Far-right groups hope trucker protest will be Canada’s ‘January 6th’

Far-right groups hope trucker protest will be Canada’s ‘January 6th’

Canadian far-right and white nationalist groups see the so-called “Freedom Convoy” as an opportunity, with some hoping the protests will be Canada’s version of last year’s Jan. 6 riot in Washington.

Hundreds of truckers and their supporters are making their way from B.C. to Ottawa for a planned protest outside Parliament on Saturday.

The inevitable hit piece.  Smells like Katie Telford.

Update- Organizer of anti-vaccine mandate convoy says it won’t tolerate extremists or violence

A key player behind a convoy travelling to Ottawa to protest a vaccine mandate for truckers is warning that those planning to use the event for acts of violence or vandalism won’t be tolerated.

Addressing her Facebook followers in a video posted on the Freedom Convoy 2022 Facebook page, Tamara Lich said the convoy is expected to arrive at Parliament Hill in Ottawa over the weekend to protest what she calls infringements of personal liberty caused by public health orders.

“If you see participants along the way that are misbehaving, acting aggressively in any way or inciting any type of violence or hatred, please take down the truck number and their licence plate number so that we can forward that to the police,” she said.

“They can have Rogan or Young. Not both,” wrote the star in a letter to his management and record label.

Rogan has been criticised for airing vaccine-sceptical views, and promoting debunked claims about treating Covid-19 with the anti-parasite drug ivermectin.

Why some German church windows depict Hitler

Weil der Stadt is a town of about 20,000 people in southwestern Germany, west of Stuttgart. At the Catholic church of St. Peter and Paul, pastor Anton Gruber has been welcoming his congregation as well as many curious visitors for the past 11 years.

Some people stop by the church because it is right on a popular bike path, while others have come to peer at one particular stained-glass window. They often say “the features of Hitler are recognizable,” Gruber told DW. “Most people are simply curious, no more and no less,” the clergyman says about the pane that dates from 1939/40.

Christ and cocaine: Rio’s gangs of God blend faith and violence

Cocaine for sale – Rio Favela

In the city’s favelas, a new generation of ‘narco-pentecostals’ are embracing Christian symbols

“Pastor, do you think we could hold a service at my house next Thursday?” the peroxide-haired gangster wondered, cradling an AK-47 in his lap as he took a seat beside the man of God.

A few months earlier, the 23-year-old had bought his first home with the fruits of his illegal work as a footsoldier for one of Rio de Janeiro’s drug factions. Now, he wanted to give thanks for the blessings he believed he had received from above.

“I’ve dodged death so many times. It was He who delivered me from evil,” the drug trafficker reflected as he began another 12-hour night shift on the frontline of the Brazilian city’s drug conflict.

The word ‘maternity’ is facing a ban at Britain’s ‘wokest’ university

Britain’s ‘wokest’ university is facing claims that its staff objected to the use of the word ‘maternity’ and allowed men identifying as women to use its campus swimming pool.

The allegations against Bristol University emerged as PhD student Raquel Rosario-Sanchez prepared for an imminent sex discrimination and negligence case against the institution.

She claims its bosses failed to tackle transgender activists who subjected her to a two-year hate campaign for attending feminist meetings that opposed allowing men who identify as women into female-only spaces such as toilets and domestic violence refuges.
