KLEIN: The left’s agenda is destroying Canadian identity, threatening democracy

Canada has long been celebrated as a land of opportunity, freedom, and hope. People from around the globe have aspired to become Canadian, drawn by our reputation as a welcoming, fair, and democratic nation.

But today, our country’s identity is under siege, not from outside invaders but from within — by an ideology that seeks to erase what it means to be Canadian. The left’s relentless attack on our values, history, and sense of belonging is tearing at the very fabric of our democracy.

Does the Left Really Want to Argue That Enjoying Lord of the Rings Is ‘Far-Right’?

Rachel Maddow without makeup

This week, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow welcomed J. R. R. Tolkien’s fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings to the fellowship of things, such as patriotic flags and, uh . . . physical fitness, that are now bad because the “far right” likes them. Maddow reacted to Donald Trump’s selection of J. D. Vance as his running mate by noting Vance’s connections to tech billionaire Peter Thiel, and finding fault in their affinity for Tolkien’s work…

76 Years of the Left’s Hitlers

On Saturday evening, we saw where the left’s overheated rhetoric leads.

Leftists have called Trump a traitor, an insurrectionist, a dictator, and much more. Above all, they have repeatedly likened him to the man whose name has become synonymous with evil, Adolf Hitler. Is it any wonder, in light of the way the left has portrayed Trump since 2015, that someone tried to kill him?

The low-key lunacy of Britain’s new ruling class

If you had told me a few years ago that one day Britain would have a secretary of state who thinks violent male paedos should be housed in women’s prisons, I’d have thought you mad. And yet here we are. Meet Lisa Nandy, Britain’s new secretary of state for culture, media and sport. She was asked at a Labour leadership hustings in 2020 if male criminals who identify as female, like Christopher Worton, should be banged up with men or women. ‘I believe fundamentally in people’s right to self-ID’, she said. ‘Trans women are women and trans men are men and should be accommodated in the prison of their choosing.’ Shorter version: put Worton in with the ladies.

Why does this union leader tweet so much about Gaza, and so little about wages?

Fred Hahn’s tweets tell a tale about the transformation of Canada’s union movement. The president of CUPE Ontario – the Ontario branch of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, with 280,000 members – is a very active user of the platform now known as X. To advance his members’ interests, he gets his message out there, multiple times a day.

But if you arrived in a time machine, fresh from reading Das Kapital, you’d be surprised by what he’s using his digital soapbox for.

Why Are Women in America Cheering for Hamas and Iran?

These pro-Jihad protests are one way to escape the ongoing female realities in the West.

Have you noticed that young women all across America are demonstrating for Hamas, Iran, and Palestine? Why would such privileged and educated women, the heirs to the #MeToo movement and to Second and Third Wave Western feminisms, cheer for male rapists and male killers, arguably the most blood-thirsty and sadistic misogynists this side of Ghenghis Khan? Why side with Islamist barbarians who have jailed, tortured, and executed their own women over a slipped Islamic veil, and who would forcibly convert their Western female admirers to Islam, veil them as well, and coerce them into polygamous marriages?

PBS Tries To Blame Conservatism For Mass Stabbing

Thursday’s Amanpour and Company demonstrated everything wrong with public broadcasting by using hushed and solemn tones to offer up the most incendiary hot takes. This particular hot take came from feminist, gender, and sexuality studies Prof. Kate Manne and NPR’s Michel Martin as they tried to tie conservatism to the recent mass stabbing in Australia.

The Long March of the Lemmings

In an interview with John Anderson last fall, Douglas Murray delivered a passionate denunciation of a plan by Muslim groups to host the so-called ‘Million Man March’ for Palestine on Remembrance Day.

“The soul of England, the soul of Britain, is about to be trampled on very, very visibly by people who are gleeful in their trampling,” he said with fierce contempt. “They have defaced and defiled all of our holy places, and I think that I know the British soul is awakening and stirring with rage at what these people are doing. These people came into our house—many of them broke into our house illegally. Many of them were never wanted here. They have come here; they have betrayed all of our attempts at hospitality; they’ve spat in our faces; and now they want to trample everything we have underfoot. No. No.”

The shamelessness of Hope not Hate

You would think that a group called ‘Hope not Hate’ would have a lot of important things to talk about at the moment. It could look at how the threat of Islamist extremism is corrupting our democracy, for instance. It might raise the alarm about the MPs unwilling to vote with their conscience when it comes to Gaza because they are ‘terrified’. Or point to Mike Freer, who after years of death threats was recently forced to resign as an MP. Hope not Hate might also have investigated the appalling ‘hate marches’ we’ve seen since 7 October, which brought anti-Semitic slogans and chants of ‘jihad’ to the streets of London – or the people with links to Hamas that have helped organise them. There’s certainly been no shortage of hate in Britain this past year.

Hope Not Hate is the Brit Bernie Farber.

Rolling Stone Founder: Women, Black Musicians Not ‘Articulate Enough’ on ‘Intellectual Level’ to Feature in New Book

Jann Wenner, the co-founder of Rolling Stone magazine, claimed the reason no women or people of color appear in his upcoming book of interviews with rock stars was because “none of them were . . . articulate enough” on an “intellectual level.”

Why Does NPR Hate Democracy? Can’t Stand One Parent Started ‘Book Ban’ of Ibram X. Kendi

On Friday’s Morning Edition, NPR lamented the “surge” in book bans across America. Apparently, democracy works best in America when educators get to assign left-wing propaganda about how America is deeply racist, and no one objects. The headline on their website:

1 parent is responsible for a book ban in North Carolina

But even their summary undercut that assertion: “In a North Carolina school district newly controlled by Republicans, it took just one parent’s complaint to remove a book from the curriculum.”

White Starbucks manager who ran store where two black men were refused access to bathroom is awarded another $2.7 million – after she was previously given $25 million when a jury found she had been fired because of her race

A white Starbucks manager who was fired after two black men were refused access to a Philadelphia store bathroom was awarded $2.7million to cover the legal fees associated with her wrongful termination lawsuit.

Shannon Phillips claimed she was used as a ‘scapegoat’ by Starbucks after she was fired when the coffee chain found itself at the centre of racial controversy when two black men were arrested on the premises of a cafe in Philadelphia in 2018.

It comes after Ms Phillips won her lawsuit against the coffee giant in June and was handed $25million in punitive damages and $600,000 in compensatory damages.
