Actor and hardcore liberal George Clooney has packed up his wife and their 8-year-old twins and headed off to France, where they have become French citizens. Why? To escape Hollywood culture. The irony is that the very same liberal ideology and policies Clooney has long championed helped create the culture he is now fleeing. And yet he appears to have learned absolutely nothing from the experience, clinging to those same beliefs.
An unsung tragic aspect of the total wreckage Hollywood has become is that every year we lose the greats who turned the screen industry into something magical, never to be replaced by the little people now destroying it. There are very few film legends left, and 2025 took away far too many of them. One of the most iconic died just last Sunday — Brigitte Bardot.
Starting in 2029, the irrelevant Oscars will have its annual irrelevant Academy Awards show broadcast on — lol — YouTube.
To dwindling ratings and cultural relevance, the Oscars have been broadcast on ABC since 1976. The final broadcast will occur in 2028, which also happens to be the 100th anniversary of the award ceremony.
Netflix has canceled its gay military series “Boots,” which the Pentagon previously labeled “woke garbage,” according to multiple reports.
“Boots” followed the story of Cameron Cope, played by Miles Heizer, a gay teen from Louisiana who is bullied and “finds new purpose — and unexpected brotherhood — with his motley team of fellow recruits,” according to Netflix.

For fifteen years I’ve scalped tickets to pay the bills. But in January 2016 I almost managed a real career. I was thirty-one, I’d been in Los Angeles for five years writing scripts. There had been minor successes, a couple of small projects optioned, and I’d recently started writing with my best friend. We were writing constantly, making each other better, building momentum.
Success felt close. Back then it always did.
We’d written a pilot script that a veteran showrunner had agreed, in a very theoretical, very Hollywood sort of way, to “come on” to. That project had fizzled, so we were surprised when an executive emailed us out of the blue to meet. The showrunner explained he’d submitted us for an upcoming writer’s room he was going to run—the exec had loved our pilot and wanted to hire us.
This was it, the moment our careers were supposed to take off. We’d put in our time—I’d been tutoring SATs and reselling tickets to make ends meet while I wrote—and five years seemed par for the course, based on the slightly older guys we knew who’d made it.
But of course, by 2016, we were already too late.

Tilly Norwood, an “actress” built with artificial intelligence, comes from humble beginnings, popping into the mind of Eline Van der Velden while the producer was in the restroom at London’s private Groucho Club. By the time Van der Velden got home, her mind was made up:
She was going to make the first AI movie star.
Van der Velden shared her vision with ChatGPT, typing out a short description of her ideal candidate: “A stunning female celebrity with global appeal. She has symmetrical facial features, clear radiant skin, and captivating green eyes. Her hair is long.”
The Directors Guild of America (DGA) is set to meet with Netflix as theater owners call its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery an “unprecedented threat” to the movie business.
“The news that Netflix had secured exclusive rights to negotiate for WBD [Warner Bros. Discovery] raises significant concerns for the DGA,” the labor union said in a statement to TheWrap.
“We believe that a vibrant, competitive industry — one that fosters creativity and encourages genuine competition for talent — is essential to safeguarding the careers and creative rights of directors and their teams,” the guild said in a statement,” the DGA added.
Netflix’ embrace of AI has given Hollywood a nervous breakdown.
The Democrats have a long history of being in bed with entertainment industry elites. I don’t like to use the word “Hollywood” when writing about the lefties in showbiz, because there are a lot of conservatives working behind the cameras there. Most of the stars, as we are painfully aware, are enthusiastic socialists, mostly because they can afford to be.
Some were heavily marketed. Many were championed by critics. Most had star power.
But not one of the 25 dramas and comedies that movie companies released in North American theaters over the past three months has become a hit, certainly not in the way that Hollywood has historically kept score. Some have played to near-empty auditoriums, including “After the Hunt,” staring Julia Roberts; “Christy,” with Sydney Sweeney; and “Die My Love,” featuring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson.
“To succeed in theaters today, dramas and comedies must have event status — something truly elevated and special,” said Kevin Goetz, an author of the new book “How to Score in Hollywood,” which looks at film bankability.
Jennifer Lawrence had a recent epiphany stating actors were only succeeding in creating division with their unasked for opinions and that she would personally cease to offer hers.
Left unsaid was the impact alienating half of your potential audience was having on the Box Office.
One thing about AI actors they are unlikely to care much about politics.
One of the hallmarks of conservative thinking is the acknowledgement that politics isn’t everything. Some things transcend – or should transcend – that earthbound, combative cesspit: God, family, and country, to name three. Of course, politics necessarily comes into play in the ways we approach and engage with those transcendent things. But conservatives by and large are able to keep politics compartmentalized in our daily lives.
Actor Billy Bob Thornton is sick and tired of his fellow actors pushing their political positions onto fans at awards shows.
Appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Thornton advised celebrities to just “accept your little award and fuck off.”
Thornton, 70, recalled how British comedian Rickey Gervais spent much of his time at the 2020 Golden Globes roasting the celebrities.
Actress Jennifer Lawrence is finally embracing what we’ll call the Michael Jordan Principle, realizing Republicans watch movies, too. Jordan’s sneakers statement is probably apocryphal, but it contains a grain of truth that Hollywood has largely ignored for years.
Not counting the pandemic year of 2020, the October of 2025 box office earned just $425 million. That’s the worst October showing since 1997.

It’s actually worse than that.
As great as I found director Scott Cooper’s Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, nothing about its box office failure is surprising. And it is not only a failure; it is a shocking failure for box office analysts who projected an opening as high as $25 million with a $15 million worst case.
