‘Ghislaine Maxwell’s judge said no one’s above the law, but men who raped us are’

The sound of shackles as Ghislaine Maxwell entered the courtroom will stay with Sarah Ransome for ever. “The shame and guilt you feel after being raped is deafening. I have been shamed for 16 years. So to hear those shackles was basically like me putting my middle finger up to every single one of those people who have ever called me names, who doubted me and made me doubt myself,” she says. “It was a reality check on the severity of what she has actually done, not only to me, but to so many others.”

Theft victims tracked down their stolen cars. But the police didn’t show up

Adam Westland knows cars and trucks. His friends call him a “petrolhead” — someone who’s obsessed with vehicles.

And so when Julie, his wife, looked out their Toronto window in December and shouted — “Adam, the truck’s gone” — he swung into action. It was a few days before Christmas, and they were about to drive to Prince Edward County to see family.

Using the state-of-the-art tracker he’d installed, Adam precisely located his Ford F-150 Raptor pickup while on the phone to Toronto police. What happened next is becoming a common occurrence in Toronto. The police did not show up.

In a nutshell work on the assumption that your vehicle and its contents are a write-off and hope your insurance company will make it all better.

Sonny Barger, Face of the Hells Angels, Dies at 83

Sonny Barger, the face of the Hells Angels who was instrumental in the outlaw motorcycle club’s rise from a small gang of California outcasts into a countercultural force, has died. He was 83.
His death was announced on his Facebook page on Thursday, in a post that Mr. Barger asked to be published “immediately after my passing.” The cause was cancer, according to the post, which did not say where he died.
“I’ve lived a long and good life filled with adventure,” Mr. Barger said in the post. “And I’ve had the privilege to be part of an amazing club.”

R&B star R Kelly, 55, sentenced to 30 years in prison for sex trafficking and racketeering over 25 years

Disgraced R&B star R Kelly has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for sex trafficking and abusing young girls as the judge told him ‘the public has to be protected.’

Kelly, 55, was convicted on sex trafficking and racketeering charges last September following a nearly six-week trial that amplified accusations that had dogged the singer of the Grammy-winning hit ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ since the early 2000s.

Judge Ann M. Donnelly handed down Kelly’s sentence in Brooklyn Federal Court on Wednesday, despite the defense lawyers’ request for a sentence of 10 years or less. Prosecutors had asked for at least 25 years.

2 suspects killed, 6 police officers injured in shootout at bank in Saanich, B.C.

Six police officers are in hospital with gunshot wounds and two suspects have been killed following an attempted bank robbery in Saanich, B.C., on Tuesday.

As of Tuesday afternoon, police continue to ask people in the area of North Dairy Road to Cedar Hill Cross Road, and between Richmond Road to Cedar Hill Road, to shelter in place as heavily armed officers search for a possible third suspect.

Multiple officers from Saanich Police, VicPD, and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) responded to the report of armed suspects at a bank in the 3600-block of Shelbourne Street around 11 a.m.

This seems odd for a Canadian bank robbery, shootouts are as rare as dead bank robbers.

So was it drugs that motivated such a suicidal commitment by the robbers or were they following a higher calling and this is linked to the Coastal gas terrorists?

Ghislaine Maxwell sentenced to 20 years in Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking case

Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced to 20 in prison Tuesday for her role in helping powerful pedophile Jeffrey Epstein abuse young girls, capping off a dramatic fall from grace for the British socialite turned-convicted sex-trafficker.

US District Judge Alison Nathan said the sentence of 240 months was “sufficient and no graver than necessary,” for Maxwell, who earlier addressed the court and told her victims, “I am sorry for the pain that you experienced.”

“I hope my conviction and harsh incarceration brings you pleasure,” said Maxwell, wearing blue jail scrubs, her dark brown locks cut in a bob.

MEXICO CITY, June 21 (Reuters) – Two Canadian citizens, a man and a woman, have been killed at the beach resort of Playa del Carmen on Mexico’s Caribbean coast, authorities said on Tuesday.

The killings in the state of Quintana Roo follow the fatal shooting in January of two Canadians with criminal records in nearby Cancun.

A senior state official told Reuters the man, whose identity has not been made public, was wanted by Interpol.

Had their throats cut. I wonder what flavour of Canadian they were.

‘Peace Circles’ Instead of Prisons Lead to Shootouts in Chicago

It’ll take a hell of a peace circle to raise the dead.

1,120 people have been shot this year in Chicago and 282 people have been murdered. Yesterday, four people were shot and killed in four hours in just another Wednesday.

Good thing the city has “peace circles”.

Police defunders have been tasked with coming up with “restorative justice” alternatives to the three P’s, police, prosecutors, and prisons, that ask criminals to apologize to their victims.

The Star saw the Sherman crime-scene and autopsy photos. How could a pathologist and police call it a murder-suicide?

The first person to find the bodies of Barry and Honey Sherman inside the pool room of their Forest Hill home had no doubt they were the victims of a double homicide.

“Someone has killed my clients,” Sherman real estate agent Elise Stern told the 911 operator on Dec. 15, 2017. The grotesque tableau she witnessed was to her untrained eye a double murder. The gardener, who saw the bodies a few minutes after, came to the same conclusion.

Ghislaine Maxwell asks court for sex trafficking sentence of ‘well below’ 20 years

Ghislaine Maxwell’s attorneys argued on Wednesday that the disgraced British socialite should be sentenced to “well below” the 20 years imprisonment that probation authorities have recommended in her New York federal sex-trafficking case.

In a pre-sentencing report, Maxwell’s attorneys provided detailed descriptions of her allegedly perilous conditions in jail, and described an emotionally distressing upbringing, as part of their argument for leniency.

They made the shocking allegation that “an inmate in Ms Maxwell’s unit threatened to kill her, claiming that an additional 20 years’ incarceration would be worth the money she’d receive for murdering Ms Maxwell”.
