Toronto’s rent crisis: Minimum wage would have to hit $40 an hour for workers to be able to afford to live here, report finds

Ontario’s minimum wage would have to rise to $40 an hour for Toronto workers to comfortably afford a two-bedroom apartment and still have money for food and utilities, according to a report from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.

Nearly all Canadians putting in a 40-hour week at minimum wage are allocating more than 30 per cent of their monthly pre-tax income toward rent or mortgage costs — the marker of unaffordable housing — Tuesday’s report found.

Trudeau to make tax payers fork out $97 million Dollars to help clean up his refugee mess in Toronto

Ottawa offers millions more in housing support to shelter refugees in Toronto

The federal government is injecting additional funding to help Toronto shelter a surge of newly arrived asylum seekers.

After weeks of bickering between Ottawa and city officials over who should foot the bill, Ottawa announced Tuesday an extra $97 million in new funding to help house refugees, many of whom have been camping outside Toronto’s homeless service centre on Peter Street.

According to the city, refugees currently make up a third of Toronto’s 9,000 shelter spaces.

Prediction – 2 mos. from today – Homeless refugees declared a tourist attraction by Chow regime.

Group calls for head of Toronto’s shelter system to resign amid refugee crisis

More than 20 community advocates are calling for the head of Toronto’s shelter system to step down amid a worsening crisis involving refugees camped out on a downtown sidewalk with nowhere to go.

In an open letter released Monday, the group accused Gord Tanner, the general manager of Shelter Support and Housing Administration (SSHA), of “repeated mismanagement of the shelter system.”

“Community Advocates” – Something tells me we’re going to see a lot of these in Chowtown, all of them with their hands out.

Toronto’s Plan to Decriminalize Hard Drugs an ‘Absolute Disaster,’ Says Ontario Premier

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has vowed to fight Toronto’s plan to decriminalize hard drugs, calling it an “absolute disaster” for the city.

“Craziest thing I’ve ever heard,” Mr. Ford said. “Go out to Vancouver, go out to San Francisco.”

“I will do everything I can to fight this,” stated the premier. “Again, this goes up to the federal government. They cannot be following up with [this] request,” the premier said on July 14 while appearing on 640 Toronto, a radio show with Alex Pierson.

Sabrina Maddeaux: Liberals ‘resettling’ asylum seekers by dumping them on the pavement

Just a few weeks ago, on World Refugee Day, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau trumpeted his government’s commitment to refugees. In a statement , he said, “Everyone deserves a safe place to call home … And Canada is stepping up: In 2022, for the fourth year in a row, we were the top country in the world to resettle refugees.”

He concluded it with, “Today, we come together as Canadians to keep our country a welcoming place and help build a safer world for everyone.”

Chow and Trudeau seem made for each other.

Chairman Chow inherits a city in dire financial straits

Toronto is forecasting a budget deficit of roughly $915-million this year, which it plans to address by almost depleting its pandemic reserve fund if other levels of government don’t step in.

The city council’s executive committee is expected to discuss a series of budget-related reports Tuesday, the day before Olivia Chow takes office as Toronto’s new mayor. Ms. Chow, who won last month’s by-election to replace John Tory, will be inheriting a dire financial situation, mostly stemming from reduced transit revenues due to lower ridership and higher shelter costs for people experiencing homelessness during the pandemic.

It’s not going to get better.

Olivia Chow promises action as Toronto sees rash of violent incidents

Toronto’s is now Chowtown

Mayor-elect Olivia Chow says she “can’t imagine” the grief and shock being felt by some members of the community following a spate of violent incidents in Toronto, including one that recently left a mother of two dead, and that stopping the violence will be one of her top priorities as mayor.

“My condolences to the family and loved ones of Karolina Huebner-Makurat,” Chow said to reporters following an anti-Islamophobia event Monday morning. “I can’t imagine the grief and the shock that’s going through the rest of the community.”

Communist China’s 5th Columnists claim credit for helping Chairman Chow win Toronto mayoralty … Spokeslackey plays race card

As Olivia Chow campaigned successfully to become Toronto’s new mayor, she received some unsolicited help from controversial sources.

Two prominent community groups aligned with the Chinese government — including one that allegedly hosted a Chinese police station in Ontario — “went all out” to support Chow’s push to be mayor, supplying numerous volunteers to the effort, a letter from one of the groups claims.

This should invalidate the election.

Anyone notice something odd here?

I see very little “outrage” over this unfortunate woman’s murder.

I guess that’s the new normal in Chowtown.

Completely avoidable “crisis” results in Chowtown being overrun by Trudeau “refugees”

‘A huge shame’: Asylum seekers sleeping on the streets of Toronto as city, feds argue over who should foot the bill

Advocates say it’s “a huge shame” that asylum seekers are being stranded on the streets of Toronto as the city and federal government argue over who should foot the bill to shelter them, and are calling on all levels of government to do more to address the issue.

In recent days, a few dozen people have been seen sleeping in an encampment on the sidewalk outside a referral centre for housing assistance and emergency shelter in downtown Toronto.

We all know who foots the bill – tax payers.

Chow and Trudeau are as careless of lives as they are of your money.
