist. He says it’s good for the military and the country, but, in fact, it’s just good for Milley and the rest of the senior officer class that’s making its retirement plans.

Amazon’s ‘Inclusion Playbook’ is nothing but a ‘woke smokescreen’ to divert attention from how ‘poorly’ it treats its workers

Amazon’s Woke Smokescreen – The new inclusion policy put out by Amazon Studios offers entries on “womxn” and “acquired limb difference.” Meantime, the company’s drivers urinate in bottles.

A few years ago, my friend Dan Ahdoot was auditioning for a sitcom on Fox. And things were looking good; he’d heard from his agent that he made it to the last round. Then, he got a call from one of the creators of the show, a friend of his who was calling to say sorry: Dan wasn’t going to get the part. The reason, he said, was that he wasn’t “diverse.”

Dan is Iranian. He has photos of his parents in Tehran before the revolution and the eyebrows to prove it. (Don’t worry, I asked Dan if I could objectify him.) But Fox apparently didn’t see Iran as “diverse.”

Big Tech’s threat to democracy: Can the US government tolerate the existence of a rival within its territory?

The convenience of the smart home may be worth the price; that’s for each of us to decide. But to do so with open eyes, one has to understand what the price is. After all, you don’t pay a monthly fee for Alexa, or Google Home. The cost, then, is a subtle one: a slight psychological adjustment in which we are tipped a bit further into passivity and dependence.

The implosion of multiculturalism

The Batley and Spen by-election shows just how destructive multiculturalism has become.

Labour has reached a new low. In Batley and Spen, ahead of the by-election on Thursday, it has been distributing leaflets that seem expressly designed to stir up racial and religious animosity. The leaflets show Boris Johnson shaking hands with the Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi. Meeting, never mind touching, such a foul Hindu creature is apparently a crime in the eyes of Labour’s Batley activists. ‘Don’t risk a Tory MP who is not on your side’, the leaflet says. You don’t need a PhD in dogwhistling to translate the nauseating message behind this leaflet: look at the Conservative PM cosying up to the evil leader of the Indian people – the Conservatives clearly cannot be trusted.
