Canada faces ‘unsophisticated’ attacks using everyday weapons, government threat report says

Twenty years after 9/11, Canada’s main terrorist threat comes from “domestic, lone actors” incited online who use everyday objects as weapons, according to a declassified intelligence report.

The “secret” Integrated Terrorism Assessment Centre (ITAC) report obtained by Global News under the Access to Information Act shows how terrorism has evolved since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The Biggest Witch Hunt In American History Is Being Created By Tyrants In Front Of Our Eyes & The People Must Resist It

Prior to this pandemic, if you wanted to weed out all of the “troublemakers”, “independent thinkers” and “non-conformists” from our society, how would you have done it? I suppose that sending everyone a questionnaire asking them what they believe would be one way to do it, but of course a lot of people would give false answers and many others would simply ignore the questionnaire. Social media profiles contain a wealth of information, but many “non-conformists” are not even on social media and digging through all of that data would take an extraordinary amount of time, money and energy. Up until just recently, there just hasn’t been an easy and efficient way to identify those that are not eager servants of the system.

Erin O’Toole is changing Canadian conservatism as we know it

Since 2019′s loss and 2020′s leadership race, Tories have tried to court the working class and take the climate crisis more seriously, while risking alienating social conservatives. On Sept. 20, they’ll find out whether it’s working.

The case of Dr. Julie Ponesse: ethics professor placed on leave for not getting the vaccine

A professor who has taught at Ontario’s Huron University College for 20 years has been suddenly placed on leave and banned from accessing her campus because she does not want to get the COVID-19 vaccine – her university has a mandatory vaccination policy in place for all faculty, staff and students.

Full story of SNC-Lavalin affair still to be told, Wilson-Raybould says in new book

In “Indian in the Cabinet, Speaking Truth to Power,” Wilson Raybould suggests that while the Trudeau government has considered the question closed, the SNC-Lavalin affair may not be over.

The incoherent logic behind Biden’s vaccine mandate

Nearly 80 years old and prone to verbal slips, President Joe Biden isn’t exactly known for being articulate with his words. But it’s one thing to forget things or jumble your words during a campaign stop or public event — hardly the end of the world. On matters of national policy, however, there’s no excuse. Yet, Biden’s new national vaccine mandate is rife with inconsistencies and incoherent arguments that make his verbal mistakes pale in comparison.

MSNBC’s Reid: Americans Are ‘Sick’ of ‘Unvaccinated Bogarting our Spaces and Keeping the Pandemic Going’

Reid said, “We begin tonight with a sigh of relief followed by a right-wing meltdown. President Biden has announced far-reaching new federal requirements to compel the millions of unvaccinated Americans to get their shot. If you’re like me, chances are you and those in your circle thought — finally, we finally don’t have to worry about the unvaccinated bogarting our spaces and keeping the pandemic going. On the right, the freak out is already in full effect.”

REVEALED: 26 out of the 27 Lancet scientists who trashed theory that Covid leaked from a Chinese lab have links to Wuhan researchers

On March 7 last year, the influential journal published the letter in which the 27 scientists said they ‘strongly condemned conspiracy theories’ surrounding the origins of the coronavirus pandemic that has impacted all corners of the world.

All debate into whether Covid-19 had man-made origins or leaked from the lab in Wuhan – the Chinese city that was ground-zero for the virus – was effectively shut down by the letter.

Members of Congress and Their Staff Are Exempt From Biden’s Vaccine Mandate

Biden issued two executive orders on Thursday requiring vaccination against COVID for federal workers and contractors who work for the federal government. He also asked the Department of Labor to issue an emergency order requiring businesses with more than 100 employees to ensure their workers are vaccinated or tested on a weekly basis.

However, Biden’s order on federal workers applies to employees of the executive branch. The House of Representatives and the Senate belong to the separate legislative branch, and the courts to the judicial branch of the federal government.

FDA bans e-cigarettes

The FDA has banned the e-cigarettes commonly sold on the market, by either rejecting them, or delaying their approval. It isn’t enforcing the ban against the biggest brands yet, and it may eventually approve those brands for sale. The FDA’s ban on a vast range of e-cigarettes will make it harder for many smokers to quit smoking, by depriving them of alternative ways of satisfying their craving for nicotine.

First responders: Meet some of the Canadians who rushed to New York after the 9/11 attacks

By 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2001, roughly one hour after the North Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed in that morning’s second slow-motion cascade of dust and debris, Ottawa firefighter Barry Blondin was already heading for the nearest border crossing.

Bundled in the trunk was Blondin’s bunker gear, the protective clothing firefighters wear when responding to emergencies — the same gear hundreds of New York City firefighters were wearing when they rushed into the Twin Towers after the terror attacks.

“You’re watching the news and you’re hearing all the reports [that] a lot of firemen are down, buildings are down. You know there’s people [in] there,” recalled Blondin, who is now 62. “They needed a lot of help, so I thought I could do something.”

Blondin — who retired two years ago after a 27-year career with Ottawa Fire Services — didn’t stop to ask permission. He just went.

Why Justin Trudeau Has Indulged In Six Years Of Canadian Self-Hatred

“There are stories of us scapegoating minorities in this country that, unfortunately, is a part of our past — to leave aside the shameful colonial history that we’re trying to reconcile.”

“There are many institutions that we have in this country, including that big building across the street from us, Parliament, that has and is built around a system of colonialism, or discrimination or systemic racism.”
