I’ve grown tired of hearing the term progressive used to describe people and policies that embody anything but progress. The word suggests a movement toward liberty, reason and human dignity. But what now passes for “progressive” ideology is a regressive assault on foundational principles: race-based social engineering, denial of biological truth, hostility toward the rule of law and an obsession with censorship disguised as compassion.

The socialist Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the mayoral primary has prompted some of the wealthiest New Yorkers to seriously consider leaving the city
The morning after Zohran Mamdani’s surprise victory in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary, Tom O’Donoghue’s phone was ringing off the hook.
O’Donoghue, who runs a luxury construction firm in the Hamptons — the summer playground for rich New Yorkers — said his clients were in “complete disbelief” that a socialist was suddenly the favourite to win November’s general election.
“One of my clients has 150 commercial buildings in the city and he just told me that he had contacted his attorney this morning. They’re getting out of New York,” he said.

Mere weeks after announcing that Canada would finally meet its decade-old commitment to spend the equivalent of two per cent of GDP on defence, Prime Minister Mark Carney and his NATO colleagues pulled another arbitrary number out of a hat and agreed to increase spending to five per cent by 2035.
Yet lazily focusing on the top-line spending number will only serve to distract us from the real goal: crafting a coherent strategy to ensure we have an Armed Forces capable of defending Canadian soil and assisting our allies abroad.
More transvestites is always the answer.

In 2013, Sir David Attenborough, the renowned nature expert and one of the greatest filmmakers ever, famously declared humanity a pestilence.
“We are a plague on the Earth,” he postulated. “It’s coming home to roost over the next 50 years or so.” His recommendation was that the world needed a smaller population. “It’s not just climate change; it’s sheer space, places to grow food for this enormous horde [of people].”

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is probably the best political friend the city of Toronto has ever had. But no matter how many billions of provincial tax dollars Ford spends to help his hometown, some Torontonians remain ungrateful.
Rather than settle for looking a gift horse in the mouth, they rush to the other end of the horse and pronounce themselves very unhappy with what they see. The latest example is the final design for a dramatically revamped Ontario Place, announced by Ford this week.
Nothing will ever again be “good” for long in the 3rd World Dumpster called Toronto.
Throwing money at Ontario Place won’t hurt but it won’t help.

Once again, the liberal ladies of The View have proven that they were more interested in pushing anti-Trump hysteria than engaging in honest political discourse. On Thursday’s show, the ABC daytime panel went beyond their usual whining and delved headfirst into conspiracy theory territory, suggesting that President Trump’s statements about the success of the U.S. military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, and calling out CNN for false reporting, was evidence that he wants to impose state-run media, like China and Russia.
Yes, seriously.

A year after her mother was sentenced to prison for defrauding Inuit organizations to help pay for her education, an Ontario woman went public for the first time about the case — and Jordan Archer’s story has again stirred up anger and frustration among Inuit.
Archer, formerly Nadya Gill, spoke to the Toronto Star earlier this month about her mother Karima Manji’s admission of guilt and conviction in a Nunavut courtroom last year, and how the case derailed Archer’s own life and career.
Archer’s story has aroused little sympathy in Nunavut, however, where many Inuit feel she and her twin sister Amira Gill still owe them an apology. The two sisters had originally been charged along with their mother, but the charges against the twins were ultimately dropped in early 2024 when Manji pleaded guilty and took “full responsibility for the matters at hand.”
That Star piece is disgusting, that lying monster is no victim.

In a 6-3 decision on Mahmoud v. Taylor, the Supreme Court ruled that parents can opt their young children out of sexuality and gender instruction in school based on their religious beliefs. The court’s three liberal judges dissented. This is a major win for religious freedom.

It’s open season on speed cameras, as a number of the devices across the city have been vandalized or otherwise put out of commission in the past 24 hours.
The Toronto police have confirmed that five automated speed enforcement (ASE) cameras were vandalized, cut down or put out of commission sometime between June 24—25.
On Wednesday at 4:05 a.m., the ASE at Sheppard Avenue East and Don Mills Road was cut down. On Tuesday, at 4:58 a.m., the ASE outside Cloverdale Mall at The East Mall and Faludin Court was also cut down at its base, Toronto police said.
This isn’t about safety its about cash.
I wish the city would do something about the motorcyclists who rev their engines at Six Points into the wee small hours but there’ no money in that.

A Syrian national identified only as Mohamed A has been charged by German authorities with supporting a foreign terror group over a foiled plot to attack a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna last August.

Mahdi Nasiri let the world know he was on his way to Canada in April.
The former high-profile Iranian official posted a series of farewell photos — including a goodbye hug — on Instagram for his more than 250,000 followers and anyone else to see.
He has been in Canada ever since.
The fruits of multiculturalism: We have traitors in high places.
U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday he’s terminating all trade discussions with Canada effective immediately.
“We will let Canada know the Tariff that they will be paying to do business with the United States of America within the next seven day period,” Trump said in a social media post.
HOLY CRAP! Trump just CUT OFF Canada from ANY trade negotiations!
Have fun in a recession!

OTTAWA — Leaders of the world’s superpowers were elbows-down on some pretty pricey hardware in Alberta earlier this month.
Proactive disclosures filed after June’s G7 summit in Kananaskis show the round table world leaders huddled around last weekend cost taxpayers $258,300.
Is there a table shortage, tariffs jacking up the cost? No party rental outlet nearby?

Counter-terror police investigating an incident at RAF Brize Norton have arrested four people.
A woman, 29, of no fixed abode and two men, aged 36 and 24 from London, were arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism, contrary to Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
Another woman, 41, of no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Palestine Action was just declared a terror group but I doubt the Brits will come down too hard on those arrested.
