Is Canada dropping its COVID-19 guard too quickly? Experts weigh in

The federal government is expected to announce Thursday that it is ending pre-arrival testing requirements for vaccinated travellers entering Canada by April 1, sources tell Global News.

The decision comes as nearly all remaining provincial mask mandates are set to be lifted across the country by Monday, with plans to eliminate all remaining restrictions by the end of April.

Canada’s perennial status as a NATO freeloader is getting awkward

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau continued his tour of Europe to “work closely with allies to strengthen NATO.” But even as Canada places 500 troops in Latvia and pledges CF-18s for Romania, there is an elephant in the room whenever Trudeau talks to NATO members about collective security: He happens to represent a country that has spent more than a generation phoning in its NATO commitments.

Russian airline violates Canadian airspace

One of the bolder economic moves against Russia following its invasion of Ukraine was taken by the European Union and Canada when they banned all Russian aircraft from landing in their countries or even flying through their airspace. That decision was put to the test yesterday when an Aeroflot commercial jet flew through Canadian airspace on the way from Miami to Moscow. It was a brief incursion, but it still violated the new rules. Transport Canada and the Nav Canada air traffic control service are currently “reviewing” the incident, but it’s unclear what can be done about it or what will happen if they do it again today.

Your Afternoon Musical Interlude

The protest song edition:

For those who held the line:

I’ve been saving this song for when Justin is deposed or before he mishandles some cutlery and asks the fatal question: “Why can’t Mr. Fork and Mr. Electrical Outlet be friends and shake hands?”:

The Freedom Convoy will lead to Justin Trudeau’s resignation as Prime Minister. Here’s why

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as is to be expected, is repeating himself like a trained parrot, saying nothing but out of touch slogans about vaccines and science and swastikas to avoid the questions.

However, there is a mutiny brewing within the Liberal Party, and things are not going Trudeau’s way. So far two Liberal Members of Parliament (MPs) have broken ranks and accused the Prime Minister of dividing Canadians, using COVID as an excuse to put a wedge between people for political gain. Both MPs say they represent a growing faction in Trudeau’s own party.

Trucker Blockade of US-Canada Border Bridge Forcing Carmakers to Cut Production

On Feb. 7, Canadians protesting the nation’s cross-border vaccine mandate and other pandemic-related restrictions began a blockade of the Ambassador Bridge, a vital crossing over the Detroit River between the Motor City and Windsor, Ontario. Constructed in 1929, the bridge is a vital trade artery between the two nations with $323 million worth of goods crossing over it each day—over a quarter of the trade between the U.S. and its neighbor to the north.

Justin Trudeau’s Ceauşescu Moment

Trudeau is becoming the ultimate example. Truckers last month began protesting a January 22nd rule that required the production of vaccine passports before crossing the U.S.-Canadian border. Canadian truckers are reportedly 90% vaccinated, above the country’s 78% total, a key detail that’s been brazenly ignored by media in both countries determined to depict these more as “anti-vax” than “anti-mandate” protests (which seem to be about many things at once, but that’s another story). When an angry convoy descended upon the capital, Trudeau dismissed them in a soliloquy that can only be described as inspired political arson:

The small fringe minority of people who are on their way to Ottawa, who are holding unacceptable views that they are expressing, do not represent the views of Canadians…who know that following the science and stepping up to protect each other is the best way to ensure our rights, our freedoms, our values as a country.

Trudeau Makes Bizarre Statements Showing No Self-Awareness Or Grasp On Reality

So Trudeau comes out and condemns the massive freedom protests, saying that “individuals are trying to blockade our economy, our democracy, and our fellow citizens’ daily lives. It has to stop.”

Oh, honey. Bless your little authoritarian heart. You can’t be serious. You can’t be this dense.

HE is the one who has been blockading their economy, their democracy, and their fellow citizens’ daily lives for TWO YEARS. HE is the one who has to be made to stop. Thus the freedom protests. To make him stop blockading their economy, their democracy, and their fellow citizens’ daily lives.
