His whereabouts have been unknown since Israel’s Saturday strike in Beirut that killed Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah’s presumed successor, Hashem Safieddine.

CSIS Had to Make Public Safety Minister ‘Comfortable’ With Wiretap of Ontario Politician: Deputy Minister

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) had to make then-Public Safety Minister Bill Blair feel “comfortable” with a request for surveillance powers on an Ontario politician, a former top Public Safety official told the Foreign Interference Commission.

The commission has been probing why it took Blair 54 days to approve the 2021 warrant application against a subject whose identity was not revealed during proceedings.

Mother forced to remove Hallowe’en ‘body bag’ display by council after complaints

A mother has been instructed to remove “body bags” hanging from a tree after neighbours said the Hallowe’en display was “triggering”.

Caroline Ashley was surprised when a Liverpool City council worker allegedly attended her home on Sept 24 and demanded the removal of decorations in front of her house.

The 41-year-old said the council visit followed a “really upset” neighbour confronting her at home over the “triggering” display.

Pierre Poilievre slammed by opponents over suggesting Israel should strike Iranian nuclear facilities

OTTAWA — Federal Liberals and New Democrats blasted Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre Wednesday, saying his statement that Israel should proactively strike Iran’s nuclear facilities is disastrous foreign policy that would contravene international law and quash hope for peace in the Middle East.

Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly told reporters Wednesday that Poilievre’s proposed pre-emptive strikes would trigger a broader war, and suggested he does not want harmony in the Mideast.

Joly and Joe Biden are opposed to Poilievre’s position! That settles it.

A Kelowna man with a criminal record spanning two provinces and two decades pleaded guilty on Monday to a new set of offences.

Saeed Abbas – Sad Muslim

Saeed Abbas, 44, admitted to a four part crime spree, including break ins, the theft of two Dodge trucks, a couple SUVs and even a possession of weapons charge. The criminal acts took place between September 2022 and January 2023, the latter date being when he started his incarceration.

… In making her case, Miller told the court that Abbas has a criminal record that started in 1999 when he was a youth offender in Calgary and since then, has amassed 25 convictions for offences including arson, theft, fraud, robbery, and vehicle thefts. He also has 22 breach charges.

… Miller also pointed out that the pre-sentence report that highlighted the trauma, racism, and poverty Abbas suffered since his parents came to Canada as refugees from Palestine is important to weigh into the equation.

Three years after a devastating wildfire nearly wiped out the picturesque B.C. hamlet of Lytton, residents say it may never be reborn because of costly, government-mandated archeological excavations.

Village Mayor Denise O’Connor — whose own house was destroyed in the June 2021 wildfire — said homeowners are getting individual quotes for archeological work that range from $26,000 to $48,000 to much higher, making the work prohibitive.
