The Iran-backed Palestinian terrorist group Hamas has chosen arch-terrorist Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind of the October 7, 2023, atrocities against thousands of Israelis, as the chairman of its “political bureau.” Sinwar, who has been hiding in the Gaza Strip since the Hamas-led attack, will take over from Ismail Haniyeh, the former chairman of the group’s “political bureau,” who was killed in the Iranian capital of Tehran on July 31.
In a sensational domestic terrorism case, late last month, the RCMP arrested an ISIS-inspired father-son duo who were allegedly plotting to carry out a mass casualty attack in Toronto. It was later revealed that Canadian authorities had inexplicably permitted the father to immigrate to Canada and granted him citizenship, despite allegedly appearing in an ISIS propaganda video in which he is seen dismembering a prisoner.
Within any group of people, there are large disagreements. Jews are certainly no different, having probably as many opinions on the goings-on in the Middle East as there are Jewish people. Even those who support Israel are on a spectrum, with some being more critical of Israeli actions and policies, and others being more supportive.
We’re all entitled to our own perspectives (though not facts). That means that those Jews who aren’t supportive of Israeli actions are certainly entitled to a voice — as individuals.
Israel Has Finally Been Driven Sane, and not a moment too soon. The war in Gaza may be the last chance for the Liberal West to stop the decline that we all feel but have trouble naming.
The rest of western civilization is still crazy… Here is the crux of it. Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and their lord and master Iran have long enjoyed the devil’s own advantage over The West. Let me make one thing very clear; we are The West. This is life and death stuff and we have been compromised.
One hostage held by Hamas in Gaza has been killed by the Hamas terrorist assigned to guard him, and another two female hostages have been seriously injured, the spokesperson of the Hamas armed wing, Abu Obeida, announced on Telegram on Monday.
The terrorist group stated that a committee was formed to investigate the incident and will announce the details later.
The recently appointed chief commissioner of the Canadian Human Rights Commission says he has agreed to resign today after an investigation into comments he made in the past related to Israel.
The justice minister launched an investigation after Canadian Jewish organizations raised concerns about Birju Dattani’s past activities.
The repeated hiring of antisemitic Muslims will be Trudeau’s legacy.
Britain’s antisemitism problem continues to grow. A report from the Community Security Trust (CST), a charity that monitors racist attacks and abuse against British Jews, documents 1,978 incidents in the first six months of 2024. That is the highest figure ever recorded for the first half of any year and a 105 per cent increase on the same period in 2023. It is no coincidence that this comes after the October 7 attack, in which Palestinian terrorists invaded Israel, killed 1,200 people, raped women and took 250 hostages. As the CST noted in a previous report, October 7 occasioned an outbreak of antisemitic activity in the UK long before any Israeli military response was under way. This latest report confirms the connection, with 52 per cent of incidents linked to Israel or its war against Hamas in Gaza.
For all Iran’s threats to retaliate against Israel for assassinating key Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, the key concern for the ayatollahs will be that, in any confrontation with the Israeli military, they have no chance of winning.
Tensions between Iran and Israel have risen considerably since Israel was accused of carrying out the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran shortly after the swearing in ceremony for Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian last month.
When Gill Kazevman applied to medical school, and circulated his CV to physician mentors, ‘their most consistent feedback was, “Do not mention anything relating to Israel” ’
Nagasaki’s Peace Park held a ceremony today to mark the seventy-ninth anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on the city (which killed 74,000 people). It was a sombre and moving occasion, as it always is, and one usually attended by high level representatives of all nations. This year was different though: the ambassadors of the US, UK and Israel were elsewhere, holding their own memorial at a Buddhist temple in Tokyo, 750 miles away.
A prominent member of the Jewish Federation of Ottawa feels “targeted and unwelcome” and fears for his safety due to pro-Palestinian messaging by Capital Pride in advance of its Aug. 25 parade.
On Tuesday, Capital Pride posted a political statement on Instagram related to the ongoing war in Gaza. “By portraying itself as a protector of the rights of queer and trans people in the Middle East, Israel seeks to draw attention away from its abhorrent human rights abuses against Palestinians,” the statement said.
As far as breaches of the peace go, Dominic Cardy’s effort last week looked pretty tame. The former New Brunswick cabinet minister and current independent MLA was in Toronto with his wife when he noticed the ruckus from hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters thronging the city’s Yonge and Dundas intersection.
Mr. Cardy said in an interview that he then decided to exercise his own right to free expression by launching a one-man counterprotest, striding into the crowd and shouting “Free Palestine, from Hamas.”
And for that, he was arrested for breach of the peace by police, handcuffed, jailed for two hours and then released.

We have an antisemitism Czar. Her name is Deb. Deb is concerned at the silence she is hearing. Over the years I attended many pro-Israel protests and it resulted in myself and allies being labeled Islamophobes and racists by members of the Jewish community and other of our so called leaders in government and the press. Some of those accusers made careers virtue signaling their anti-racism and became proponents of DEI and CRT. The White working class was demonized as innately racist and deserving of humiliating re-education efforts.
This demonization was supported by our elites who used it to silence dissent and steamroll the mass immigration of incompatible cultures as they reworked Canada’s demographic into the malevolent multicultural nightmare we find ourselves facing today.
On Oct 7 our accusers were among those who sent out cries for help. Now Deb wonders where everybody is.
I agree with the excellent points that Kevin Lynch and Ian Thompson make here:
“Being against antisemitism is not good enough for non-jews — we need to speak out loudly and frequently. We need to push back against disinformation and separate the lies from the facts. We need to…
Port Coquitlam mayor Brad West has called on authorities to investigate a local imam who called for the annihilation of Jews and supporters of Israel.
He condemned the “vile hatred” espoused by Masjid Alhidaya’s Adnan Abyat, saying in no uncertain terms that such an ideology was not welcome in his community.

British Jews have endured months of racism from Islamists and the left, but too few called it out.
For the peripheral observer, the madness of the past week in the UK might be summed up by a singular image: a group of white men in Leicester performing a full Sieg Heil. But for me, it’s the image of a person of colour making the exact same gesture in London that is far more illuminating. In fact, it’s the different reactions both have elicited across the political spectrum that get us tantalisingly close to understanding how we have arrived at this grim moment. It might even point to how we can exit the swirling whirlpool of community clashes that threaten to drag our society down to the depths.
