Jagmeet Singh’s NDP are taking votes away from Justin Trudeau — but are losing some support to Pierre Poilievre, poll finds

OTTAWA — When New Democrats convene in Hamilton this week for their national policy convention, party faithful will be marking a bevy of firsts.

It’s the first time party delegates will gather under one roof since the NDP’s 2018 convention, after the COVID-19 pandemic reduced the party’s 2021 affair to a virtual format beset by technical glitches.

It’s the first time grassroots members will make their feelings known about Leader Jagmeet Singh since his deal with the Trudeau government, which could see the NDP prop up the slumping Liberals for nearly two more years.

Ontario NDP leader asks Hamilton MPP to retract statement on Israel-Gaza war

Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles called on one of the party’s members to retract a statement on the Israel-Gaza war, saying the statement wasn’t approved by the caucus.

In a post and accompanying statement on the social-media site X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday afternoon, Hamilton Centre MPP Sarah Jama said in response to the intensifying violence in the Middle East: “I’m reflecting on my role as a politician who is participating in this settler colonial system, and I ask that all politicians do the same.”

Many on the left have conveniently displayed their true colours and refuse to walk back their sordid murder cult ideology. Thanks for the help guys.

Solid NDP win cements Kinew as 1st First Nations premier in Manitoba history

The NDP sailed to victory Tuesday night with a solid win that cements leader Wab Kinew as Manitoba’s first First Nations premier and also nets the party enough seats to form a majority government.

“This is a great victory for all of us in Manitoba,” Kinew said to thunderous applause at NDP campaign headquarters Tuesday night, after leading his party to a win in Fort Rouge.

Matthew Lau: The NDP is always wrong: That’s almost impressive

Pierre Poilievre spent last weekend at the Conservative convention offering Canadians hope for a better and more affordable country after Justin Trudeau’s time as prime minister ends. Meanwhile, Trudeau’s Liberals are taking a well-deserved public opinion thrashing — the inevitable backlash against their failed policies and unwavering insistence that the miserable outcomes they have produced are in fact splendid results. The Liberal caucus is said to be frustrated, discouraged, angry and disillusioned.

‘Appearance of bias’ undermines special rapporteur’s mission, Singh says

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says that despite special rapporteur David Johnston’s personal credibility, the appearance of bias in favour of the Liberal government is undermining the very work that he’s trying to accomplish.

“I believe he’s a person that is very credible and has worked for the country in a way that is really honourable,” Singh said in an interview on Rosemary Barton Live Sunday.

“The problem we’re up against, though, is the work he’s supposed to do is restore confidence in our electoral system, and the appearance of bias is so strong now that he can no longer do that work. The trust necessary is eroded because of the appearance of bias,” Singh told CBC chief political correspondent Rosemary Barton.

Singh says NDP won’t trigger election over Johnston, interference. Why?

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is defending his party’s decision not to make its motion calling for David Johnston to step down as special rapporteur binding and says an election does not “make sense” if the goal is protecting Canada’s democracy.

Singh told The West Block’s Mercedes Stephenson in an interview that aired Sunday that he wants to get a better understanding of the full extent of allegations of foreign interference.

Mr. Singh, axe your alliance with the Liberals

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says his party will “use all our tools” to push for an independent public inquiry into China’s election meddling. He should reach for the one closest at hand: scrapping his parliamentary alliance with the Liberals, as a clear warning to the government that it cannot continue to ignore the will of Parliament.

Not gonna happen. He’s on the take like Justin.

Rachel Notley has sought to distance herself from Jagmeet Singh. Here’s why

OTTAWA — It was perhaps inevitable that, moments into Thursday’s Alberta leaders’ debate, federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh would be dragged into the fast-paced sparring match.

For one thing, it’s a common trope in the United Conservative Party when attacking the Alberta NDP to suggest that Singh pulls leader Rachel Notley’s strings.

For another, Notley hasn’t been shy about distancing herself from the NDP’s leader in Ottawa, particularly on his stances on climate and energy policy.

Somehow I’m just not buying this.

Ontario NDP goes full Orwell after anti-semitic MPP they were warned about does something anti-semitic

Ontario NDP distances itself from newly elected MPP’s Twitter repost about Palestinian hunger striker

Jason Wager, a spokesman for the NDP, said Wednesday that neither the party nor Ms. Jama endorse the tweet.

“Last night, the MPP for Hamilton Centre retweeted a tweet by an American academic Noura Erakat concerning the death of Khader Adnan and later un-retweeted it. The content of the tweet does not reflect the views of Ms. Jama or the Ontario NDP,” he said.

Orwellian or what?

John Robson: Jagmeet Singh the fool on the hill

Is Jagmeet Singh a fool? It may not be our most important public policy question today, which would be something like “Is Canada’s Prime Minister a Chinese Communist pawn?” or “Is liberalism the ideology of Western suicide?” But it keeps coming up, most recently when the NDP voted with the Liberals to shut down a Parliamentary committee inquiry into CCP donations to the Trudeau Foundation. And it matters whether public events are driven primarily by cunning or folly.

Singh is a grifter nothing more.

Liberal-NDP coalition excludes the Anti-Woke Left

It has been just over one year since the Liberal-NDP coalition formed a confidence-and-supply agreement. CBC News says this agreement could be “a model for the future.”

But it’s clear this coalition has not been good for Canadians who don’t buy into a woke political agenda, including the “anti-woke left.”

Adam Zivo: Ontario NDP’s push to ban protest around drag events an affront to free expression

Ontario’s NDP has proposed a bill that would allow the province to ban anti-LGBTQ protests from taking place within the vicinity of certain queer events. While violent protests and bigotry are unacceptable, the bill is poorly thought-out and unacceptably infringes upon Canadians’ civil liberties.

Cross-dressers, Islamists and anti-semites that is one big tent, but still room for NAMBLA I bet …

Singh ‘not satisfied’ with confidence-and-supply agreement, says he’d do a better job as PM

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says he’s “not satisfied” with his party’s confidence-and-supply agreement with the Liberals — signed a year ago this week — because it’s shown him he could do a better job running the country than the current government.

“And so it’s led me to not be satisfied with the position I’m in,” he said. “I want to be the prime minister, but I’m proud of the work we’ve done.”
