Ontario Reports 2,093 New Covid Cases… and Germany recommends nixing Astra-Zeneca vaccine for over 65’s

German authorities recommend blocking use of AstraZeneca vaccine for over-65s

The independent commission advising the German government on vaccination policy has recommended that the AstraZeneca vaccine not be used for people aged over 65, in a move likely to complicate the acrimonious rollout of the jab in the EU.

A statement by the Standing Vaccine Commission at the Robert Koch Institute, Germany’s main public health agency, said there were “insufficient data currently available to ascertain how effective the vaccination is above 65 years”.

The Horror! Toronto Star Sounds Alarm! Women Sneaking Into Canada To Have Anchor Babies Denied Due To Covid Restrictions!

COVID-19 scrutiny has stopped some women headed to Canada to give birth, documents allege

Greater scrutiny of travellers, prompted by COVID-19, has yielded new instances of women from other countries coming to Canada with what officials say is an unspoken plan to deliver their baby here, documents obtained by the Star show.

Some observers have repeatedly cautioned that the practice controversially dubbed “birth tourism” — which is legal — is being overblown and that focus on it has been driven as much by racism as real concern.

The federal government, meanwhile, has said it is studying the issue in an effort to understand the scope of what is happening.

Canada is so fecked up.

Communist arse-licking Trudeau government contracts visa applications to Chinese company

Opposition calls on Canadian government to stop contracting out visa applications to China-backed company

Opposition MPs are urging the Canadian government to stop contracting out the work of processing visa applications, saying they are concerned that one of China’s largest state-owned investment funds is among the biggest backers of a company the Canadian government currently entrusts with this task.

As The Globe and Mail first reported last December, VFS Global, which processes visa applications in dozens of countries for Canada, is majority-owned by EQT VII (No. 1) Limited Partnership, whose registered office is in Edinburgh.

‘Kickback scheme’ saw $30M stolen before alleged $11.6M COVID-19 fraud, Ontario government claims

The Ontario bureaucrat fired after an alleged fraud involving $11.6 million in COVID-19 funds was the kingpin in an elaborate “kickback” scheme that stole at least $30 million more from the government, court documents say.

Sanjay Madan was terminated in November from his $176,608-a-year job as a Ministry of Education computer specialist after the alleged theft of $11.6 million in Support for Families funds. That money has since been recovered.

But in an amended statement of claim filed earlier this month, the government is also seeking an additional amount “estimated to be at least $30 million” that was allegedly pilfered since 2011.

Biden’s Gifts for Illegal Aliens – Welcome to the open-borders president.

President Joe Biden is the illegal aliens’ best friend. He is asking Congress to provide a pathway to citizenship for the more than 11 million illegal aliens presently living in the United States. And to make the illegal aliens feel better about themselves, Biden is seeking a change in U.S. immigration laws to replace the phrase “illegal alien” with “noncitizen” to describe them.

Glenn Reynolds is correct: Public education is child abuse

Chicago, which has America’s third largest school district, has long been known for its exceptionally aggressive public teachers’ union that seems wedded to strikes. What it doesn’t seem to be wedded to is teaching. That’s especially true with the Wuhan virus.

Chicago teachers are refusing to return to classrooms, despite the educational and emotional disaster that long-distance learning is proving to be for kids. Instead, six dance teachers offered an interpretative dance explaining why they prefer to stay home and get paid for short hours and minimally effective job performance.

I ran this last night but it’s running again. What the hell is this?

Alex Keaton did it better.

How lockdown boredom broke the stock market

Reddit users have confounded Wall Street by sending GameStop stocks into orbit.

Companies that sell physical copies of computer games in shopping malls do not usually expect their share price to increase by several thousand per cent in the digital and e-commerce era. They are doubly not supposed to when a pandemic is either forcing shopping malls to close or is keeping fearful consumers at home.

But that’s exactly what has happened to US videogame retailer GameStop.

300,000 dual citizens in Hong Kong must choose between Canada and China after policy change

Ottawa is growing increasingly concerned about the rights of 300,000 Canadian citizens in Hong Kong, after the territory’s government declared that dual citizens must choose the nationality they wish to maintain.

“Canada is aware of the Hong Kong government’s decision to require dual nationals to declare the nationality they wish to legally maintain while in Hong Kong,” said spokesperson John Babcock. “At this moment, we understand that this policy predominantly affects dual nationals serving prison sentences in Hong Kong. Canada has expressed its concern to the Hong Kong government about the possible loss of consular access that this change implies.”

Disagreeing With Biden’s Transgender Policy Is ‘Incitement’ Now? Facebook Says So…

On Tuesday, Facebook suspended Robert A.J. Gagnon, a prominent Christian scholar on the topic of Bible sexuality, for seven days. His crime? Speaking out against transgender ideology and President Joe Biden’s new transgender military policy. Facebook claimed that Gagnon’s criticism of this government-imposed ideology violated the platform’s “Community Standards on violence and incitement.”

Rex Murphy: Of course the Liberals didn’t support Keystone. There was no ‘political gain’

If there is no ‘political’ point for doing the right thing, why waste time even thinking about doing the right thing?

I don’t suppose it would surprise anyone to discover that among the “bicycling community” (everyone is a member of a “community” these days), support for the Keystone XL pipeline is nil; that avid cyclists hold much the same negative affection for oil and pipelines as vegetarians do for sausages and chicken wings.

Report into Julie Payette’s conduct at Rideau Hall finds toxic environment, public humiliations

An independent report examining the workplace culture at Rideau Hall found that former governor general Julie Payette and her deputy Assunta Di Lorenzo presided over a toxic work environment.

Released publicly under the Access to Information Act Wednesday night, the report details allegations from staff members of “yelling, screaming, aggressive conduct, demeaning comments and public humiliations.”

The report said that 43 staff members at Rideau Hall described the general work environment as “hostile or negative.”

Twenty-six people interviewed “used the words ‘toxic’ or ‘poisoned’ to describe the general work atmosphere” at Rideau Hall during Payette’s time there.
