Major retailers say Ontario families could pay hundreds more for groceries as new recycling costs balloon

The Retail Council of Canada says Ontario’s blue-box recycling program will cost companies $740 million in 2026 to run, nearly four times as much as when they shared the cost of curbside collection with municipalities before the program was privatized beginning in 2023.

The retail council is asking the provincial government to revamp the program to offset these costs for companies, which include any business or manufacturer whose materials end up in the blue box.

Time to Pull the Plug on “Environmental Justice”

Biden’s agenda was really a way to funnel billions of dollars to progressive activist groups.

On his first day in office, President Trump signed an executive order rolling back DEI policies across the federal bureaucracy. Moving almost as quickly, Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency investigators set off a firestorm by exposing the dubious spending priorities of USAID and other federal agencies. Now the White House is starting to dismantle the Biden administration’s vast “environmental justice” apparatus. Last week, Environmental Protection Agency administrator Lee Zeldin placed 160 employees in the agency’s Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights on paid leave. The move leaves “the environmental justice program at EPA on life support,” that office’s former deputy assistant administrator, Matthew Tejada, told NPR.

The Great Climate Fear Factory

If you found a worm in your sliced bread you would be horrified. You would probably share photos and outrage on social media and return the loaf to the shop you bought it from.

Consider then that mealworm powder has just been approved by the European Union as a novel food ingredient and is now legally allowed to constitute up to 4% of food products like bread, biscuits, cakes, cheese, pasta and potato-based snacks.

But why mealworms? Why bread? And why now?

‘Environmental Justice’ Is the Latest Biden-Era Initiative To Be Purged by Trump Administration

“Environmental justice” appears to be the latest Biden-era initiative on the chopping block as 168 employees of the Environmental Protection Agency’s environmental justice and civil rights office were put on administrative leave on Thursday.

The move comes as President Trump works to purge the government of “radical and wasteful” diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.

Leftist Leader in Germany Suggests Asylum For Millions of ‘Climate Refugees’

The leader of the Left Party in Germany has suggested that the country could grant asylum to a million migrants a year in order to protect them from “the consequences of climate change.”

During an interview with Funke Media Group, Jan van Aken said that Germany accepting a million new migrants every year was “a completely manageable number.”

We need to stop wetting ourselves about the weather

You may have seen the glorious painting, Flaming June by Frederic Leighton, showing a sleeping woman in an orange dress. Samuel Courtauld once called it ‘the most wonderful painting in existence’. But if it were to be painted today, I doubt whether the sensual masterpiece would be given the same name. Or, if it was, it might be given a trigger warning. The eco-activists wouldn’t be impressed: ‘June’s “flaming” because of climate change, you irresponsible boomers – let’s chuck some soup on it!’

Why Climate-Change Ideology Is Dying

Voters have concluded that the private jet-flying alarmists don’t really believe their own claims.

Momentous social movements begin to die the moment adherents figure out their leaders don’t believe what they say. Liberal Protestantism’s long decline started in the 1950s, when congregants began to wonder if their ministers still believed the old creeds (they didn’t). Communism dies wherever it’s tried because sooner or later the proletariat realize their self-appointed champions aren’t particularly interested in equality. Many sects and cults dwindle the moment their supposedly ascetic leaders are revealed to be libertines.

Something similar is happening to climate ideology.

Geoff Russ: Canada needs to scrap the Impact Assessment Act

After years of acrimony over the obvious, the Liberals and the NDP are finally embracing natural resources as a key prong of Canada’s economic future. BC Premier David Eby now unabashedly lauds LNG as crucial, while Liberal leadership contender Chrystia Freeland mentions natural resources as essential to strengthening the economy.

This was overdue, but one major roadblock stands in the way of a renaissance in the resource sector; Bill C-69, also known as the Impact Assessment Act (IAA).

‘Anti-car’ mayor brags of chauffeur-driven limousine on TikTok

The mayor of a council trying to cut car use by increasing residents’ parking charges has bragged about being driven in a taxpayer-funded limousine.

John-Paul Ennis, the mayor of Lambeth, boasted about his chauffeur during an interview on TikTok.

Describing the benefits of his role to DJ AG, an online influencer, the 27-year-old Labour councillor said he gets to wear a chain, “so that is pretty nice”. Smiling, he added: “You get a nice car as well, you get driven around … it’s sick.”

Trump takes on the climatecrats

Donald Trump has pulled America out of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement for the second time. The new US president signed an executive order following his inauguration yesterday, reversing the decision of his predecessor, Joe Biden, to drag the US back into the agreement in 2021. Bizarrely, like some dodgy insurance scam, the rules of the climatocracy say it takes a year to withdraw from the deal, so not until next winter will America be free of its obligations to reduce its emissions.

And Suddenly, Gavin Newsom’s Electric Car Mandate Looks Pretty Dumb to LA Fire Victims

He’ll save the inedible bait fish, the weed that no one’s ever heard of, elevate meritless executives, and kill the gas car. Those are the highest environmental aspirations of Gavin Newsom, the alleged visionary governor of California, whose distorted priorities have combined to create the conditions for LA Inferno 2025. As the smoke begins to clear, the cruel environy is dawning.

Just Stop Oil spray paint Charles Darwin’s grave at Westminster Abbey

Two Just Stop Oil protesters have sprayed paint on Charles Darwin’s grave at Westminster Abbey.

Alyson Lee, 66, and Di Bligh, 77, covered the memorial using orange paint with a message that said “1.5 is dead!” at around 10am on Monday morning.

It is a reference to reports last week that 2024 was the hottest year on record and the first to breach a key global warming threshold of 1.5C above pre-industrial temperatures.

Some Canadian EV buyers sour on Tesla after Elon Musk’s pivot to the right

When Jeff Cowie bought his first electric car in 2019, the Tesla Model 3 checked all the boxes: It meshed with his environmental ideals, offered a fun driving experience and the technology aligned with what he was used to as an avid Apple user.

Mr. Cowie admits he was also impressed by the bold ambitions of Tesla Inc.’s space-exploring chief executive officer, Elon Musk.

Just Stop Oil eco-zealots caught importing t-shirts made by low-paid factory workers more than 4,000 miles away

Just Stop Oil has been caught importing T-shirts made by low-paid workers in the Dominican Republic.

The eco activist group was branded a hypocrite for getting merchandise shipped from 4,000 miles away, rather than reducing its carbon footprint by having it made in Britain.

The average textile worker in the Caribbean country makes less than £40 a day, but JSO is charging £20 for the T-shirt.
