Trudeau Is Now an Authoritarian

The liberties guaranteed by the Canadian Constitution are now subject to his veto.

King Charles ignored constitutional limits on his power and thereby ignited a civil war that cost him his life and put England under a military dictatorship for more than a decade. The profound constitutionalist John Selden reflected on this shortly after the king’s execution and before the eventual restoration of the constitution after Oliver Cromwell’s death:

There is no stretching of power; it is a good rule — eat within your stomach, act within your commission.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau certainly is acting like someone who has eaten more than his stomach can hold, as well as far exceeding his commission.

Why is the left silent on Trudeau’s crackdown?

Civil liberties have been sacrificed to the culture war.

Last month I gave a speech at the ‘Kill the Bill’ rally in Westminster, with a bunch of fellow lefties who were rightly angry at Priti Patel’s proposed Policing Bill, which would have essentially outlawed protests. Jeremy Corbyn was there (obviously), as were other well-known names from the left, many of whom I am friendly with and respect a lot. There was much impassioned rhetoric about the worrying resurgence of authoritarianism around the world.

The Real Terrorist Attack Trudeau Ignored While Cracking Down on the Freedom Convoy

In justifying his invocation of the Emergencies Act and turning Canada into a police state, Justin Trudeau falsely claimed that the Freedom Convoy was “not a peaceful protest” and asserted that “the blockades are harming our economy and endangering public safety.” Unsurprisingly, however, Trudeau’s outrage was selective: on Thursday, Canada suffered a genuine terror attack that was not a peaceful protest and that undeniably hurt the Canadian economy and endangered public safety, yet Trudeau didn’t say a word. The terrorists in question were Leftists, so they got a pass.

Trudeau calls for national healing after truckers’ blockade over COVID curbs

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday said Canada had to start healing after police cleared downtown Ottawa of a truckers’ blockade that had paralyzed the city for three weeks in a protest against COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

Are Canadians ever going to get sick of Justin Trudeau?

Recently, Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau essentially called Melissa Lantsman, a conservative member of the Canadian Parliament, a swastika-waving Nazi.  This wasn’t just the usual disgusting and preposterously hysterical hyperbole employed by leftists.  This was particularly egregious, as Lantsman is a descendant of Holocaust survivors.  But in what passes for the mind of the prime minister, she had to be savaged because she dared to defend the truckers who are protesting his draconian mandates and increasingly brutal police-state actions.

Harry Rakowski: Trudeau needs to stop using COVID as a wedge

The current pandemic and differences of opinion over how to manage it has led to fractured friendships and increasingly hostile interactions. The mounting social, economic and emotional costs of nearly two years of restrictions and lockdowns have frustrated almost everyone. We all want our freedoms back and for the public health restrictions to end.

Justin Trudeau Eulogized Fidel Castro

“It is with deep sorrow that I learned today of the death of Cuba’s longest serving President. Fidel Castro was a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century. A legendary revolutionary and orator, Mr. Castro made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation,” said Justin Trudeau in 2016. “I know my father was very proud to call him a friend and I had the opportunity to meet Fidel when my father passed away. It was also a real honour to meet his three sons and his brother President Raúl Castro during my recent visit to Cuba. On behalf of all Canadians, Sophie and I offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and many, many supporters of Mr. Castro. We join the people of Cuba today in mourning the loss of this remarkable leader.”

Jewish Experts, Professors Condemn Trudeau’s Nazi ‘Smear Campaign’ Against Freedom Convoy Protesters

A group of top Israeli researchers and physicians denounced Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday for repeatedly comparing a group of protesters in Ottawa to Nazis.

Nearly two dozen professors and experts wrote a letter to the prime minister on Friday, denouncing his comments toward the protesters and members of Canada’s opposition Conservative Party. The group also hit Trudeau over his refusal to lighten “draconian” COVID-19 restrictions in light of the protests.

Trudeau must bear the blame for his divisive words and actions

Justin Trudeau helped bring on this day.

The Prime Minister must accept much of the responsibility for one of the largest police operations in Canadian history, launched Friday, to break up a weeks-long occupation of Ottawa’s downtown core by protesters.

His divisive actions over the past six months contributed to the mess: the city centre cordoned off by police; Parliament forced to suspend a sitting; the first invocation of the Emergencies Act since it was enacted; dozens of arrests.

This is on him.

Your Afternoon Musical Interlude

The protest song edition:

For those who held the line:

I’ve been saving this song for when Justin is deposed or before he mishandles some cutlery and asks the fatal question: “Why can’t Mr. Fork and Mr. Electrical Outlet be friends and shake hands?”:
