Behind the Homeless Surge in California’s High Desert

LOS ANGELES—In the scrubby Mojave desert north of Los Angeles, a sprawling encampment of decrepit RVs sits just off a dirt road separating the city of Lancaster from Los Angeles County’s unincorporated expanse.

In every direction, garbage spreads out like an algae super bloom—beyond that, endless sand and brush, baking in the summer sun.

“Keep your head on a swivel for dogs,” a member of the city’s public safety and emergency response unit tells us. Through the haze, we see two pit bulls and a German Shepherd under a tarp, but they are tethered, too hot to move.

Pro-Hamas Rioters In D.C. Vindicate J.D. Vance’s View Of America

When pro-Hamas rioters on Wednesday ripped down and burned the American flag outside Union Station in Washington, D.C., and defaced nearby monuments with antisemitic, Islamic terrorist graffiti, they unintentionally made a case for what Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance said at the RNC last week: that America isn’t just an idea, but a place and a people with a shared history and a common future.

Border Patrol agents in the Swanton Sector of the U.S.-Canada border have apprehended more than 15,000 migrants so far this fiscal year, more than the previous 13 years combined, according to U.S. Border Patrol reports.

Trudeau is a threat to both Canada and the US.

The Biden Administration Empowering Deadly Houthi Terror Group

Under the Biden Administration, the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, who have effectively taken over the country, have significantly escalated their activities, culminating in a dramatic increase in their aggressive activities. They recently carried out an attack on Tel Aviv, Israel, resulting in one fatality and at least ten people injured. The assault marks the Houthis’ first deadly strike into Israeli territory, reflecting a troubling widening of their actions.

Trump comeback could see familiar faces re-emerge — and they may spell trouble for Canada

Canadians are watching the U.S. election campaign with more than their usual mix of trepidation and fascination, as it careens from a near-miss assassination attempt on one candidate to an unprecedented step-aside from the other.

Two-thirds of Canadians say a second Donald Trump term would be either ‘”bad news” or “terrible news” for Canada, according to a poll of 1,435 adults conducted by the Angus Reid Institute.

(The online poll was conducted over the four days following the shooting in Butler, Pa., and has a margin of error of +/- 2.5 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.)

US combat vehicles keep the Russians at bay — but for how long?

America has sent more than 300 M2A2 Bradleys to Ukraine but many have been wrecked in the war. Soldiers fear Donald Trump, if re-elected, would leave them without replacements

The enemy were already closing in on the Ukrainian infantry positions when Sergeant Dzvinka Rymar rolled up to them in her American M2 Bradley fighting vehicle. Her driver pulled it round in a tight arc to reverse up to the Ukrainian trench, its gun facing the Russians.

The Bradley’s rear doors swung open, enabling eight Ukrainian soldiers to clamber to safety, as its Bushmaster 25mm chain gun sent round after round into the treeline opposite, held by Russian troops.

Kamala Harris championed sanctuary city policies — and these migrant crimes could come back to haunt her

Vice President Kamala Harris championed sanctuary cities when she served as district attorney in San Francisco, with her office saying at the time that “we are a sanctuary city, a city of refuge, and we always will be.”

Now as the Democrats’ leading presidential nominee candidate, Republicans are pointing back to her liberal policies that were soft on illegal migrants.

Harris was elected as San Francisco’s DA in 2004, running on a campaign vowing to never impose the death penalty and supporting the city’s decades-old sanctuary city policy while in office.

Obamas endorse Kamala Harris in pursuit of 4th term as president

Barack Obama has endorsed Vice-President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic presidential nominee, ending days of speculation over whether he would support her.

Former President Obama and ex-First Lady Michelle Obama said in a joint statement that they believe Ms Harris has the “vision, the character, and the strength that this critical moment demands”.

Mr Obama was reportedly among more than 100 prominent Democrats Ms Harris spoke to after President Joe Biden announced last Sunday he was dropping out of the race.

The D.C. Jihad Shocked Even Dems

But they still won’t touch their own armies of terrorists. Or even call them out by name.

The gameplan for the Netanyahu speech was simple. Most Democrats would attend and sit through it. A whole bunch, including Pelosi and Kamala, would officially or unofficially boycott it, and then issue press releases blasting Netanyahu. And then move the party on with the Obama-era business of getting closer to Islamic terrorists, saving Hamas, and turning on Israel.

Expert Warns of Potential Riots, Chaos at Democrat Convention

Vietnam War-era protests are among the most well-known and well-documented movements in U.S. history, notoriously culminating in the violent clashes during the 1968 Democratic National Convention (DNC). As Election Day nears in the U.S., striking parallels are emerging – protests against U.S. involvement in foreign conflicts, a deteriorating financial situation, and rising tensions on all fronts. It’s hard not to wonder if history is repeating itself.

Unless Kamala denounces Israel, and that is entirely possible, Chicago will be fiery but peaceful if yesterday’s antics are an indication.

U.S. Senators sound alarm over Canada’s acceptance of Gaza refugees

Canada’s acceptance of Palestinian refugees from Gaza is setting off alarm bells south of the border.

In a letter Wednesday to U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, United States Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) expressed concern over the program, which he warned could lead to an increased risk of allowing individuals with ties to terror groups easy access to the United States.

The Regime No Longer Gets the Benefit of the Doubt

Has the U.S. federal government ever had less legitimacy than it has right now?

Kimberly Cheatle was forced out as the Secret Service director after perhaps the worst performance by an agency head in the history of Congressional testimony. Cheatle couldn’t answer basic and crucial questions like how many shell casings were found on the roof of the American Glass Research building where would-be Donald Trump assassin Thomas Crooks set up shop 10 days ago, and by the time she was done even the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee were calling for her ouster.

Jamie Sarkonak: Canada needs the wake-up slap Trump is preparing to deliver

Between Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump, the former is often thought to be the better pick for Canada. If that’s the case, that’s a problem of our own making.

Harris is the likely Democratic candidate for November’s United States election now that President Joe Biden has announced on his X account that he will not be running for another term. He endorsed Harris, his vice-president, instead; her candidacy isn’t set in stone, but she’s the likely contender.

John Ivison: There’ll be no DEI gimmes for Kamala Harris in a face-off with Trump

When Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s fictional Veep, Selina Meyer, ran for the U.S. presidency, the TV comedy’s writers settled on the most meaningless election slogan they could think of: “Continuity with Change.”

As yet more evidence that America’s politics are stranger than satire, continuity with change is the essence of Kamala Harris’s bid to become the 47th president of the United States.

From a Canadian perspective, the more traditional approach to trade and security that Harris represents would be welcomed in Ottawa.
