Rahim Mohamed: Trudeau allergic to supporting Israel without a thousand caveats

The Liberal caucus found itself, once again, a house divided as the United Nations’ top court met this week to hear arguments put forth by South Africa that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.

As the first day of hearings at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) convened on Thursday, two Liberal MPs, Iqra Khalid and Omar Alghabra, released separate statements on X in support of South Africa’s submission against Israel.

Arrest protesters if they shout ‘jihad’ at London march, ministers told

Pro-Palestinian marchers chanting “jihad” at a protest on Saturday should be arrested, the government’s independent adviser on political violence and disruption has said.

Lord Walney added that protest organisers should contribute to the spiralling costs of policing as up to 200,000 people are anticipated in London for the first big demonstration of the year.

Police sources anticipate that the military action in Yemen will add to the crowds expected at the protest and that about 1,700 officers will be on the streets, some brought in from outside Scotland Yard.

Submarines, jets and laser-guided bombs – how precision strikes on the Houthis unfolded

Four Royal Air Force Typhoon jets slipped into Yemen’s airspace in the early hours of Friday morning, loaded with 230kg Paveway IV precision-guided bombs intended to pound rebel positions.

With a range of just 16 miles, the bombs were likely carried inland and then launched as part of a night-time raid responding to Houthi attacks on the Royal Navy in the Red Sea.

Explosions soon lit up the sky as an airbase, military camp and the Houthi’s Al-Masirah television station were targeted before the warplanes banked away to return to base, videos on the ground in Yemen show.

San Francisco: Hamas supporters make PIG NOISES and point pretend horns at Jewish man whose relatives were murdered Oct 7 as he tells council meeting he and his family no longer feel safe in the city

A Jewish man who lost family in the October 7 attacks was jeered at by protestors who made pig noises and pretend horns while at a San Francisco council meeting.

The incident occurred on January 8 at a San Francisco Board of Supervisors hearing scheduled the day before a vote on a resolution to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

In a moving speech to the Board the man described how his first cousins were killed at Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7.

Voice of America Staffers Posted Anti-Israel Content to Facebook

Two Voice of America staff members posted blatantly anti-Israel material on Facebook in the aftermath of the October 7 massacre and continuing through the Houthis’ ongoing campaign against civilian vessels in recent weeks, a review of their profiles by National Review found.

One of the posts appeared to call for the elimination of Israel in 2024. Even those that did not urge the country’s destruction clearly backed Palestinian or Hamas narratives, an ostensible violation of Voice of America’s standards guidance.

We underestimated the hatred and it is blowing up in our faces

Jews and Israelis underestimated the profound effect that the anti-Jewish narrative, coupled with a half-century of funding intersectionality, critical race and ANTI-ISRAEL theories, etc. would have on the coming generations.

Several weeks ago, Matti Friedman published a very astute piece about Hamas’ understanding about global Jew hatred–and the failure of Israeli and American Jewish organizations to do so. Just as the Israeli government did not anticipate the kind of attack that Hamas launched on 10/7, so too, did Jews and Israelis underestimate the profound effect that the anti-Jewish narrative, coupled with a half-century of funding intersectionality, critical race and ANTI-ISRAEL theories, etc. would have on the coming generations of students, professors, journalists, human rights activists, and public intellectuals in America.

We now see what their underestimation has led us to–a globalized Intifada, peopled by activists who have learned their public performance “tricks” from Act Up, Blacks Lives Matter, anarchists, anti-capitalist Marxists, and Democratic Socialists.

‘Establishment’ Jews Have Appeased Islamism and Abetted the Rise in Anti-Semitism

The unprecedented savagery and depravity of the October 7 pogrom in Israel shocked all decent-thinking people in the world. To many Jews living in the West it, and the reaction to it, came as a particularly brutal wake-up call. In the words of a self-styled former progressive leftist, Hamas “slaughtered his wokeness.” Shocking reactions—even of denial—to the murderous attack on Israeli civilians was the final straw that shattered his previous complacency, revealing to him the dark reality that “our Western culture is riddled with ambient anti-Semitism.”

The question we ask here is how did such complacency come about, that liberally minded Jews blinded themselves to this growing undercurrent in what was meant to be a “never again” world? How, in turn, has this contributed to, or even sanctioned, the rise of and support for Hamas and its Jihadist war against the Jewish state? In a word, how culpable are they? Has liberal Judaism appeased Islamism when it should have challenged it? Is it time they apologised for what has happened on their watch? The answer to all these questions, we believe, is yes.

A very interesting article.

Israel says South Africa distorting the truth in ICJ genocide case

Israel has said South Africa has distorted the truth in its case to the International Court of Justice, where it is accusing Israel of genocide.

South Africa had presented “a sweeping counter-factual description” of the Israel-Palestinian conflict, Israeli lawyer Tal Becker told the ICJ.

South Africa says Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians in its war in Gaza.

It is also asking the court to order Israel to halt its military activity.

The International Court Of “Injustice” Begins Its Blood Libel Trial Against Israel

International Court Of Justice – ICJ

The blood libel accusation against Israel has now begun in The Hague. The failed nation of South Africa has brought genocide charges against Israel in the International Court of Justice.

What is the International Court of Justice? It is not international, because it excludes judges from certain countries. It is not a real court, because the judges are selected by their countries and many of them simply follow the instructions of those who appointed them. And it has never done justice, because it has long been biased against Israel. It is the United Nations court, and that tells you all you need to know about it. The United Nations has become the megaphone of bigotry and anti-Semitism. As an Israeli diplomat once put it, if Algeria introduced a resolution that the earth is flat and that Israel flattened it, it would win 120 to 27 with 32 abstentions. And you can name the countries in each of the groups before any evidence is presented.

Toronto police chief reverses course, identifies ‘terrorist flag’ waved at demonstration

A day after refusing to identify the “terrorist flag” held at a demonstration last weekend that led to charges being laid against a man for public incitement of hatred, Toronto’s police chief said the flag belongs to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

On its website, Public Safety Canada lists both the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine — General Command (PFLP-GC) as “terrorist entities.”

I’m not buying this as anything other than a “Happy now? Then shut up and go away” gesture.

Coupled with the magical discovery of laws allowing a ban on Avenue Rd. protests after the meeting between Trudeau and the Chief the Liberals must hope it all just goes away.

But it won’t after this … let’s see how Hamas reacts.

Surprise … Canada doesn’t support premise of South Africa’s case against Israel

The post-Oct. 7 era of official antisemitism begins

It’s easy to think of the opening of the International Court of Justice’s trial of Israel that began this week in The Hague as just more of the same from the international community. The notion that a country that was the victim of a grotesque terrorist assault on Oct. 7 that involved the largest mass slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust should be arraigned before the world’s highest tribunal for defending itself against the perpetrators of that crime is patently absurd. But if you think the ICJ’s kangaroo court cannot harm the Jewish state or that this obvious miscarriage of justice will soon be forgotten, then you haven’t been paying attention to much of what has happened in the last three months.

I doubt that it is possible to put the genie back in the bottle.

Our politicians chase votes not integrity or decency or justice. Numbers mean power and that is their only God
