Leslie Roberts: A Jewish man is attacked in front of his daughter, his kippah thrown in a puddle

Montreal — An identifiably Jewish man was walking with his family in a quiet Montreal neighbourhood where a large Hasidic Jewish community makes its home, when he was violently attacked on Friday afternoon. He was repeatedly punched to the ground, his kippah ripped from his head and thrown into a splash pad.

The assault, caught on video and widely shared on social media, shows his young daughter clutching his arm as it unfolded. He ended up in hospital. His attacker fled.

Jewish Father Brutally Assaulted in Montreal Park While Children Watch in Terror

Thank Canada’s elites and their swell immigration policy.

If you advocate for mass immigration, DEI, multicult and diversity you are the enemy of Canada.

Some further context, was it a random attack by a deranged individual, was it antisemitic or both?

Israel losing Canadian hearts and minds as poll shows growing outrage over Gaza

OTTAWA – A new poll suggests Israel is losing the battle for hearts and minds in Canada, with more Canadians now reporting their sympathies lie with Palestinians due to moral outrage over the war in Gaza.

Another poll suggests a slight majority of younger Canadians now say they’re optimistic about the prospects for peace in the Middle East — just as the broader public’s mood returns to the pessimism seen decades ago.

“There is absolutely disappointment in the actions of the current Israeli government,” said Adam Chapnick, a professor with the Royal Military College.

Online polls are not a hill to die on and given much of our media are water carriers for Hamas they cannot be trusted.

US pro-Palestinian activist paid $75k to protest, funding traces back to Chinese Communist Party

One of the lead organizers of pro-Palestine rallies in New York – David (Sung Mo) Chung – is paid $75,000 to protest, Nate Friedman first revealed in an investigation that he posted to his social media.

Friedman has been talking to people at protests for over a year, and now works to uncover professional protesters. He first came across Chung at a “Hands Off Iran” protest in NYC, he told The Jerusalem Post in an interview on Thursday. Friedman was trying to speak to a man with a flag that read, “There is no god but Allah,” but just “two sentences into the interview, another man interrupted and pulled the guy aside, and told him they were getting ready to march.” The other man was Chung.

Children of Eurabia are named after Hamas leaders

Perhaps New Statesman was right to headline: “The West is bored to death.”

Every day we invent a controversy over phantom “racism.”

And while the West dies of boredom and drifts into nothingness talking about mansplaining and misgendering, a death cult rises in Eurabia.

Imagine if in 1945, hundreds of Europeans had named newborns “Adolf,” a name that unsurprisingly disappeared after WWII.

Today, 583 baby boys in the UK have been named “Yahya”.

Terry Glavin: Synagogue vandalism shows being ‘progressive’ no shield against antisemitism

They were gathering at the conclusion of last weekend’s Shabbat at the Congregation Emanu-El synagogue in downtown Victoria for an evening reading from the Book of Lamentations and the usual chants and prayers to mark Tisha B’Av, the holiest day of mourning in the Jewish calendar.

It’s a time of fasting and reflection that marks the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem, and the tribulations that followed the Jews down through the ages.

Israeli Security Cabinet Approves Full Military Takeover of Gaza

Israeli leaders early on Friday approved a plan for the gradual military takeover of all of Gaza, a pivotal and risky decision that went against the recommendations of the Israeli military and promised to take the nearly two-year war into uncharted terrain.

After 10 hours of deliberations, a majority of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet backed his proposal to prepare to conquer the core of Gaza City, according to a pre-dawn statement from his office,

At a later stage, the military is expected to push into central areas of the enclave where Hamas is believed to be holding Israeli hostages and where the military has largely refrained from operating before.

Michael Higgins: The United Church’s abhorrent excuses for October 7

It is loathsome when anyone describes the butchery that happened in Israel on October 7 as an act of “resistance,” but it is particularly troubling when it comes from people within the United Church of Canada.

Such hateful rhetoric can be found in a proposal that will be considered by the church’s general council meeting, which starts Thursday. It begins by stating that “the Gaza genocide is the most recent and most severe expression of the colonialist oppression of the state of Israel upon the Palestinian people.”

That is one sick church.

The secret system Hamas uses to pay government salaries

After nearly two years of war, Hamas’s military capability is severely weakened and its political leadership under intense pressure.

Yet, throughout the war Hamas has managed to continue to use a secret cash-based payment system to pay 30,000 civil servants’ salaries totalling $7m (£5.3m).

The BBC has spoken to three civil servants who have confirmed they have received nearly $300 each within the last week.

I bet Canada’s UNRWA tithe helps.

Israeli security cabinet to meet over plan to fully occupy Gaza

Israel’s security cabinet is meeting on Thursday to decide on whether to order a complete military takeover of the Gaza Strip – a move the UN says would risk “catastrophic consequences”.

Israeli media say Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sees this as the only way to destroy Hamas and free hostages still held by the group following the breakdown of ceasefire talks.

Reports, though, say the head of the military and some ministers disagree, amid warnings such a move could be disastrous for the hostages and Palestinian civilians.

GOLDSTEIN: A Palestinian state won’t lead to peace in the Mideast

Carney speaks at a Muslim Brotherhood function

The latest call for the creation of a Palestinian state by Prime Minister Mark Carney and the leaders of many other countries is a classic example of politicians believing they have to say something and this is something.

The political fraud inherent in this call, however, is the implication that creating a Palestinian state will end the suffering of the Palestinians and ensure Israel’s security.

Israeli president decries Hamas ‘manipulation’ after German media exposes ‘staged’ Gaza photography

JERUSALEM — During a visit to Tallinn, Estonia, on Wednesday, Israeli President Isaac Herzog used a joint press appearance with Estonia’s president to call out what he described as Hamas-led propaganda efforts, citing recent investigative reports from leading German newspapers that revealed “staged” images from Gaza.

Richard Robertson: Carney’s Palestine recognition a foreign policy blunder

Last week, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that Canada intends to recognize a Palestinian state in September. This would be a dangerous, highly premature decision — and a foreign policy blunder that could embarrass Canada while compounding the crisis in the Middle East instead of bringing Israelis and Palestinians anywhere closer to a lasting peace.

If it means winning the Muslim-Left vote bloc then Carney is happy.

Canada’s reputation was destroyed under Trudeau’s reign.

There are no eggs left to break so Carney may as well go along to get along with whoever he might strike a deal with.

How Hamas Sees the West’s Recognition of ‘Palestine’

The recent announcements by France, Britain, Canada and other countries that they intend to recognize a Palestinian state have emboldened the Iran-backed Palestinian terror group Hamas. Its members, on October 7, 2023, were behind the worst crime committed against Jews since the Holocaust. The massacre resulted in the murder of more than 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals and the wounding of thousands. In addition, another 251 Israelis and foreign nationals were kidnapped to the Gaza Strip, where 50 hostages – 30 believed dead and 20 believed alive – are still held captive.
