Google Threatens Shut Down In Australia Over Bill Designed To Better Compensate Content Providers

A huge controversy erupted last summer between major US social media platforms and the Australian government over a bill designed to better compensate and reward local news publishers, while bringing greater transparency to the way algorithms employed by Google, Facebook, and YouTube work.

Months after failed attempts to come to an agreement with the government of Australia, Google is now threatening the dramatic step of shutting down its search engine in the country altogether.

Is that really such a bad thing?

The inside story of the women who assassinated Kim Jong-nam

When Kim Jong-un’s brother was assassinated at Kuala Lumpur Airport, the two women who were arrested claimed they were just part of a prank.

It was, by any standards, an audacious plot. The assassination of the brother of Kim Jong-un, the Supreme Leader of North Korea, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia in February 2017, by two young women who walked up behind him and smeared what turned out to be the world’s deadliest nerve agent onto his face. It wasn’t until the following day, when his real identity was discovered, that his murder hit the headlines. When CCTV footage capturing part of the incident was later leaked to a Japanese TV station, it went viral.

Microsoft Files Patent to Create Chatbots That Imitate Dead People

Microsoft Files Patent to Create Chatbots That Imitate Dead People

Microsoft has filed a patent that would allow the company to digitally revive deceased loved ones as chatbots, using the individual’s personal information.

The Independent reports that the tech giant has raised the possibility of creating an AI-based chatbot that would be built upon the profile of a person, which includes their “images, voice data, social media posts, electronic messages,” among other types of personal information. It’s understood that the chatbot would then be able to simulate human conversation through voice commands and/or text chats.

‘What happened to the PLAN?’ Biden roasted after claiming ‘nothing we can do to change pandemic’s trajectory’

US President Joe Biden was pilloried online after saying he is powerless to change the “trajectory” of the coronavirus pandemic in the coming months, directly at odds with repeat campaign vows to “shut down the virus.”

The president voiced pessimism about the ongoing outbreak on Friday as he prepared to sign a pair of executive orders aiming at pandemic-related relief, saying the death toll could soon top 600,000 – adding 100,000 fatalities to a projection he gave just one day prior.

Biden is an enfeebled sack of shit. The media that enabled him is full of shit. The corrupt political class aka “The Swamp” the backed him is full of shit. The Corporate class that supported him is full of shit. Anyone who voted for him is full of shit. But Orangeman Bad.

David Staples: Will the United States choose Alberta crude or go with massive job losses and dictator oil?

This is an alarming moment for Alberta, with the Keystone XL pipeline axed by U.S. President Joe Biden and green activists keen to see the death of more pipeline projects.

Several major targets are crucial to Alberta’s future, the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion to Burnaby, B.C., and Line 3, which moves Alberta crude down to Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Camera operator covering lockdown protest kicked out of Yonge-Dundas Square by police officer for being ‘non-essential’

A CityNews camera operator was kicked out of Yonge-Dundas Square on Saturday by a police officer and told they were “not essential” while gathering footage of the police presence in the square.

Over the past several months, anti-lockdown protests have been held in the square on Saturdays. Last week, there was a heavy police presence due to the stay-at-home order which resulted in the arrest of the organizer and two others.

One of our CityNews’ camera operators was gathering footage of the police presence today in anticipation of gatherings that exceed the province’s five-person limit when he was told he had to leave the square.

Oh the media scorned!

Video of the protest, a couple of arrests made so far.

Was your fridge made with forced labour? These Canadian companies are importing goods from Chinese factories accused of serious human rights abuses

When the MSC Vega docked at the Port of Los Angeles on Nov. 12, among the thousands of shipping containers on board were more than 136 tonnes of cargo destined for The Brick, one of Canada’s largest furniture and appliance outlets.

The 31 containers in that shipment held fridges sold under The Brick’s Brada label and made by Changhong Meiling — a Chinese company on a U.S. sanctions list for allegedly using forced labour from China’s Uighur population.

It was one of nearly 400 shipments since 2018 from Chinese manufacturers accused of serious human rights violations to Canadian businesses, a joint investigation by the Toronto Star and Guelph Mercury Tribune has found.

