What right does the government have to judge Rebel News?

I am awaiting the tempest of outrage and rebuttal from every newspaper, television and radio station, the Canadian Association of Journalists, Journalists for Free Expression, every journalism school and journalism professor about this gross assault on the free press.

I am waiting for them to take a concerted stand in support of their journalistic colleagues at Rebel News, under the long understood principle that an attack on any member of the press is an attack on all. In particular, I await the unanimous support of the Ottawa press gallery, the most prestigious guardian of press independence.

Rebel News is suing Justin Trudeau

Justin Trudeau’s hand-picked government censorship panel has just declared that Rebel News journalists are not “qualified” to be news media. We just learned, that over the past year, Trudeau has spent countless tax dollars on a hand-picked team of government censors who were “studying” Rebel News in secret — they never reached out to us or spoke with us or interviewed us.

Who is the populist mob: lockdown skeptics, or the forced vaccine people?

Being populist to me means listening to people who actually work for a living, not just those who have the luxury lifestyle of being paid to give opinions, which really isn’t work. One of the things that bothers me about elitists is their refusal to use plain language. And I don’t believe it’s because they’re smarter; smart people believe in communicating effectively and clearly. The over-use of jargon, the invention of fake words and using complicated words where simple ones will do, isn’t about improving communication, it’s about making it harder, to keep out outsiders. Use jargon; use acronyms; denounce other people’s language as obsolete or even racist. That’s a form of elitism.

Rebel News wins court challenge after debates commission bars writers

A Federal Court judge ordered the Leaders’ Debates Commission to permit writers from Rebel News Network to fully cover this week’s two official televised leaders’ debates.

The ruling means reporters from Rebel News Network will be accredited to attend Wednesday’s French-language and Thursday’s English-language contest between the major party leaders.

FIGHT VACCINE PASSPORTS: A new civil liberties project

Vaccine passports are coming to Canada. In fact, they’re already here in Manitoba, and very soon they’ll be in place in Quebec, too. The government of British Columbia, meanwhile, announced it would be rolling out a vaccine passport soon enough — one that doesn’t even allow for medical or religious exemptions.

“Check your aversion to Rebel Media”: Feds circulate our report on masks

Liberal party staffers circulated a story published by Rebel News last year, asking Minister of Health Patty Hajdu and staff to “check” their “aversion” and review our interview concerning a Chinese manufacturer trying to send medical supplies to Canada.

From there, a Hajdu staffer forwarded the email chain to a staffer working for Minister of Procurement Anita Anand.

Keean Bexte subpoenaed (and it’s a good thing)

I have been subpoenaed by the police.

It’s not what you think — this is actually a good thing. It has been a long time coming, but justice is about to be served on the Langley Predator, Jonathan Yaniv. You may recall when the violent criminal assaulted me outside of the Surrey courthouse, when I was doing my job covering his trial.

The violent assault was captured by my camera, and by a courthouse camera. The case sat in the hands of the RCMP for months, but once it was handed to Crown prosecutors in Surrey, the ball really got rolling.

Doug Ford sent his Justice Department after Rebel News

You’ve likely heard of Rebel News’ crowdfunded campaign called Fight The Fines. We provide a lawyer for individuals who receive a charge under abusive, unconstitutional lockdown rules. We send a journalist to tell the story of how the person was fined, we hire a lawyer and then we crowdfund to cover the fees.

It’s a project that’s been ongoing for nearly a year now, beginning all the way back in April, 2020.

All of a sudden, however, the Government of Ontario has taken issue with one aspect of our campaign. It’s something you’ll see if you visit our special portal at FightTheFines.com — go ahead, visit the site and see for yourself if you can guess what Premier Doug Ford’s justice department has taken umbrage with.

EXCLUSIVE: CBC demands Ezra Levant change story on $34 million COVID bailout

Exclusive internal CBC communications obtained by Rebel News show the internal reaction after several online media outlets — none of which receive bailout money from Justin Trudeau — published a series of articles on a Liberal tabling of spending which included nearly $34 million in extra funding for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Toronto Mayor John Tory caught spying on Rebel News

Remember that delightful encounter we had with those “peaceful” protesters that occurred back in June?

In case you don’t recall, here’s an abbreviated backstory: Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square had been taken over by a collective of ne’er-do-wells known as Afro Indigenous Rising. And I do mean taken over. Think of this group as a poor man’s version of Antifa and/or Black Lives Matter.

Federal Conservatives rule out working with right-wing Rebel News

The federal Conservatives decided to no longer engage with Rebel News, hours after an e-mailed interview exchange between Leader Erin O’Toole’s staff and the far-right outlet was published.

Mr. O’Toole’s office participated in an interview with Rebel News on Mr. O’Toole’s behalf. After it was published on Monday, Mr. O’Toole’s office said it would no longer respond to the controversial group and the Leader would not do interviews with them either.
