Are the Middle East’s ‘electronic armies’ the most dangerous of all?

They’re behind online hate campaigns to intimidate activists, journalists or dissidents. There is no doubt that in some cases, those campaigns have led to murder.

There are armies in the Middle East that do not have guns and whose “soldiers” work online only — but that doesn’t mean they’re not dangerous.

The term “electronic armies” is commonly used in the Middle East for such forces. “The concept is simple,” as the internet freedom advocates from Access Now explain. “A group of people assume false identities in order to participate in internet forums and social media to send — or suppress — a specific message.”

Islamic Republic: Welcome to Iran’s Fake Democratic Elections

Iran’s presidential “elections” will be held in less than three weeks. Do not, however, be deceived by any narrative that suggests the mullahs’ system is democratic or that the people of Iran freely or fairly get to elect their president.

Iran’s mullahs claim that the Islamic Republic is a “democratic” system of governance. Iran’s Supreme Leader recently boasted about the Islamic “democracy,” the regime’s political system and people’s crucial role in influencing and shaping the political establishment…

California Teacher Union Activist: U.S. Is An ‘Evil Empire’ That Funds ‘Ugly Zionism’

California Teacher Union Activist: U.S. Is An ‘Evil Empire’ That Funds ‘Ugly Zionism’

An anti-Israel activist within a California teachers union called Zionism a “sick bourgeois” ideology and claimed that Israeli committed “war crimes.”

According to a report from the Washington Free Beacon, left-wing activist and teacher Soni Lloyd used his Facebook to call the U.S. an “evil empire” that funds “ugly Zionism.” In a May 14 post, the teacher published a YouTube video of Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib entitled, “Watch Rep. Rashida Tlaib Blast U.S. Aid for Israel & Attack on Gaza in Dramatic House Floor Speech.”

This seems par for the course among “educators” nowadays.

And of course among the Glitterati…

UK: Over Half of Pakistani Women in Cousin Marriages, Damaging Health

A majority of marriages in Britain’s Pakistani community being between first cousins is wreaking a terrible toll on public health, with stillbirths, birth defects, and disabilities far higher than they would otherwise be.

In an article published by the Daily Mail, journalist Sue Reid described how an estimated 55 per cent of Pakistani-heritage couples are first cousins in so-called consanguineous marriages.

This has been known for years in GB. I wonder if such a study has been attempted in Canada. Who am I kidding.

Rex Murphy: Apparently, debate on Trudeau’s quarantine hotels would threaten the nation

Anybody with even the slightest appetite for the history of the Second World War is aware of the Enigma machine, a fiendishly complicated mechanism the Germans devised for their top-secret communications. The hero of the story was Alan Turing, a polymathic genius of the highest order. Turing received substantial help from three Polish mathematicians who had broken a version of the code in the early 1930s. The code-breaking project, at the famous Bletchley Park, went under the beautiful name — for a spy story — Ultra.

Smugglers Openly Advertise Illegal Border Crossings on Facebook

Freaky lookin!

Human smugglers along the southern border are openly advertising their services on Facebook and the social media company has fallen short on removing such content.

A plethora of user accounts have posted offers to facilitate illegal border crossings on the platform. Some even directly advertise how much they charge for the service. Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.), who took office in January, repeatedly alerted Facebook to the issue in general and to a number of specific posts of this kind, but most of them haven’t been removed, she said.
