Why Canada’s truckers will lose

They are driving into a merciless political establishment

The world does not usually pay much attention to Ottawa, Canada’s sleepy capital city. But over the weekend it generated international headlines. A “Freedom Convoy” consisting of anti-vaccine mandate truckers descended on the Canadian parliament to protest cross-border vaccine mandates and what they see as the infringement of their rights. Anti-establishment voices, ranging from Tucker Carlson and Elon Musk to Russell Brand and Donald Trump, all expressed their support.

Justin Trudeau’s woke agenda is tearing Canadian society apart

The “freedom convoy” that has descended on Ottawa began as a revolt against new requirements that unvaccinated Canadian truck drivers returning across the border from the US must quarantine for 10 days. While we can debate the wisdom of the rules in question, what cannot be denied is the truckers’ huge symbolic importance. In a society that has grown much more polarised under Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government, they have given a voice to groups consistently demonised by the Left-liberal Canadian establishment: namely conservatives and the white working-class.

After three generations of an official culture of political correctness in education and the media, Canada has become a strongly Left-leaning society. Six in 10 voters support the culturally Leftist Liberals and New Democratic Party (NDP) while 4 in 10 back the Tories or populist People’s Party of Canada (PPC). In many other western societies, such as Britain, the balance is far closer to 50-50.

Tucker Carlson accuses the Canadian media of being a mouthpiece for Justin Trudeau

Tucker Carlson accuses the Canadian media of being a mouthpiece for Justin Trudeau and ‘borrowing attack lines’ from the liberal American media to smear ‘Freedom Convoy’ of truckers

Tucker Carlson has accused the Canadian media of being a mouthpiece for Justin Trudeau and says they ‘trotted out some attack lines borrowed from CNN and NBC News’ to smear the truckers protesting the Prime Minister’s vaccine mandates.

On Tucker Carlson Tonight on Monday, the Fox News host criticized the Canadian leader for not meeting with the truckers.

‘”So I’ll meet with the people at a rally as long as I agree with their goals, as long as they agree with me, it’s totally fine, like Black Lives Matter,”‘ Tucker said, imitating Trudeau. ‘You get the sense even someone as dim as Justin Trudeau realizes this is not a winning argument. He needed his friends in state media to help.’

The media will not recover from this disgrace.

Trudeau calls convoy truckers “tinfoil hats,” says he will not meet with organizers

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau emerged from a secure location on Monday to denounce the thousands of truckers and their supporters rallying in Ottawa as “tinfoil hats” whose behaviour has disgusted him.

“And to Canadians at home,” Trudeau said, “watching in disgust and disbelief at this behaviour, wondering how this could have happened in our nation’s capital after everything we’ve been through together – this is not the story of our pandemic, of our country, of our people.”

The truckers versus Trudeau

The ‘freedom convoy’ against vaccine mandates shows Canadians won’t give up their freedoms without a fight.

Canadian truckers have driven into the heart of the political debate over Canada’s vaccine mandates.

A 70 kilometre-long ‘freedom convoy’ travelled from Vancouver to the Canadian capital, Ottawa, last week, to protest a vaccine mandate for truckers crossing the US-Canada border. An estimated 10,000 protesters then converged at Parliament Hill in Ottawa over the weekend, and pledged not to leave until the vaccine mandate is revoked. The mandate was implemented by prime minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government earlier this month.

‘We won’t give in’ Tin Pot Trudeau says as trucker convoy protest continues

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he “won’t give in” to the so-called “freedom convoy” protest in downtown Ottawa.

He made the comments Monday as the trucker convoy still lined the streets around Parliament Hill, with protestors demanding an end to public health mandates, vaccine mandates, and even calling on Trudeau himself to resign.

“I want to be very clear: we are not intimated by those who hurl abuse at small business workers and steal food from the homeless,” he said.

He’s afraid.

He said that unvaccinated cross-border truckers are safe and should be able to continue their work unhindered at the border. He also condemned similar measures imposed by U.S. authorities at the border, accusing the prime minister of “colluding” with President Joe Biden.

Rex Murphy: Should Justin Trudeau be deciding what views are ‘acceptable’?

A couple of years ago Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was sending valentines to our noble truckers for keeping Canadians fed through their deliveries. Yet a couple of days before this weekend’s gathering of the aforementioned truckers, who have travelled half of Canada in midwinter, from both directions, to express their concerns and feelings in a peaceful protest, he shoved them to the margins, declaring them a “fringe” and their views “unacceptable.”
