Kenyan al-Shabab terrorist is charged with plotting 9/11-style terror attack on an American city after training as a pilot in Philippines

A Kenyan member of al-Shabab stands accused of plotting to fly an airliner into a United States’ skyscraper after he trained as a pilot in the Philippines.

Cholo Abdi Abdullah, 30, spent years training to carry out a 9/11-style attack, prosecutors say. He will appear in a New York court later Wednesday.

He said to have been arrested in 2019 in the Philippines with a bomb and gun, Rappler.com reports.

Acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said: ‘This chilling callback to the horrific attacks of September 11, 2001, is a stark reminder that terrorist groups like al Shabaab remain committed to killing U.S. citizens and attacking the United States.’

Iranian president happy ‘terrorist’ Trump’s presidency is ending

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has told his cabinet that, while Iran isn’t excited about Joe Biden, he is “very happy” that Donald Trump is leaving office, labelling the US president “a killer” and “a terrorist.”

Speaking during a televised meeting, Rouhani issued scathing attacks on Trump, accusing him of hampering Iran’s ability to respond to the Covid-19 outbreak by blocking its efforts to acquire a vaccine through the World Health Organization.

Joe is more their cup of tea.

Ontario reports 2,139 new Covid infections

Ontario is reporting more than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases for a second day in a row as the province’s death toll from the virus topped 4,000 on Wednesday.

Provincial health officials logged 2,139 new cases of the novel coronavirus and 43 more deaths, a notable increase compared to the 20 fatalities recorded on Tuesday. The previous single-day high for deaths in the province during the second wave was on Dec. 10 when 45 people died from the virus.

Toronto Mayor John Tory said discussions are underway for greater restrictions across the GTA due to surging COVID-19 numbers.

TORONTO — Toronto Mayor John Tory says a stricter lockdown including more of the surrounding areas of the GTA is being discussed for the holidays as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations hit record levels.

Tory said he is in talks with the Ford government and surrounding area mayors about increasing restrictions in lockstep after Dec. 21, when the 28 day lockdown was scheduled to end.

“Going back to the good old days, as much as we’d want to is just not in the cards, in fact we should be doing more, not less,” Tory told CP24 on Wednesday.

GUNTER: Trudeau’s an appeaser of China, plain and simple

There used to be a term for a person who believes capitulation is the best way to negotiate with a bullying foreign government: Appeaser.

It’s time to revive that term and apply it to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his dealings with the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Vancouver Canucks Face Criticism for ‘Culturally Appropriated‘ Orca Logo

…Sean Carleton, a University of Manitoba history professor, posted a long thread Tuesday on Twitter explaining that since the Orca on the Canuck’s team logo looks similar to the art style of the Coast Salish, a group of languages and people indigenous to British Columbia, that the logo is “racist and appropriated” and must be “retired.”

It’s too often an asshole white person behind this crap.

Paris mayor mocks ‘absurd’ fine for hiring too many women

“Too feminist” – Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo’s mocking response after being told she had broken the law by naming too many women to senior posts.

Eleven women and five men had been promoted in 2018, breaching a national 2013 rule designed to bring about gender parity in employment.

The Paris authorities are being fined €90,000 ($109,000; £81,000) by the public service ministry.

“I am happy to announce we have been fined,” Ms Hidalgo said.

Of course she’s happy it’s not her money being wasted. Ms. Socialist also denies the existence of Islamist No Go Zones.

Ruling Class Gotta Have a War

All of a sudden Elon Musk has become the second richest man in the world. How did he do it? With Tesla, the electric car company, whose stock has risen 650% this year.

How come I always miss out on these deals? It’s not as if Tesla is a secret.

Sensibly, Musk is heading out of California for Texas. After all, why would he want to pay California state income tax on his stock options?

Hunter Biden investigations could touch on sprawling range of foreign dealings

Hunter Biden investigations could touch on sprawling range of foreign dealings

Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, is under criminal investigation as federal authorities scrutinize his foreign business dealings, and while the full scope of the federal inquiries have not been made public, the younger Biden’s financial dealings with China are likely at the forefront.

Concerns about Hunter Biden gained broader attention last week after multiple outlets reported that he is being investigated in connection to his taxes and overseas business with China and other countries in a federal inquiry that was opened as far back as 2018. President-elect Joe Biden’s campaign, along with many in the media, had dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop story and other allegations as being part of a Russian disinformation operation, even though Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said that “there is no intelligence that supports that … Hunter Biden’s laptop is part of some Russian disinformation campaign.”

When 2-Year-Olds Are Thrown Off Airplanes, You Know America Has Changed

You may have seen the video of the family thrown off a United Airlines airplane because the 2-year-old daughter would not wear a mask. Though the family wore masks and the father promised to cover his daughter’s face with a mask that he placed on her face, it made no difference. Though the child was completely asymptomatic, and though it is exceedingly rare for a child to transmit COVID-19 to an adult — that is why Sweden kept its schools open all spring and summer, with its students not wearing masks — the airline had its orders, and the flight attendant duly obeyed them.
