The Treasury Department said Thursday that the money to pay for the vaccine incentive payments could come from the $350 billion of relief funds that is being given to states and cities as part of the economic rescue package that Congress approved in March. The incentive is intended to “boost vaccination rates, protect communities, and save lives.”

Recommending masks for everyone and requiring vaccines for doctors and other health workers are among measures the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is considering, according to internal documents obtained by the Washington Post.

Anti-vaxxers have vowed, perhaps jokingly in some cases, to go plant-based after a British law firm said vegans could be exempt if companies decide to implement compulsory Covid-19 vaccination rules.
On Thursday, law firm Lewis Silkin told The Telegraph that it was likely ethical vegans would be protected by employment law if employers were to implement rules mandating vaccinations for their staff.

CDC mask decision followed stunning findings from Cape Cod beach outbreak
A week after the crowds descended upon Provincetown, Massachusetts, to celebrate the Fourth of July — the holiday President Joe Biden hoped would mark the nation’s liberation from COVID-19 — the manager of the Cape Cod beach town said he was aware of “a handful of positive COVID cases among folks” who spent time there.
“We are in touch with the Health Department and Outer Cape Health Services and are closely monitoring the data,” Alex Morse told reporters
Delta COVID-19 variant as contagious as chickenpox, internal CDC report says
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has described the Delta variant of the coronavirus as being as transmissible as chickenpox and cautioned it could cause severe disease, the Washington Post said, citing an internal CDC document.
The variant was also more likely to break through protections afforded by the vaccines, but the health authority said such incidents were very rare, the CDC report posted on the Washington Post website showed.
This will not be an anti-vaccine post. It will, however, be an attack against the CDC for using discredited and inapplicable authority to justify its latest mask and vaccine guidelines and for ignoring credible opposing authority. The NIH’s ongoing funding of Chinese research institutions comes amid growing bipartisan concern in Washington D.C. over the fact that U.S. taxpayers support research in a country that has violated international health regulations, stonewalled a proper investigation into the origins of COVID-19 and that may be in violation of the Biological Weapons Convention.

Ontario is reporting its highest number of new COVID-19 cases in more than three weeks as the rolling seven-day average continues to slowly rise amid the presence of the more infectious Delta variant.
The Ministry of Health says that there were 218 new cases of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus confirmed on Wednesday along with another three deaths. That is the highest number of new cases in any single 24-hour period since 244 were reported back on July 6.

Calls for the Ontario government to take leadership on vaccine credentials or so-called “vaccine passports” are increasing from both business and health advocates, who say the province needs to either create its own program or at least give clear direction on dealing with customers and employees as the province reopens.

The reopening of the U.S. land border to Canadian travellers is likely a good way off.
We already learned last week that the U.S. wasn’t co-ordinating its border reopening with Canada’s Aug. 9 welcoming of vaccinated American citizens, to the tremendous surprise of many expert observers. But when the Joe Biden White House confirmed Monday it is no longer planning to lift international travel restrictions in the near future over concerns about the spread of the Delta variant, it was a pretty clear sign that the thinking in U.S. government is no longer about how to return to normal, but how to stave off disaster.
