Jewish self-flagellation post-October 7 can be blamed on intersectionality – opinion

In 1240, King Louis IX of France arranged for a “disputation,” a debate, to “disprove and malign” Judaism and Jewish thought. On one side were four of the most distinguished rabbis of France – Yechiel of Paris, Moses of Courcy, Judah of Melun, and Samuel Ben Solomon of Château-Thierry. On the other was Nicholas Donin, a Franciscan monk. Donin, who was not born a Christian, had converted from Judaism.

During the two hundred years that followed, there were two other such debates, one in Barcelona in 1263 and another Tortosa in 1414. In both cases, representing the church were Jewish converts to Christianity.

Terry Glavin: Group banned in Germany gets carte blanche in Canada to glorify Hamas massacre

“We stand with the Palestinian resistance and their heroic and brave action on October 7. Long live October 7.”

It doesn’t get much clearer than that.

It was yet another harangue from Charlotte Kates, international co-ordinator for the Samidoun Prisoners Solidarity Network, one of the main groups behind the dozens of “pro-Palestine” rallies and demonstrations across Canada since the Hamas atrocities of October 7 last year. The savageries of that day led to the war in Gaza that has so far cost the lives of perhaps 30,000 Palestinians.

US says Israeli army units violated human rights

The US state department has found five units of the Israeli military responsible for gross violations of human rights in individual incidents, but says they will continue to receive US military backing.

All the incidents involved took place outside of Gaza before the current war.

Israel took corrective action in four units, giving “additional information” on the fifth, the department says.

This means all the units remain eligible for US military assistance.

McGill requests ‘police assistance’ over pro-Palestinian encampment

McGill University says it has “requested police assistance” about the pro-Palestinian encampment on its lower field.

The university says it failed to reach a resolution with the student demonstrators and “decided to take the final step in our protocol.”

Attorneys inside and outside the administration urge Biden to cut off arms to Israel

A coalition of lawyers domestic and abroad — including at least 20 that work in the Biden administration — are calling on President Joe Biden to halt military aid to Israel, arguing that its actions in Gaza do not comply with U.S. and international humanitarian law.

They plan to send a letter arguing their case to Attorney General Merrick Garland and general counsels across the administration in the coming days. In the letter, obtained by POLITICO, the lawyers contend that Israel likely violated U.S. statutes including the Arms Export Control Act and Leahy Laws as well as the Geneva Conventions prohibiting disproportionate attacks on civilian populations.

Gaza vs. Ukraine: Selective Outrage at America’s Colleges

It has been more than two years since Russia invaded Ukraine. If the latest predictions are correct, Russia may emerge victorious from this war in the coming months. They will probably do so by toppling the Ukrainian government and turning Ukraine into something similar to Belarus: a Russian protectorate.

It has also been about six months since Israel launched its invasion of Gaza. Their overall intention is to eradicate Hamas and secure a new government that is not hell-bent on destroying Israel. So far, they have not accomplished that goal, but the overall impression from a variety of news sources indicates that their victory is only a matter of time.
