Just when you think the Biden administration couldn’t possibly get worse, it finds a way. Gabriel Noronha, a former State Department official, tweeted Wednesday that State, NSC, and European Union officials are warning that “what’s happening in Vienna,” where Biden’s handlers are negotiating a new nuclear deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran, “is a total disaster,” and that they’re hoping that “Congress will act to stop the capitulation.”
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has reinstated the death sentence for convicted Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
The justices, by a 6-3 vote Friday, agreed with the Biden administration’s arguments that a federal appeals court was wrong to throw out the sentence of death a jury imposed on Tsarnaev for his role in the bombing that killed three people near the finish line of the marathon in 2013.
Just as Omicron fades, a new variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 has now been detected in every U.S. state, according to a new report. The variant, which didn’t get its own Greek letter name and is known simply as Omicron BA.2, is more contagious than its brother, but vaccines are effective against it.
A 57-year-old man named Edward Wright is being investigated for possible commission of a hate crime and has been charged with simple assault and bias intimidation after he walked into a mosque in Paterson, N.J. to complain about the adhan, the Islamic call to prayer, being broadcast over loudspeakers. If Wright is guilty, he should receive the due penalty for his crimes. At the same time, any controversy over the broadcast of the adhan in American cities is being dismissed as “bigotry” and “hate,” while reality, as is always the case with Leftist propaganda, is more complicated.
We can only hope that the madness in Ukraine doesn’t escalate to the extent that the U.S. military ends up getting involved. It’s clear that Gen. Mark Milley and the rest of the brass have learned absolutely no lessons from Afghanistan and are determined to repeat the same mistakes that led up to the catastrophically mishandled withdrawal from Kabul. If the Army were called upon to move into Ukraine, which would be an indication that the situation there had gotten wildly out of control, it isn’t at all clear that today’s woke force would pose a significant threat even to the manifestly weak and sluggish Russian forces. An American army presence in Ukraine would likely herald World War III, and we hope it won’t come to that, but if it does, look out.
The Biden administration’s weakness and incompetence were on full display in a New York Times article last week recounting the White House’s repeated—and failed— attempts to urge China to help avert war in Ukraine. The purpose of the article was to allow senior administration officials to take their duplicitous Chinese counterparts to task, but the account reveals above all that White House officials are out of their depth in dealing with China.
Tamara Lich, a 47-year-old mother from Alberta, was arrested and charged recently for “counseling to commit mischief” after raising more than $10 million through a GoFundMe campaign in support of the Canadian Freedom Convoy protesters.
Canada never realized its trucker protests would catalyze the way they did — into rocket fuel for MAGA warriors in America’s cultural fight.
The diesel fumes, horn blasts and bouncy castles may have disappeared from downtown Ottawa, but Canadians are only beginning to come to terms with the lingering effect of the “Freedom Convoy.”
These things take time, and I am not saying that the culminating moment of de-dollarization happens tomorrow or next week. But make certain it IS happening and there may be no better opportunity than now for Russia to take the sanctions the West has placed upon them and run with it. If they do, the long-term decoupling of the Russian and Asian worlds from the dollar as this plays out over 10-20-50 years reestablishes the global order.
… Putin was reluctant to make his moves while Trump was in office. He respected Trump. He feared Trump.
As he was all-Russian, so Trump was all-American. A terrible clash was inevitable; which Putin preferred to avoid. He considered Trump’s grit. He knew he’d lose.
Then came the election that seated Biden in the White House and for Putin, this was an answer to godless prayer.
That American voters would choose as their leader a man so lacking, was just the stroke of luck he needed.
Remember when your parents made you visit a cranky old person you never wanted to meet.
By tying itself to a reckless and dangerous America, the Ukrainians made a blunder that client states will study for years to come
Russian President Vladimir Putin chose this war, Joe Biden said in his Thursday afternoon speech to America regarding the conflict in Ukraine. That is true, but U.S. elites also had something to do with Putin’s ugly and destructive choice—a role that Democrats and Republicans are eager to paper over with noble-sounding rhetoric about the bravery of Ukraine’s badly outgunned military. Yes, the Ukrainian soldiers standing up to Putin are very brave, but it was Americans that put them in harm’s way by using their country as a weapon, first against Russia and then against each other, with little consideration for the Ukrainian people who are now paying the price for America’s folly.
“You know, that is a huge concern because the woke leadership we have at the Pentagon and around even in our military,” he said. “It’s all about being politically correct, and General [Mike] Milley sent a pretty poor message when he was concerned about so many social engineering moves rather than what it really takes to fight and win a war. The military should not be some social experiment. It should be a killing, lethal force. What we’ve done is we’ve allowed everything that woke touches messes up. It doesn’t matter what it is. Certainly, the military — there’s no place for that.”
Something caught my ear in the car, listening to a radio simulcast of the February 21 PBS NewsHour. Anchor Judy Woodruff drily reported that “Canadian police have arrested more than 190 protesters and issued 389 charges in connection with the so-called Freedom Convoy.”
The “so-called Freedom Convoy.” It’s a journalistic term that can be employed as distancing themselves from something that’s not true. After 9/11, we heard about the “so-called War on Terror.” Democrats hated that term. Dan Rather used to get out the ten-foot pole and report on “the Republican political lobbying group that calls itself, quote, the ‘Christian Coalition.’” This could be described as “so-called journalism.”
WTOP reports that there are between 20–25 vehicles that left Scranton, Pa. on Tuesday and are currently in bumper-to-bumper traffic outside of Washington. But the threat of arrest has caused some truckers to back away, and it’s unknown how many trucks will actually make it into the city.
