Fighting violent online network preying on kids requires all of us

The RCMP announced on Thursday the terrorism-related arrest of a 15-year old Alberta boy. He is being charged under Section 810.011 of the Criminal Code — Fear of terrorism offence.

This section of the Criminal Code states that “A person who fears on reasonable grounds that another person may commit a terrorism offence may, with the attorney general’s consent, lay an information before a provincial court judge.” This suggests that the RCMP had reason to believe the boy might carry out an act of terrorism.

Chinese Communist-approved cardinal took part in papal election. Why is no one talking about this?

The conclave that elected the first American pope had another first that few have heard about: a voting cardinal named Stephen Chow who was approved for his current position by the Chinese Communist Party, pursuant to a 2018 pact between the Party and the Vatican. He is, by Chinese law, obliged to “support the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party” as part of the CCP’s United Front Work Department. That’s its entity charged with conducting global propaganda and influence operations.

Hairy asylum seeker with deep voice is a child, tribunal rules

A hairy Sudanese asylum seeker with a deep voice is a child, an immigration tribunal has ruled.

The court said that having physical attributes such as hairy legs and arms was not a “useful indicator” of age, dismissing assessments by the Home Office and a council that the asylum seeker was in his mid-20s. It backed his claim that he was 16 years old.

The Home Office had claimed his physical appearance “very strongly suggested” that he was “significantly over 18” and stated that he was likely to be around 24.

Paris Is Still Beautiful — From Behind Bulletproof Glass

Yes, the French capital has culture. It also has stabbings, riots, and a rising body count.

Culture is more than galleries and symphonies. It’s not just what hangs on a wall or flickers on a stage — it’s what pulses through the streets. How people live. How they treat each other. What they tolerate, and what they won’t. Culture is everything from high art to street-level ethics. From cathedrals to crime scenes.

That’s why the word itself is so slippery. You can interpret it a hundred ways. A canvas. A riot. A prayer. A protest. Paris is a masterclass in that ambiguity.
