The rapid spiral of political collapse, military capitulation, insecurity, terrorist attacks, international exodus and chaos in Afghanistan have been staggering. Unsurprisingly, it comes up daily on the election trail, as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his ministers fend off criticism about Canada’s response, particularly regarding the many Canadians and those with close Canadian connections still trapped in the country.

The Taliban getting the weaponry was earning Joe Biden a lot of criticism — that more of it wasn’t destroyed or prevented from falling into the enemy hands.
So it’s more than a little troubling to read that the Biden administration told federal agencies to scrub their websites of the official reports about the $82.9 billion in weaponry the U.S. has provided to the Afghan army since 2001 (which is now largely in Taliban hands).

Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban, requested the United States formally recognize the terrorist organization as the government of Afghanistan on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after the last American serviceman departed the country.

An Afghan interpreter who helped in the 2008 rescue of then-Sen. Joe Biden and two other senators from a valley in Afghanistan was among the thousands left behind as the commander-in-chief pulled US troops out of the embattled nation, leaving it in the hands of the Taliban.

The Taliban are carrying out “house-to-house executions,” according to reports, as newly released audio provides a glimpse into the extremist militants’ rule over Afghanistan since the US withdrawal.

Monday on FNC’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” host Tucker Carlson pointed out the contradiction from the pro-gun control Biden administration, which in its withdrawal from Afghanistan left behind nearly $90 billion in military equipment and by doing so, armed the Taliban.

When the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan in 1996, the organization was recognized by just three nations: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
In 2021, Canadian media recommends our country join them.

The dialogue would be happening multilaterally with “many” countries and in the coming days, said Garneau. According to him, the main “priority demand” in the negotiations would be to allow the safe passage of Afghans out of the country.

A newly released video tweeted from the Talib Times included the caption, “Our Air Force! At this time, the Islamic Emirate’s air force helicopters are flying over Kandahar city and patrolling the city.” The Twitter account @TalibTimes claims to be the “official news” account for the Islamic Emirate Afghanistan.

The United States, along with 97 other countries, announced Sunday that they had reached an agreement with the Taliban to allow them to continue to get Afghan allies out of the country after the Aug. 31 withdrawal deadline.
Why it matters: “We are all committed to ensuring that our citizens, nationals and residents, employees, Afghans who have worked with us and those who are at risk can continue to travel freely to destinations outside Afghanistan,” the joint statement said.

Conservative leader Erin O’Toole released a video statement Thursday evening about the increasingly dire situation unfolding in Afghanistan and outlined what he would do to help its people; some of whom are desperately trying to make it to Canada.

The Taliban has set up a special unit to hunt down Afghans who worked for the U.S. and Western allies, the New York Post reported on Friday. The operation is being led by the members of the Al Qaeda-linked Haqqani Network, a Taliban faction with a history of killing and kidnapping American service members and civilians in the region.

The Taliban has said it will ban music in public in Afghanistan because it is forbidden in Islam, despite the assurances given by the insurgent group that it will be more tolerant than it was two decades ago.
