In the weeks since Tucker Carlson’s firing in late April, Fox News’s prime time numbers have dropped significantly. While the audience flight is undeniable, the question of where those viewers went remains an open one.
Newsmax, Fox’s rightward competitor, has seen a boost since Carlson’s abrupt firing, especially at 8 p.m. – Carlson’s old time slot. Yet Newsmax’s increase doesn’t come close to accounting for the million viewers Fox has shed in prime time since firing Carlson.
FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—Fox News employees are allowed to use bathrooms that align with their gender identity, rather than their biological sex, and permitted to dress in alignment with their preferred gender. They must also be addressed by their preferred name and pronouns in the workplace.
The fact that Canada’s broadcast regulator is holding public consultations on whether to ban Fox News, after receiving a complaint from an LGBTQ rights advocacy organization, is highly unusual, given that only one channel has been removed in recent years from the list of approved foreign broadcasters on Canadian cable television.
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) removed Russia Today (RT) from Canadian cable packages in early 2022 shortly after the government issued an order-in-council asking the regulator to do so following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
It’s becoming abundantly clear that with Tucker Carlson being put out to digital pasture, Fox News is falling on hard times and may come to regret its decision. Its viewership and market share are plummeting while Tucker will find “fresh woods and pastures new” in which to pursue his career of incisive reporting and unabashed truth-telling. Tucker Carlson has become a first name, which indicates that he is not simply an internet commentator but something of an institution. To believe that he is no longer a force is merely wishful thinking.

NEW YORK (AP) — Fox News said Monday it has “agreed to part ways” with Tucker Carlson, its popular and controversial host, less than a week after settling a lawsuit over the network’s 2020 election reporting.
The network said in a press release that the last program of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” aired Friday.
“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” the press release from the network said.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Fox and Dominion Voting Systems reached a $787 million settlement Tuesday in the voting machine company’s defamation lawsuit, averting a trial in a case that exposed how the top-rated network chased viewers by promoting lies about the 2020 presidential election.
“The truth matters. Lies have consequences,” Dominion lawyer Justin Nelson said in a news conference outside the courthouse after a judge announced the deal.

Fox News and other members of the corporate press praised Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony to the January 6 Committee just hours before Secret Service agents reportedly announced their intent to contradict Hutchinson’s testimony under oath.
Hutchinson was a White House aide during the final days of the Trump administration.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson has used the rhetoric of Democrats against them as he spoke about the Stephen Colbert staff invasion of the Capitol last week.
He began his show Monday with the same type of rhetoric used against the January 6 protesters against the Colbert staff who were arrested for being in the Capitol sans permission.
