Uber Woke Ceeb Asks: So who’s ‘woke,’ what does it mean and how is it being used in Canadian politics?

The word “woke” — originally used to describe awareness of discrimination — has been adopted by figures on the political right to discredit policies and politicians they consider too progressive, experts say.

The word was directed earlier this week at the Liberals and NDP by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre. And some Liberals have been dancing around the term when asked about it by journalists.

“It’s a term that’s been evolving fast,” said Jennifer Saul, a professor who specializes in the philosophy of political language at the University of Waterloo.

Harvard Tells Students: ‘Using Wrong Pronouns’ Constitutes ‘Abuse’

Welcome to Harvard!

“Fatphobia” and “cisheterosexism” perpetuate “violence.” “Using the wrong pronouns” constitutes “abuse.” And “any words used to lower a person’s self-worth” are “Verbal Abuse.” Those are just a handful of the things the school told all undergraduate students in a mandatory Title IX training session, according to materials reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon.

Peter Thiel: wokeness is like Wahhabism

The billionaire warned that California is starting to seem like Saudi Arabia

The third annual National Conservatism conference kicked off Sunday in Miami, Florida, bringing together a who’s who of figures associated with the so-called “New Right.” Topics of discussion included how to combat the rise of China, how to fight back against gender ideology, and, courtesy of the Heritage Foundation’s David Azerrad, how to resist the “blackpill” of living in a country in which “the elite is corrupt and so are the people”.

Librarians go radical as new woke policies take over: experts

Marian the Librarian, the prim, bespectacled love interest of con artist Harold Hill in the classic musical, “The Music Man,” wouldn’t recognize her profession today.

Libraries, for decades the ultimate safe spaces, have become ground zero in the ongoing culture wars, with battles over banned books, drag queen story hours and free access to porn raging all over the country — from Louisiana to Idaho to Washington State as well as cities like New York and LA.

A top scientific journal places political correctness above the search for truth

Nature Human Behavior, one of the most prestigious journals for social science research, recently published an editorial titled “Science must respect the dignity and rights of all humans.” Though short, the article generated tremendous pushback among academics and intellectuals concerned about the spread of social-justice ideology into science. Harvard psychologist Steven Pinker said the journal was “no longer a peer-reviewed scientific journal but an enforcer of a political creed,” while Greg Lukianoff, the CEO of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, described the journal’s statement as “an epistemic catastrophe.” What did the editorial say?

Higher Ed’s New Woke Loyalty Oaths

A ballooning number of hiring and tenure decisions require candidates to express written fealty to political doctrines

In 2021, the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) School of Medicine—ranked fourth in the country for primary care—released a 24-page “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism Strategic Action Plan,” listing dozens of “tactics” for advancing “diversity and racial equity” over the ensuing half-decade. One of those tactics reads: “Include a section in promotion packages where faculty members report on the ways they are contributing to improving DEI, anti-racism and social justice.” The plan promises to “reinforce the importance of these efforts by establishing clear consequences and influences on promotion packages.”

The World Wants No Part of Woke, But It’s Glad We Do

The United States obsesses over whether biological men can compete in women’s sports as transgender females.

Crime is spiking at levels not seen in 40 years. But some consider it racist to suggest that arrests, indictments, convictions, and incarcerations deter crime.

Major U.S. downtowns almost overnight went from mostly safe and clean to terrifying and toxic — and we brag that we are at least “tolerant” of the medieval conditions.

My father the hero pilot – and why today’s RAF would shun him

TO USE the modern parlance, I felt somewhat ‘triggered’ by the recent TCW article entitled ‘No whites please – we’re the RAF’. It led to my writing this brief tale.

On November 20 1919, Edward Morton Hunter was born in a tenement in Rutherglen Road in Glasgow’s Gorbals district to a catering worker mother and a foundry-worker father. The father, also Edward Hunter, had served 12 years in the Royal Navy, principally aboard the destroyer Scorpion and the cruiser Berwick and had seen active service in the Dardanelles during the Great War. Leaving the Navy that year the ex-Chief Petty Officer Hunter sought what work he could find in industrial Glasgow south of the Clyde. Tragically he died aged 30 when Edward was just a few months old.

Kansas teacher suspended for refusing to use student’s preferred name, pronouns gets $95K in lawsuit

A former Kansas middle school teacher who was suspended for refusing to use the preferred name and pronouns of a student has been awarded $95,000 in a lawsuit settlement, her attorneys announced this week.

Pamela Ricard, a teacher who previously taught math at Fort Riley Middle School, was formally reprimanded and suspended for three days in April 2021 for addressing a student by their “legal and enrolled last name” rather than their preferred first name.

UK: Woke police have completely lost the plot

It’s not just about stopping the virtue signalling. It’s about cracking down on shocking gang violence

As the appalling spate of gun murders in Liverpool has tragically shown, there is a sub-culture of violent crime in too many communities in towns and cities across the UK.

Such horrific criminality is nothing new, but the growing role of “street gangs” – willing to resort to shocking levels of violence – is. Run by adults, they use children as young as 10 to do much of their dirty work. Often drawn from dysfunctional homes, they are induced or coerced into the gangs, where they run drugs and weapons for the leadership.

U.S. Forces Ordered to Stop Using Gender Pronouns to Improve ‘Lethality’

A division of the U.S. Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), the branch tasked with confronting China, has ordered its senior leaders and commanders to stop using gender pronouns in written formats, saying the shift to more neutral language will help improve the fighting force’s “lethality.”

“In accordance with the Diverse PACAF priority, ‘We must embrace, promote and unleash the potential of diversity and inclusion,” states a May email sent to senior leaders and commanders at the Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, which operates under the Pacific Air Forces, according to a partial copy of the order obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

Female troops saw the highest level of unwanted sexual contact since DOD began collecting data

WASHINGTON – A new Pentagon survey shows women in the military endured the highest level of unwanted sexual contact since the Defense Department began tracking the data sixteen years ago, a startling finding that shows sexual crimes rising steadily despite hundreds of millions spent to curb the problem and vows by senior leaders to tackle itt.

The Pentagon estimates that sexual assaults among women service members surged an estimated 35% from 2018 to 2021. The survey shows that 8.4% of women and 1.5% of men in the active-duty military said they had been the victim of a sex crime, ranging from from groping to rape, according to results of the survey obtained by USA TODAY. In 2018, an estimated 6.2% of women in the armed services were victims of unwanted sexual contact.

No Whites Allowed: Pfizer Fellowship Flagrantly Violates the Law, Lawyers Say

The pharmaceutical giant Pfizer offers a prestigious fellowship that bars whites and Asians from applying. Trumpeted on the company’s website as a “Bold Move” to “create a workplace for all,” civil rights lawyers are characterizing it in a different way: as a blatant violation of the law.

“This Pfizer program is so flagrantly illegal I seriously wonder how it passed internal review by its general counsel,” said Adam Mortara, one of the country’s top civil rights attorneys.
