Six people were arrested after protests broke out at the Nebraska State Capitol building when lawmakers passed a bill that banned abortions after 12 weeks.

Those opposing the controversial ‘Let Them Grow Act’ interrupted the debate on Friday to shout and throw what appeared to be bloody tampons onto the floor.

Authorities confirmed that a state trooper was assaulted during the incident after a woman punched him in the chest when he prevented her from pushing past him.

Indigenous advocate says pause of Canada Day fireworks in Calgary was requested last year

The City of Calgary’s decision to refrain from holding a large fireworks display this Canada Day — in part because of cultural sensitivities — is two years too late, according to one Indigenous advocate.

On Thursday the city said it would forgo the usual July 1 fireworks display and instead have an enhanced pyrotechnic show on the main stage at Fort Calgary during the evening’s final act.

Hyundai and Kia have agreed to settle a consumer class-action lawsuit worth $200m over rampant thefts of the vehicles because of a TikTok trend.

In February, the Korean automakers said they would offer software upgrades to 8.3m US vehicles to help curb a stark increase in thefts using a method popularized on TikTok and other social media channels.

The TikTok trend started spreading in 2021, challenging users to steal 2010 to 2021 model year Kia and Hyundai cars using a USB cable. Cities across the US saw thefts of the vehicles spike. By fall 2022, Los Angeles officials said there was an 85% increase in thefts of Kia and Hyundai vehicles compared to the previous year.

Dancers at Los Angeles club become US’s only unionized strippers

After months of late-night picketing in North Hollywood, the dancers of the Star Garden Topless Dive Bar have become the only unionized strippers in the US.

Their victory was finalized with a unanimous vote by 17 dancers in favor of unionization on Thursday morning , and marks the first time that the Actors Equity association, a century-old union for stage actors, singers and dancers, will represent strip club workers, the union said.
