Justin Trudeau has both good and bad reasons for turning his back on Israel

U.S. President Joe Biden may or may not have had Canada in mind when he warned this week that Israel is losing international support amid the soaring civilian death toll its army has wrought in Gaza.

Canadian foreign policy rarely catches Washington’s attention unless it involves some bilateral irritant that has upset one faction or another in Congress. But Canada’s move to join Australia and New Zealand in calling Tuesday for a “sustained ceasefire” in Gaza was likely noteworthy enough to be included in Mr. Biden’s daily intelligence briefing. Washington would surely have had advance notice of Canada’s evolving position; it may even have encouraged it.

The good reasons seem to be about appeasing and hopefully retaining the voter loyalty of “Canadian” Hamas supporters for the LPC.

‘This Will Not Soon Be Forgotten’: Canada’s Backing of UN Ceasefire Resolution Divides Liberals, Angers Jewish Community

Jewish advocacy groups are criticizing Canada’s decision to back a UN resolution calling for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, with the country reversing its position held since the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks.

“We’re disgusted and frankly shocked that only hours after issuing a statement that a ceasefire would only be possible under the condition that Hamas release the hostages, stop its use of Palestinians as human shields, lay down its arms, and surrender its control of Gaza, Canada voted in support of a UN General Assembly resolution supporting a ceasefire,” Shimon Koffler Fogel, president and CEO of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) said in a statement Dec. 12.

DEI Is Welfare For People Like Claudine Gay Who Couldn’t Get A Job Without Identity Politics

Claudine Gay – DEI Dunce

The board of Harvard unanimously voted to retain the university’s president Claudine Gay despite her public refusal to say that calls for genocide of Jewish students would contradict Harvard’s code of conduct — and subsequent allegations of past plagiarism.

“Our extensive deliberations affirm our confidence that President Gay is the right leader to help our community heal and to address the very serious societal issues we are facing,” the Harvard Corporation announced in a statement on Tuesday.

‘Nothing will stop us’ – Netanyahu says war against Hamas will continue despite global pressure

Israel will continue its war on Hamas even if it loses international support, the Israeli prime minister has said.

Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that Israel would “go all the way” in its war in Gaza, during a visit to a military base in southern Israel.

“We’re going all the way, there’s no question about it,” he told troops. “I say this despite the huge pain, but also despite international pressures. Nothing will stop us, we’re going all the way, until we’re victorious, and nothing less.”

John Ivison: Canada’s UN ceasefire vote reveals what we’ve become — undependable, unprincipled and foolish

Bob Rae was caught on a hot microphone, just after he joined in calls for a ceasefire in Gaza late Tuesday.

“We’ll see how that flies,” Canada’s ambassador at the United Nations said, off camera, after telling the UN general assembly that Canada supports the “humanitarian ceasefire” proposed in a resolution that was supported by 153 countries and opposed by just 10.

Woke Cowardice: Wrong University Presidents at the Wrong Time

The forced resignation of the president of the University of Pennsylvania is a good first step in dealing with a far more pervasive problem in higher education.

The three university presidents who disgraced themselves and their universities by their abysmal testimony before the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce represent a far larger concern.

In recent years, many universities have selected as their presidents woke, progressive cowards who pander to the most extreme and most vocal left-wing students and professors. They are the wrong people, at the wrong time, to be leading American educational institutions.

Majority Of Gaza Residents Support Hamas Attack Of Oct 7 & Claim No War Crimes Committed

Wartime Palestinian poll shows surge in Hamas support, close to 90% want US-backed Abbas to resign

… The survey provided insights about Palestinian views of the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas and other Gaza militants on southern Israel, in which about 1,200 people were killed, most of them civilians. Israel’s subsequent war on Hamas has killed more than 18,400 Palestinians, about two-thirds of them women and children, in a sustained bombing campaign and ground offensive in Gaza, now in its third month.

Despite the devastation, 57% of respondents in Gaza and 82% in the West Bank believe Hamas was correct in launching the attack, the poll indicated. A large majority believed Hamas’ claims that it acted to defend a major Islamic shrine in Jerusalem against Jewish extremists and win the release of Palestinian prisoners. Only 10% said they believed Hamas has committed war crimes, with a large majority saying they did not see videos showing the militants committing atrocities.

Trudeau wants to bring thousands of these depraved monsters to Canada.

After escaping war, thousands of Ukrainians want to stay in Canada permanently … But will that serve as precedent to open the floodgates for the mass import of Hamas supporters?

Tens of thousands of Ukrainians who fled the war in their homeland for safety in Canada under a temporary visa program are pressing Ottawa to allow them to settle here permanently.

When Russia invaded Ukraine in February, 2022, the Canadian government swiftly enacted the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET), allowing an unlimited number of Ukrainians fleeing the war to work, study and stay in Canada for up to three years.

I have zero problem with this however it will almost certainly be used as a precedent by the sleazebag Trudeau government to import Hamas supporters by the tens of thousands and that has to be stopped.  The usual suspects are already whining that Hamas supporters are victims of a racist Canada that does not treat them like the normal Ukraine refugees.

Video appears to show officer with knee on Hamas support rally attendee’s neck, police say it didn’t happen

A group of protesters who staged a rally in support of Palestinians last weekend released video Tuesday of a violent arrest that appears to show an officer kneeling on a man’s neck. But Toronto police say the tactic — something the former chief said cops are not trained to do — wasn’t used.

The Toronto chapter of the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), which helped organize the Sunday rally in downtown Toronto, said in a statement that an “attendee was brutalized and arrested” at the event.

Israel Begins Pumping Seawater Into Hamas’s Gaza Tunnels

Israel’s military has begun pumping seawater into Hamas’s vast complex of tunnels in Gaza, according to U.S. officials briefed on the Israeli military’s operations, part of an intensive effort to destroy the underground infrastructure that has underpinned the group’s operations.

The move to flood the tunnels with water from the Mediterranean, which is in an early stage, is one of several techniques Israel is using to try to clear and destroy the tunnels.

Liberal caucus meets after Canada votes for Israel-Hamas ceasefire at United Nations

OTTAWA – Liberal MPs are set to gather for what is expected to be their final caucus meeting of the year, a day after Canada shifted its stance to join international calls for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Canada’s vote at the United Nations General Assembly was a departure from its long-standing policy of voting alongside Israel at the international body, which on Tuesday overwhelmingly voted to demand a humanitarian ceasefire.

Turkish lawmaker has a heart attack after saying Israel ‘will suffer the wrath of Allah’

A Turkish lawmaker who declared that Israel “will suffer the wrath of Allah” went into cardiac arrest and collapsed on the floor of Parliament Tuesday — mere moments after delivering his harsh critique of his country’s response to the Israel-Hamas war.

Startling footage shows Hasan Bitmez, 53, standing behind the podium before suddenly falling to the ground while addressing the Grand Assembly of the Turkish National Assembly.

Mélanie Joly fails moral clarity test on Israel

Help my fingers are locked!

The Liberals must be proud of themselves. They’ve spent the two months since Hamas slaughtered 1,200 Israelis, kicking off the war in Gaza, by ensuring no one thinks they support Israel too much. For example, the government abstained, rather than oppose, a UN motion in October calling for an immediate “truce” between Jerusalem and Hamas.
