Did federal workers cost Poilievre his job? Top union boss says it’s more about Trump

A major union leader says Pierre Poilievre’s claim that he lost his seat because of his pledge to cut the public service is “simplistic” and should also be attributed to voters linking the Conservative leader to U.S. President Donald Trump.

“I think what people saw was too many similarities. People see the platform that was presented. They see past decision-making and they link it to what’s happening down south in an extreme manner,” said Sharon DeSousa, national president of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), the largest federal public sector union.

New Details in Air India Crash Probe Shift Focus to Senior Pilot

New details in the probe of last month’s Air India crash are shifting the focus to the senior pilot in the cockpit.

A black-box recording of dialogue between the flight’s two pilots indicates it was the captain who turned off switches that controlled fuel flowing to the plane’s two engines, according to people familiar with U.S. officials’ early assessment of evidence uncovered in the crash investigation.

The Grooming Gang at CBC is upset that some guy can’t be on a girl’s baseball team

Girls’ softball was an inclusive sport in Alberta. For this teen, a new law could end that

Riley Simpson has been playing softball since they were nine years old. They fell in love with the sport after watching their older sister play.

In June, their softball team won the Edmonton city championship and Riley was hoping to play on higher-level teams as they grew and got better.

In Alberta, where Riley is from, most competitive softball teams are girls’ teams. This has never been a problem for Riley, who recently turned 15 years old and is non-binary, thanks to inclusive sporting policies, a co-ed mentality in softball and pre-puberty androgyny.

CBC is a pedophile grooming gang.

Ex-pilot called himself messiah on climate-change mission, day before alleged hijack

A 39-year-old man with the same name has now been charged with hijacking, constituting terrorism, over the incident on Tuesday that saw Norad scramble F-15 fighter jets before the light plane safely landed.

Anthony De Luca-Baratta: Canada cannot afford to pivot away from the U.S.

Many commentators hailed the Canada-European Union defence pact, which was signed by Prime Minister Mark Carney in late June, as Canada’s pivot away from the United States. That same month, however, Carney pledged to increase defence spending to five per cent of GDP by 2035, acceding to U.S. President Donald Trump’s demand, and he continues to pursue a comprehensive trade and security agreement with Washington. Despite what his critics may say, the prime minister is living in reality.

Counterterror officers deemed David Amess killer a ‘great person’

The killer of the Conservative MP Sir David Amess was described as a “great person” by counter-terrorism officials amid a series of failures exposed in an official review of the Prevent programme.

A report has warned that the government’s flagship counterextremism scheme needs to “up its game” after its failure to prevent Amess’s murder and the Southport attack.

Lord Anderson, the independent Prevent commissioner, concluded in his report that the “jury is still out” on whether changes introduced after the two attacks will improve the way the scheme works.

Dozens of independent candidates have already registered in the rural Alberta riding of Battle River—Crowfoot byelection, where Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre hopes to win back a seat in the House of Commons.

The list stems from a co-ordinated effort by electoral reform advocacy group the “Longest Ballot Committee,” which is aiming to break records during this byelection by registering hundreds of candidates.

While the vast majority of candidates in the riding are running as independents, hopefuls from the United, Libertarian, Christian Heritage and Conservative parties have also put their names forward.
