Conrad Black: We bought into the vision of a bilingual Canada, but Quebec’s cultural elite betrayed us

Quebec’s Bill 96, which was featured in this column last week, like its predecessors, Bill 22 (1974, Bourassa) and Bill 101 (1977, Levesque), is opening up questions of the nature of Canadian Confederation. To civil libertarians, it is profoundly offensive to have a government regulating the size of different languages displayed on outdoor advertising and in-store products, and restricting access to schools on the basis of language. The whole idea of segregating linguistic groups in an officially bilingual country, and particularly of restricting the access of French-speaking secondary school and university students to English-language institutions, is deeply offensive.

Corbella: Trudeau’s shameful support of the Chinese regime threatens Canada

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s inability to see the malevolence of China’s Communist regime appears to be as strong as ever and his response to questions about that threat are as shameful and troubling as ever.

Recently, Alberta’s advanced education minister, Demetrios Nicolaides, sent a letter to four of the province’s universities asking them to suspend new or renewed partnerships with organizations linked with China or the Chinese Communist Party.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau commits $25M for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank

Canada will provide $25 million to Palestinian civilians affected by the recent conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians in Gaza Strip and the West Bank, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Friday.

Trudeau said in a news release the funding will go directly to experienced organizations Hamas which will help the most vulnerable Palestinian civilians cope with the impacts of the recent conflict by purchasing more weapons from Iran.

I um might have slightly altered the text for accuracy.

Violence in Gaza has left behind a changed political landscape in Canada

“…Paul, who converted to Judaism 20 years ago, has spoken in Israeli media about the prejudice she faced when running for the Green Party leadership.

“It started out as innuendo, with veiled suggestions and attacks against me as a Zionist,” she said. “And then because neither we nor others responded to it, people became more emboldened and more explicit.

“I was accused of the usual tropes, including being in the pocket of foreign agents, being embedded in a political party to further the goals of those foreign agents, and the usual things related to money.”

ISIS forced Toronto 18 terror plot leader to rethink his ideology, but change deemed not enough to warrant parole

From the prison where Zakaria Amara endures his life sentence, the leader of a terrorist plot to explode huge truck bombs in Ontario said the atrocities of ISIL jihadists drove him to re-evaluate and reject his radical beliefs, making him ready for release from prison.

Amara’s appeals of a personal transformation over 15 years behind bars, however, were not enough to warrant his release, the Parole Board of Canada told him after a lengthy and sometimes emotional hearing Friday.

This is Who the Canadian Government Wants to Regulate the Internet

The CRTC yesterday released its wholesale Internet rates decision, shocking the industry and consumer groups by reversing its 2019 ruling and virtually guaranteeing increased costs for consumers and less competition for Internet services. Indeed, within hours, TekSavvy, one of the largest independent providers, announced that it was withdrawing from the forthcoming spectrum auction and would no longer offer mobile services. In other words, the competitive and consumer cost reverberations from the decision will impact both broadband and wireless services. When the increased costs coming from Bill C-10 for Internet services are added to the equation, the Internet could get a lot more expensive in Canada.

Conservative Asian-Canadian MPs Rip Justin Trudeau Apart for Prostrating Before China

Conservative Asian-Canadian MPs Rip Justin Trudeau Apart for Prostrating Before China

We are living in a time where demonstrating an ability to go against the grain without apology and standing up to China are imperative traits for a world leader to possess.

Unfortunately, the Biden administration continues to demonstrate that they are sorely lacking in that department. And to make matters worse, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has also been perfecting his own ability to bend the knee when the opportunity presents itself to show fealty to China.
