Conservative supporters more susceptible to Russian false narratives: report

A large majority of Canadians have been exposed to Russian false narratives about the war in Ukraine — and people who support the Conservative Party are more susceptible to believing Kremlin disinformation, according to a new report.

A survey from DisinfoWatch, part of the MacDonald-Laurier Institute think tank, found that 71 per cent of Canadians polled have heard at least one Russian false narrative and that a substantial portion “believe them to be true or are unsure of their falsehood.”

NO HOUSE FOR YOU: Liberals’ ‘modern’ housing solution doesn’t include detached single-family homes

Housing Minister Sean Fraser in his housing design plans has done away with detached single family homes and determined Canadians will live in townhouses and walk-up apartments.

The department has released its Housing Design Catalogue for builders and designers, per Blacklock’s Reporter. No designs for detached single family homes are welcome.

Conrad Black: Should There Be Term Limits for Leaders in Democracies?

There is an almost constant debate in many Western countries about term limits for elected politicians. In general, these discussions are more frequent in non-parliamentary countries, where the executive does not sit in the legislature and many legislative districts tend to retain the same representative, or at least the same party, for many elections.

In the parliamentary system, the government almost automatically changes when the composition of parliament changes, and the phenomenon of a long and unbroken incumbency of the head of the government is comparatively rare. If Justin Trudeau leads the Liberal Party in the next election next year, he will be seeking to become the first Canadian federal politician to win four consecutive elections since Wilfrid Laurier succeeded in doing that in 1908.

Andrea Robin Skinner, daughter of Alice Munro, speaks out about her stepfather’s sexual abuse

The daughter of acclaimed Canadian author Alice Munro, who died in May, has written about the sexual abuse she endured at the hands of her stepfather and the pain it caused when her mother remained with him.

Andrea Robin Skinner, Ms. Munro’s daughter, wrote in the Toronto Star on Sunday that in the summer of 1976, when she was nine years old, her stepfather Gerald Fremlin “climbed into the bed where I was sleeping and sexually assaulted me.”

Read the Star piece, it’s a good thing Alice doesn’t live here anymore.

Idiot at Star can’t grasp that the sexual mutilation of children & denial of Women’s rights are abhorrent to normal people so he links decline in LBGTQ support to Poilievre

Sick fuck Justin Trudeau approves sexual mutilation.

Queer rights are in danger in Canada. Pierre Poilievre owns some of the blame

For years, Ipsos has been asking individuals around the world for their opinions on Queer people. And for years, the pollster has found, those opinions have steadily improved. People had been growing more and more supportive of the LGBTQ community with each passing year, especially in Canada.

In 2011, more than six-in-ten Canadians said people should be open about their sexual orientation and gender identity; even more voiced support for anti-discrimination laws; more, still, endorsed Queer couples adopting children.

But this year, those trends suddenly reversed.

NATO is losing patience with one of its own members …

Canada has been dodging its commitment to NATO for a decade. It may not be able to hold out for much longer.

Over the past several years, Ottawa has become an outlier among the 32-member alliance. It has failed to hit domestic military spending goals, has fallen short on benchmarks to fund new equipment and has no plans to get there.

New Democrats say they see opportunity in Liberals’ Toronto byelection loss

An NDP insider says New Democrats were surprised by the Liberals’ loss in the recent Toronto byelection — and now see the governing party’s weakness as an opportunity.

Anne McGrath, principal secretary to NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh in the House of Commons, told CBC News the party thought the outcome of the Toronto St Paul’s byelection would be close but not a Conservative upset.

The NDP lost vote share in the St. Paul’s byelection.

Justin Trudeau’s on the back foot, the opposition and media are no better. No wonder ruthless authoritarians are treating Canadians like a bunch of dim-witted lumberjacks

On Feb. 21, 2021, 800 days after the Chinese government locked up Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, Don Valley North MP Han Dong, a Liberal, called China’s Toronto Consul General, Han Tao, to discuss the case, which he shouldn’t have done.

Dong testified later that he could not remember the details of the conversation, but a CSIS transcript of the call said that he encouraged the Chinese to keep the two Michaels in jail, because releasing them would help the Conservatives. Two CSIS agents were so rattled by this and upset about Liberal inaction that they told Global News about it. Global ran a story. Dong denied it and sued Global, and on June 21 a judge ruled that the case can proceed, which was bad news for Global.

Everything Dim Bulb Justin Trudeau has said publicly about Donald Trump

Everything Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said publicly about Donald Trump

While Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took a measured tone when talking about Donald Trump during his first presidency, the Canadian leader has been a little more direct since.

“It wasn’t easy the first time and if there is a second time, it won’t be easy either,” Trudeau told the Montreal Chamber of Commerce in January. “There are clearly issues where I do not agree at all with Mr. Trump.”

Citing topics like climate change, Trudeau said another Trump presidency would be a “step back” and a win for a type of populism “that reflects a lot of anguish and fury … without necessarily providing solutions.”

Justin Trudeau and Joe Biden are used to being underestimated. That’s not helping now

The day after the disastrous presidential debate, CNN convened a panel that included Katie Rogers, a New York Times reporter who covers the White House. When the host asked her what those closest to President Joe Biden, including First Lady Jill Biden, were telling him, she paused to set the table first.

“I think it’s important to understand how this family works in a way, and her place in it, but also the children, the grandchildren,” she said. “They view obstacles as part of his story, as part of his tapestry, his long life in politics. And the way they’re talking about this is, ‘We’ve been here before, we can keep going.’”

Senack: Doug Ford’s decision to shut out Goldie Ghamari was rash — and wrong

Fatima Ford

Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s rash and sudden decision to oust an Iranian-born Canadian politician from his Progressive Conservative party caucus over an honest mistake is misplaced.

It’s an example of the premier’s appetite to part ways with any elected official or candidate who doesn’t clap like a seal “for the people” or toe the party line. Since when did a difference of opinion become a bad thing? Aren’t we as humans supposed to have thoughtful debate?

Read the ruling any way you want, we’ve allowed antisemitism to be normalized

A home that displays a mezuzah — signifying a covenant with God and blessings on the home — has been defiled with a note that reads: “You and your Jewish family are going to die.’’

Elsewhere, “Long live Hitler’’ graffiti-scrawled on the curb.

Bad immigration policy and scumbag politicians have sure helped.
