A youth chapter of SPD proposes that ‘male’ podcasts only be allowed to continue if a female fact-checker is involved.

The Kiel branch of the Young Socialists (Jusos) is demanding a ban on men’s podcasts, Apollo News reports. Jusos is arguing that the format spreads ‘toxic masculinity’ stereotypes and conspiracy theories, and pose a threat to democratic values. Their motion, set to be debated at the SPD youth organization’s state delegate conference at the end of September, is titled: “Ban men’s podcasts! – Take the microphones away from men!”

Ottawa admits nearly half a billion blown on dental plan overhead

Taxpayers have been billed almost $500 million just to run the Trudeau government’s Canada Dental Care Plan, with most of the money going to administration instead of patients.

Cabinet admitted in a Commons filing that as of March 31, 2025, the program’s overhead costs totaled $472.9 million, including payments to third-party administrators.

Flying cars crash into each other at Chinese air show

Two flying cars crashed into each other at a rehearsal for an air show in China which was meant to be a showcase for the technology.

The Xpeng AeroHT vehicles collided in mid-air, with one catching fire during landing, the company said in a statement to Reuters.

The company said people at the scene were safe, but CNN reported one person was injured in the crash, citing an anonymous company employee.

The rehearsals on Tuesday were for the Changchun Air Show, set to start later this week in north-east China.

Chinese drivers. Sheesh.

Spanish police have arrested 19 people accused of killing and torturing up to 50 fellow passengers aboard a migrant vessel, allegedly throwing overboard victims accused of witchcraft.

The wooden vessel from Senegal was rescued adrift south of Gran Canaria on August 24 with 248 survivors aboard, Spanish police said. Authorities believe the boat originally carried about 300 people and many of the missing are presumed to have been cast into the Atlantic during the 11-day voyage.

Diversity Crime: Authorities feared man arrested in smuggling scheme that led to deaths at border would flee

Authorities allege a man recently arrested in Ontario in connection with a human smuggling scheme dropped a family of four off near the Manitoba-U.S. border and told them to walk through blizzard conditions when their van got stuck in a remote, snow-covered area on the January 2022 night they froze to death.

Fenil Patel, who was living in Brampton, Ont., was arrested on Sept. 5 following an extradition request from the United States. The charges he’s expected to face there include conspiracy to bring aliens to the U.S. resulting in death, court documents obtained by CBC News say.

Man, 23, charged after alleged threats to Ottawa school over teacher’s hateful Charlie Kirk posts

A 23-year-old man faces threatening communications charges after police executed a search warrant in Orléans in relation to threats against St. Mark Catholic High School in Manotick.

Ottawa police say the search warrant was executed at about 8:28 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 300 block of River Ridge Crescent, where a suspect was arrested without incident.
