Terrorism watchdog to open inquiry into radicalisation in prison

An inquiry into the way prisons deal with convicted terrorists is being launched by the independent terror watchdog amid concerns of growing radicalisation behind bars.

Jonathan Hall QC said there had been a succession of terror attacks on prison officers while other inmates were coming under the influence of “high status” terrorist prisoners.

Hall, the government’s independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, said that if terrorist activity was taking place in jails then it had to be dealt with.

One of Fusilier Lee Rigby’s killers is seriously ill in hospital with Covid-19, the BBC has learned.

Michael Adebowale is serving a 45-year jail sentence for murdering Fusilier Rigby in Woolwich, south-east London, in May 2013.

Adebowale was removed from Broadmoor last week following a deterioration in his condition after he contracted Covid-19.

The failed Libyan asylum seeker, who had photos of an ISIS flag, Jihadi John and the Twin Towers on his phone, launched the attacks in Forbury Gardens as the victims were enjoying a summer evening on June 20 last year after the first lockdown restrictions in England were relaxed.

UK: Boy, 10, ‘beaten for errors in reciting Koran’ in Birmingham school

Two Islamic teachers are to stand trial accused of cruelty to three children, including a ten-year-old boy who was allegedly beaten for making mistakes as he recited the Koran.

West Midlands police said that Mohammed Waqar, 23, and Mohammed Siddique, 60, face charges of assault against three children. Both men teach at the Jamia mosque in Sparkbrook, Birmingham. They were arrested in June last year, three days after the allegations were reported, and the incidents were said to have taken place between May and June last year.

Man viewed extreme Isis content before Reading knife attack, court hears

A man who stabbed three people to death in a minute in an alleged terrorist rampage had viewed material about a notorious Isis executioner, a court has heard.

Khairi Saadallah murdered three men in a park in Reading on 20 June as they enjoyed a summer’s evening.

A hearing at the Old Bailey to determine if the attacks were terrorist acts and therefore subject to a higher sentence, was told that Saadallah viewed extremist material in the days before the attack and had a longstanding interest in extremism.

UK Finally Acknowledges the Obvious

The first step in any effective rehabilitation program is acknowledging you have a problem. The United Kingdom has finally come to the realization that its deradicalization program for terrorists is an utter failure.

Jonathan Hall, Britain’s independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, made this admission, “…there is no evidence that deradicalisation programmes work,” publicly in a recent interview with the London Times.

Lockerbie bombing: Alleged bomb-maker charged on 32nd anniversary of attack

The US has announced charges against a Libyan suspected of making the bomb that blew up Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988.

Abu Agila Mohammad Masud has been charged with terrorism-related crimes, Attorney General William Barr said on Monday, 32 years on from the atrocity.

The deadly bomb attack on the Boeing 747 killed 270 people, including 190 American citizens.

Prosecutors will seek the extradition of Mr Masud to stand trial in the US.
