The Skewed Nashville-Shooting Coverage

On this Friday edition of The Editors, Rich, Charlie, and MBD are appalled at the skewed media coverage in the wake of the horrific shooting at a Christian school in Nashville.

Charlie doesn’t think he’s “ever seen an incident such as this one in which the perpetrator has been treated, reflexively, as if she were the victim. It seems to me that the press just writes the same thing, whatever happens. If a Christian had killed six transgender people, what would look different about the headlines in media segments that we’ve seen? . . . I can’t move for pieces about how this has ‘sent a chill through the transgender community.’ I have seen precisely zero pieces about how this has and should have scared Christian children.

Groomed to Kill

The massacre in Nashville is not the fault of conservatives, it is the bitter fruit of a madness that has poisoned an entire generation.

After the horrific massacre in Nashville, the Democratic Party is hellbent on feeding the malignant narcissism of the “trans community,” in which they see a reliable, perpetually aggrieved voter base and a tool with which to terrorize society.

This isn’t “Christian nationalism.” Virtually every institution is sending a message that murderous violence toward Christians is acceptable, or at least less bad than exposing the “trans community” to obloquy. Law enforcement is obstructing the release of the manifesto. Merrick Garland won’t call it a hate crime, and neither will Joe Biden, who apparently thinks this is all a big joke.

Las Vegas mass shooter Stephen Paddock opened fire after losing $1.5 MILLION while gambling weeks before massacring 60, newly-released FBI files reveal

The Las Vegas mass shooter Stephen Paddock killed 60 people and injured hundreds more after losing $1.5million gambling weeks before the shooting, new FBI files revealed.

An FBI interview with the gunman’s fellow gambler detailed in hundreds of pages of documents made public this week’s suggests his loss could have been an influence.

The other gambler, whose name is redacted in the documents, said he believes the stress could have easily caused gunman Stephen Paddock ‘to snap.’ Paddock, 64, was a video poker player who relied on gambling as his main source of income.

Cory Morgan: Report on NS Massacre Should Have Given Woke Politics a Miss and Stuck With the Facts

On April 18, 2020, Gabriel Wortman went on a violent 12-hour rampage leaving 22 people dead and three injured in Nova Scotia. The incident was marked with panic, miscommunication, and signs of outright incompetence from the RCMP as they tried to get the situation under control.

An inquiry into what happened was needed, and we got one.

Canada mass shooting inquiry identifies many police failings

TRURO, Nova Scotia (AP) — A public inquiry has found widespread failures in how Canada’s federal police force responded to the country’s worst mass shooting and recommends that the government rethink the Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s central role in the country’s policing.

In a seven-volume report released Thursday, the Mass Casualty Commission also says the RCMP missed red flags in the years leading up to the Nova Scotia rampage that resulted in 22 people being slain April 18-19, 2020 by a denture maker disguised as a RCMP officer and driving a replica police vehicle.

Nashville Tragedy Shows Why It Isn’t Compassionate To Fuel Mental Illness

It’s difficult to fathom that several families started their day with one less precious child around the breakfast table this morning. It’s also hard to fathom responding to that reality — caused by a transgender mass shooter who left three 9-year-olds and several adults dead in a “targeted attack” at a Christian elementary school — by confessing you misgendered the murderer and blasting your political opponents over the same tired gun-control talking points.

But behind all the partisan smoke and mirrors of the Nashville story is an unmistakable and unavoidable reality: Our modern mental health crisis is out of control.

Hamburg police were tipped off about gunman but did not take his weapon

A tipoff was received two months ago by the authorities in Hamburg about the gunman who went on to kill seven people including an unborn baby in a Jehovah’s Witness hall, but he had persuaded officials not to take away his gun.

An anonymous letter was received by the weapons control authority in January raising concerns about a man named by German police as Philipp F, 35, saying that he appeared angry with his former fellow church members, but officers had found no reason for concern when they visited him last month.
