Muslim, Jewish voters leaning away from the federal Liberals as Gaza war grinds on: poll

A new poll suggests Muslim and Jewish voters are leaning away from the federal Liberals in voting intentions — a possible sign that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s efforts to straddle gaps in public opinion over the Israel-Hamas war are falling short.

The new poll of voting intentions by the Angus Reid Institute says the federal NDP is leading the Liberals among Muslim voters 41 per cent to 31 per cent, while the federal Conservatives are beating the Liberals among Jewish voters 42 per cent to 33 per cent.

“This does feel to the Liberals, in terms of their outreach around diaspora politics, to now be a fairly untenable situation,” Shachi Kurl, president of the Angus Reid Institute, told CBC News.

Quebec Superior Court judge rejects McGill injunction request to remove encampment

A Quebec Superior Court judge has rejected a provisional injunction request by McGill University to remove pro-Palestinian encampment activists from its front lawn in downtown Montreal.

Justice Marc St-Pierre said in his decision issued Wednesday morning that the university failed to justify the urgent need to dismantle the camp.

McGill made the injunction request on Monday. In the request, the university’s lawyers argued that the encampment was unsafe, posing a risk of escalating tensions on campus and preventing McGill from holding its convocation ceremonies at its usual outdoor location.

Sikh Canadian separatist leader says India cracking down on Khalistan supporters after arrests in Nijjar slaying

A Sikh Canadian separatist leader allegedly targeted for death by the Indian government says New Delhi arrested three of his secessionist colleagues Tuesday, part of what he called a crackdown on a cause that was championed by B.C.-based Hardeep Singh Nijjar before his fatal shooting last year.

Gurpatwant Pannun, the New York-based legal counsel for Sikhs for Justice, who also holds American citizenship, said he was in touch with the arrested men as recently as Monday. A criminal indictment unsealed in New York last November said a thwarted 2023 plot to kill Mr. Pannun was directed by an Indian government employee.

At least someone is doing their job.

Joe Oliver: A principled Canada would protect its Jews

… In Canada, as elsewhere, Israel’s enemies target it with unhinged ferocity. Too many decent people don’t recognize that this vilification is unjustified and one-sided because it’s been normalized by an accommodating establishment and mainstream media. Moral clarity was always an endangered species in the Middle Eastern conflict.

A principled Canada would protect it’s Jews? Really?

Would that be the principled Canada of Jews for Gaza?

Would that be the principled Canada of Bernie Farber’s CAHN?

Would that be the principled Canada that has demonized White people through DEI and CRT for the past decade?

Would that be the principled Canada of fake mass graves and burning churches?

Would that be the principled Canada that force marched us down the one way street of multiculturalism and diversity while denigrating our nation as founded on genocide?

Would that be the principled Canada whose elites have flooded the nation with incompatible immigrant cultures yet demands that we bigots learn to be tolerant?

Would that be the principled Canada that declares White supremacism a major threat while allowing multiple imported ethnic conflicts to be fought out in our streets?

Would that be the principled Canada that smeared you as a racist for daring to point out the folly of Mass Islamist immigration?

Would that be the principled  Canada where some of the same super tolerant blowhards who called us Islamophobes are suddenly the most enthusiastic of Islamophobes?

Would that be the principled Canada whose security services play down the threat of Muslim terrorism to please their political masters?

Would that be the principled Canada where identity politics is so out of hand that they appointed an Islamophobia Tsar who doubles as an Hamas cheerleader?

Would that be the principled Canada where the Mayor of Toronto declares a ceremonial flag raising “divisive”?

Would that be the principled Canada where most of the government media is as suspect as Press TV?

You see I’m a little confused. I consider myself to be a decent person even if I am one of those Islamophobic Demon Whites this country’s elites hate so fucking much so I’m more than a little surprised you’re asking for my help.

PS. That principled Canada you refer to is a thing of the past. Our principled elites trashed it or have you forgotten?

India, gangs … or both? Who is behind assassinations of Canadian Sikhs?

Less than half an hour after the prominent Canadian Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead outside a temple in British Columbia, Moninder Singh addressed a crowd near the site of the brazen attack.

“Make no mistake: this is a political assassination,” Singh told the agitated crowd in June 2023. “And it’s been carried out by India.”

Reaction from Delhi, more than 11,000 kilometres away, was starkly different. The government had long considered Nijjar a “terrorist” and Indian media wrote off the killing as a “fratricidal gang-world slaughter”.

Jesse Kline: Trudeau’s bloated public service monster turns on him

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is facing a “summer of discontent” — not only because the electorate is fed up with his disastrous economic policies, woke sermonizing and lack of moral leadership, but because his own public-sector employees are fuming over his government’s decision to make them go into the office three days a week.

Listening to the rhetoric being espoused by union leaders, one might get the impression that public servants are being forced to work in sweatshops that aren’t up to fire code, and that the future of democratic governance is at stake.

All in the game. Trudeau is vulnerable and the public service unions are a formidable vote bloc.

Trudeau will rob us to fatten their wallets in the expectation of securing union loyalty.

You do know South Africa is a sh^thole don’t you?

Operation Dudula – How South African anger has focused on foreigners

Are the campus protests just noise? A look back at the anti-apartheid movement offers insights

On campuses across Canada and the United States, students, faculty and alumni are organizing to press their universities to divest their holdings in companies doing business in Israel. Students are holding rallies and constructing encampments, and they have occupied college buildings. Some commentators have dismissed these actions as naïve or a flash in the pan that will soon dissipate. The lessons of history tell us that this is not likely to be the case.

The author believes SA is a shining example of student activism. I suppose he considers Kill the Boer a happy tune.

Philippines seeking Canada’s help to avoid ‘great power rivalry’ between China, U.S.

OTTAWA – The foreign minister of the Philippines wants closer business and military ties with Canada, saying the two countries can help maintain the post-war order in the Indo-Pacific by maintaining peaceful relations with both the U.S. and China.

“The future of our region should not be determined by the great power rivalry,” Enrique Manalo, the secretary of foreign affairs for the Philippines said in an interview last week.

“Today’s world is a lot different than it was after the Second World War, when you had a clear distinction between the West and the East. Now, you have a much more competitive world — and our relationships are more complex.”

Is this some kind of Joke?

CHARLEBOIS: The invisible lifeline of Canada’s economy may be in trouble

In a country as vast and resource-rich as Canada, one would expect logistics — a critical backbone of our economy — to be a priority.

Yet, it remains one of the most underappreciated aspects of our economic infrastructure. Canadians, largely oblivious to the intricacies of supply chains, are accustomed to the seamless appearance of goods on store shelves.

Crown lays out arguments as Pat King goes to trial on conduct during 2022 convoy protest

Crown attorneys are arguing a key figure in what became known as the Freedom Convoy is guilty of crimes in part because of his presence and conduct during the weeks-long protests in 2022.

Pat King is facing nine charges, including mischief, intimidation of police and other charges.

They say he was directly involved in organizing a slow-roll at the Ottawa airport and encouraged others to take part in the crime of mischief by telling them to continue honking their horns.

Lifetime ban? License suspension for car thieves could be coming to Ontario

The Ford government says it plans to suspend some driver’s licenses for people found guilty of auto theft offences in legislation set to be tabled later in the week.

Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria, along with Solicitor General Michael Kerzner, teased the proposed new law Tuesday, which could lead to repeat vehicle thieves having their licenses suspended for life in certain cases.

If this goes through we’ll see car theft prosecutions declared racist.
