Rex Murphy: The shocking decimation of the federal Greens

The tectonic plates of Canadian politics rumbled and roared on Thursday. In the greatest one-day erosion of a parliamentary caucus, the Green Party of Canada lost 33.33 per cent of its parliamentary wing. It was epochal. To put it in ecological terms, if the Antarctic ice sheet melted with the same speed and volume as the Green party shed its MPs, the penguins would have to start building high-rises.

‘Unique problem’: Catholic bishops split over Biden’s support for abortion rights

At some point this weekend, Joe Biden will take his place in a line of people approaching the altar of a Catholic church to receive communion.

The US president, a devout Catholic whose speeches regularly include biblical references and who carries a rosary that belonged to his late son, attends Mass every weekend – in Washington, his home town of Wilmington in Delaware, or wherever he happens to be traveling. If the traditional Sunday morning Eucharist service is not possible because of his schedule, he will receive the sacrament on Saturday evening as permitted by the Roman Catholic church.

How to Make China Pay

How to Make China Pay

Engage Taiwan, boycott the 2022 Olympics, and impose a carbon tariff

The debate over the origins of the coronavirus—did it come from a wet market in Wuhan or from the virology lab nearby—has exposed the bias of media and technology companies and the potential danger of so-called gain of function research. But it also has led to something of an intellectual cul-de-sac. Barring a high-level defection from the Chinese Communist Party, we are unlikely ever to learn the answer. And even if we did have conclusive evidence one way or another, we still would have to decide what to do about it. The real question isn’t whether the pandemic is China’s fault. It’s whether China will pay a price for the catastrophic damage it caused the world.

Author of ‘White Fragility’ continues racial con job with new book

Doubling down on her dangerous claim that all white people are intractably, hopelessly racist, the P.T. Barnum of American race relations is back with a new book — a little light summer reading, if you will — and her premise is a whopper.

The worst of the worst, says Robin DiAngelo, are not those who identify as neo-Nazis or white supremacists or members of the KKK or the Aryan Brotherhood.

To Biden Administration: The Record of Iran’s Top “Moderate” Mullah

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has long been labeled in the West a “moderate” or “diplomatic sheikh” who will change the Iranian regime for the better. The Obama administration reached a deal with the Rouhani’s administration and lifted sanctions against the Iranian regime; and now the Biden administration is forging ahead to revive former President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Rouhani before he leaves office.

Here, for perusal, are the eight-years of records of the so-called moderate President of Iran.

The code has now been put up for sale on the dark web.

Ex-Mossad chief signals Israel culpability for Iran attacks

The outgoing head of Israel’s foreign intelligence agency, the Mossad, has signalled the country’s clear responsibility for a series of attacks targeting Iran’s nuclear programme in an interview that appeared to have as much to do with Israel’s febrile politics as with Iran.

In a public intervention that appeared timed to help Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, before a Knesset vote on Sunday that could end his 12 consecutive years in office, the agency’s former head Yossi Cohenrevealed details of operations long attributed to Israel.

Attorneys for Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot are arguing that a preliminary injunction against her for racial discrimination is unnecessary because she only racially discriminated against reporters for a strict two-day period.

We must hold the perpetrators of Soviet crimes to account

We must hold the perpetrators of Soviet crimes to account

Eighty years ago, a targeted campaign of Soviet communist repression against the people of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania peaked with mass deportations carried out over several nights in June of 1941.

The dreaded sound of a heavy knock on the door in the middle of the night, signalled that a troika of Stalin’s henchmen were waiting to storm into the home or farm to herd families onto waiting trucks at gun point. From their homes, they were driven to central railway depots and onto waiting cattle cars, which would carry the victims off to distant Gulag slave labour camps — often never to return.

Suspect Still at Large After 13 Injured in Overnight Austin Bar Shooting

Sixth Street in Austin, Texas, was crowded with post-Covid revelers on Friday night when a man described as “black” with a thin build and “dreadlocks” opened fire outside a bar. At least 13 people were taken to the hospital. Of the 13 wounded, 11 were in stable condition with two critical.

Austin Statesman – Editor’s note: Police have only released a vague description of the suspected shooter as of Saturday morning. The Austin American-Statesman is not including the description as it is too vague at this time to be useful in identifying the shooter and such publication could be harmful in perpetuating stereotypes. If more detailed information is released, we will update our reporting.