Canada’s China Class screwed people out of jobs by outsourcing manufacturing. Benefiting from slave labour is a feature not a bug in their circles. These are the people who govern us and insist they have our best interests at heart.

This is a Globe article from 2003 – go incognito – Appliance makers in Canada a dying breed

John Wood looks around him at the remnants of the Canadian appliance industry.

In 1964, he said, 37 Canadian companies manufactured washing machines, stoves and refrigerators. Today, there are four. Workers in the industry used to total 10,000. Now, there are 2,500.

By next year, Mr. Wood said, he’ll be looking at just three manufacturers.

“It’s sad,” said Mr. Wood, president and chief executive officer of Guelph, Ont.-based W.C. Wood Co. Ltd., the last Canadian-owned appliance manufacturer in the country. “We’re the only one in North America that is still family owned.”

He looks at a list of famous old brands. Inglis, Westinghouse, Kenmore, Beaumark, Admiral, Frigidaire, Moffat and McClary are either gone or made by a contract manufacturer, somewhere, anywhere in the world. And he wonders what will happen over the next year or so when two more companies pull back.

Rex Murphy: Were I an Albertan today, I’d be asking: What’s the point?

I’d be asking, how long are we going to put up with being mauled and mocked and stymied and blocked, by forces within Canada and without?

He couldn’t wait.

Joe Biden didn’t let the sun set on his first day as president before coming down like a ton of bricks on Alberta. Almost with his first breath, he smashed Keystone XL.

The Religious Transformation of French Schools

This teacher clearly needs diversity training.

“Unlike you, Colonel, and so many others, Mila will never submit”, wrote the French teenager’s father to her school’s principal in a letter published by Le Point. On January 18, 2020 Mila O., then 16 years old, made insulting comments about Islam during her Instagram livestream.

“During her livestream, a Muslim boy asked her out in the comments, but she turned him down because she is gay. He responded by accusing her of racism and calling her a ‘dirty lesbian’. In an angry follow-up video, streamed immediately after she was insulted, Mila responded by saying that she ‘hates religion'”.

Mila continued: “The Koran is a religion of hatred; there is only hatred in it… Islam is sh*t…” Since then, she has received approximately 50,000 messages and letters that contain threats to rape her, slit her throat, torture and behead her. She has had to keep moving from one school to another.

Joe Biden must tell hate preacher Abu Hamza to abandon hope of return to Britain

Abu Hamza – hero to satanic death cult

IT should surprise no-one that hate preacher Abu Hamza al-Masri is pleading to come back from his tough US jail  – but, put simply, the Americans must tell him to abandon all hope of an escape to a softer regime.

Life for the notorious Islamist firebrand inside the US high security prison will have been a shock after the soft-soap treatment he received in the UK, where his dangerous preaching was indulged for years.

Don’t put anything past the Biden clown-show so long as Joe gets his 10%,

Terence Corcoran: A global mad green news roundup

Terence Corcoran: A global mad green news roundup

“On Thursday, John Kerry, Biden’s new climate czar, delivered a keynote speech to a G20 business summit. “Reaching net-zero global carbon emissions as early as 2050 will take a wholesale transformation of the global economy.” What’s needed, he added, is a phase-out of coal five times faster than in the recent past, a renewable energy ramp-up six times faster, and a transition to electric vehicles 22 times faster.”

This is right in step with Trudeau’s lunatic “reset.” Does anyone really believe he’s unhappy about the fate of KXL?

Today in ‘Canada Gets Fucked Over By The Liberal Party’: It’s time to let Keystone XL go, ambassador says

Canada’s ambassador to the United States says there’s no chance of President Joe Biden walking back his decision to kill the Keystone XL pipeline — so she’s turning her attention to other pressing bilateral issues.

“It’s obviously very disappointing for Albertans and people in Saskatchewan who are already in a difficult situation,” Kirsten Hillman said in an interview airing Saturday on CBC’s The House.

“But I think that we need to now focus on moving forward with this administration, and there are so many ways in which we are going to be aligned with them to our mutual interest that I’m eager to to get going on that.”
