‘Deadly’ misogyny is apparently surging in the classroom
Exhale, everyone. The results from the NASUWT teachers’ union poll are finally in.
And as the weekend’s headlines all suggest, they paint a very grim picture indeed. Deadly misogyny is “surging” in the classroom, leaving female teachers feeling “scared or intimidated just for showing up to work.” And the reason for all this, of course, is “the influence of the ‘incel’ subculture on teenage boys.”

Burger King has apologized, and it wasn’t for its burgers. That’s the news. An advertising campaign in Spain during Easter caused a flood of complaints calling for a boycott for offending Catholics. On the billboard, the words of the consecration, the most sacred words in the missal, could be read in thick letters: “Take and eat. This is not meat.” And smaller: “100% vegetarian. 100% flavor. Big King Vegetable.” In another ad from the same campaign, there was the biblical reference: “Flesh of my flesh,” with the word “flesh” crossed out and replaced by “vegetable.” This blasphemous campaign launched just as Spain fills up with religious tourism to celebrate Holy Week. What a brilliant idea, Burger King!

IMF report warns that haywire climate plans could trigger energy price crack-up
Tuesday’s 180-page World Economic Outlook from the International Monetary Fund is a gloomy portrait of a global economy heading into slower growth due to the war in Ukraine, pandemic lockdowns, monetary risks, fiscal extravaganzas and other products of interventionist policy-making. It makes for unsettling reading. No less grim is the second IMF report of the day, a 100-page Global Financial Stability Report, which warned that inflation, private debt, sovereign debt and other risks have risen in the wake of Vladimir Putin’s war.

There has finally been a new development in the case of the Finders Keepers lawsuit against the FBI, who they suspect of stealing as much as six to nine tons of buried gold bullion that the treasure hunting duo claims to have located in rural western Pennsylvania.

An influential national archbishop of the Anglican Church of Canada resigned from office and all church duties after being accused of sexual misconduct.
The departure of Mark MacDonald, national Indigenous archbishop with oversight of pastoral care for Indigenous Canadian church members since 2007, came suddenly on Wednesday, while the church’s handling of additional — apparently unrelated — allegations of sexual misconduct was already under fire.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Could an after school Satan Club be coming to an elementary school near you?
On Tuesday evening, the Northern York County School Board members voted down the approval of the program.
The program, designed for children as young as 5, says it doesn’t worship Satan, but what exactly does it teach?

Canadian officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, joined allies in staging a walkout of a G20 meeting in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday in protest of Russia’s involvement.
At Wednesday’s G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting, Freeland said she and “a number of our democratic partners” got up and left the meeting when Russia sought to intervene.

The feds have enlisted multiple states to assist an investigation of reports of sickness caused by Lucky Charms — and meanwhile customers are complaining that the sugary breakfast cereal’s manufacturer, General Mills, has had a lame response.
The Food and Drug Administration has tapped at least four states — New York, Michigan, Kansas and Arkansas — whose health departments are now are contacting and interviewing consumers who have reported bouts of vomiting and diarrhea after eating Lucky Charms, according to customers and state officials.
It’s likely a banal reason will be found explaining these Unlucky Charms but we have been fortunate to date that neither the water supply or food chain has been successfully tampered with.
We never got cereal like this when I was a kid. We got Cornflakes, Shredded wheat, porridge and occasionally those huge bags of wheat puffs.

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is investigating a teacher who has been placed on home assignment after he sent a hostile email to students claiming that those without masks are “maybe even killing me” and that any unmasked students will need to sit outside in the hallway or face “detentions and other consequences.”

If the government is wielding covert influence, it is not sharing that information with its MPs or senior bureaucrats, who complain privately about a tentative, opaque and ponderous policy
Ukraine is set to convene with its closest allies to discuss future security guarantees in the event of a diplomatic settlement in the war with Russia, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
But Canada will not be at the table — much to the chagrin of some senior diplomats who want to see a more energetic response from Ottawa.

A Quebec judge has ordered a father to stop taking his 10-year-old son to anti-mandate protests after he brought him to the “Freedom Convoy” in Ottawa during one weekend in February.
The court also intervened in another parental dispute involving the same child — in that case, his vaccination status was at issue — and ruled that the boy can get the COVID-19 vaccine as requested by his mother, against his father’s wishes.
… “The remarks made by the participants are hardly laudatory against the government and… there is a serious risk that it can degenerate quickly,” wrote Superior Court Justice Nathalie Pelletier in her judgment.
