Why we’ll probably learn nothing from the Southport murders

Keir Starmer has pledged to act in light of the revelations about Southport killer Axel Rudakubana. The 17-year-old murdered three young girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class last year, and it has since emerged that Rudakubana – who pleaded guilty to owning an online version of an al-Qaeda training manual – had been flagged for his radicalism on three occasions between 2019 and 2021. As the Prime Minister explained: ‘On each of these occasions, a judgment was made that he did not meet the threshold for intervention, a judgment that was clearly wrong and which failed those families.’

Kelly McParland: Mark Carney’s unlikely shot at wooing disillusioned voters

He certainly has the resume. Germany’s Cultural Elite’s Perverted “Debate” on Israel

On November 22, 2024, at the National Gallery of Berlin, the American photographer and political activist Nan Goldin asked, “Why can’t I speak, Germany?” With apparently no sense of irony, she spoke at a lectern in front of a large audience, with numerous phones pointing at her, at the opening of her retrospective, titled “This will not end well.” The subject of her talk was not her artistic portfolio but rather her political agenda on Israel.

An enthusiastic audience applauded her outrage and indignation over the “genocide” in Gaza and Lebanon, and her immoral equivalence between the Palestinian population after the October 7 atrocities with pogroms against Jews under the Russian Empire. Goldin’s false claim that “antizionism has nothing to do with antisemitism” was followed by loud chants of appreciation and applause.

One-third of Canadians turn to the internet for health information due lack of access to a doctor

More than one-third of Canadians have turned to the internet for medical advice because they couldn’t access a doctor or other health professional, according to a new survey whose respondents also reported encountering a rising tide of health misinformation in their everyday lives.

“This is a double whammy that no other generation has had to experience,” said Joss Reimer, president of the Canadian Medical Association. “We’re seeing both a crisis of access to care along with this crisis of misinformation, and together, those create real life-and-death situations when people don’t have access to accurate health information.”

America fell out of love with Harry and Meghan long ago

The Sussexes’ lack of self-awareness is at the root of their long list of failures. But how did the couple get it so wrong?

“The thing you’re escaping is the reason you’re compelling.” The killer line comes a third of the way through Vanity Fair’s 8,000-word Meghan and Harry annihilation. It’s the only line that matters, when all is said and done – and five years on, we must be nearing that moment.

The quote is attributed only to a “former Spotify employee”. Someone who was, presumably, working at the streaming platform when the couple first moved to LA in 2020 to enjoy the anonymity they would have basked in, had there been time in between all the frenzied deal-making, the celebrity shmoozing and the self-promotion.

‘Our Long National Nightmare’: Comedy Shows Freak Out At Trump’s Return

When the late night comedy shows took to the air on Monday to lament Donald Trump’s return to the presidency, three main themes emerged. The first was that Trump is going to be a national nightmare. The second was that they have gone all in on embracing former President Joe Biden’s “oligarchy” warnings. Finally, it was deemed ironic that Inauguration Day happened to fall on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. To recap their collective wailing and gnashing of teeth, here is an NQ-style recap of CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Comedy Central’s The Daily Show.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s top staffer has sent a note to ministers’ chiefs of staff about the need for a “strong mandate” from the public in the face of Donald Trump’s tariff threats – another indication the government is preparing for an early election.

Mr. Ford’s chief of staff Patrick Sackville said the Premier will need to stand up to Mr. Trump, the federal government and other provinces in the face of “existential threats” to the economy, according to an email obtained by the Globe and Mail.

Hulk Hogan: The Only Person Biden Didn‘t Pardon Was Hunter‘s Little Baby with the Stripper

Monday on Fox News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime,” former WWE professional wrestler and ardent Trump supporter Hulk Hogan quipped about the release of a handful of pardons from former President Joe Biden nearing the conclusion of his presidency.

Biden had granted clemency to family members involved in the Biden family business, including brothers James and Frank Biden, just moments before President Donald Trump was sworn in.

Trump trade war can be won by sacrificing sacred cows in dairy farming and agriculture

He’ll be back.

Like Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator character, there’s a relentless determination to U.S. President Donald Trump. His inauguration day decision to hold off on potentially devastating 25-per-cent tariffs on Canadian imports came as a pleasant surprise, at least for a few hours. The loonie’s value popped on the news. So did energy, pipeline and railway stocks – sectors that had already priced in a profit-killing trade war.

Trump revokes security clearances of 51 intel officials who signed discredited Hunter Biden laptop letter

President Donald Trump pulled the security clearances of more than 50 national security officials who said Hunter Biden’s laptop had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”

A total of 51 former national security officials released a public letter in 2020 claiming that even though the laptop did not have “any evidence of Russian involvement,” it looked like a “Russian information operation.”

The letter came after the New York Post reported they had emails showing Hunter Biden coordinated for Joe Biden to meet with a top executive at Ukrainian energy company Burisma months before pressuring Ukrainian officials to oust a prosecutor investigating the company.

After all that, it will be the Liberals themselves who will actually ‘axe the tax’

Federal environment minister Steven Guilbeault posted a video over the weekend in which he was skating on the Rideau Canal.

“One of the reasons we are fighting climate change,” he says, “is to protect iconic places” like the Ottawa landmark.

It’s a perfectly reasonable point: the skate season on the canal has been shrinking in recent years amid warming Ottawa winters. Two years ago it didn’t open for skating at all.

Only at the Star and CBC will you find blind enthusiasm for Trudeau’s climate scam policy.

US exit from WHO could see fifth of budget disappear

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to begin the process of withdrawing the US from the World Health Organization (WHO).

“Oooh, that’s a big one,” the newly inaugurated US president said as he approved the document after arriving back at the White House. It was one of dozens of executive actions he put his signature to on day one in office.

This marks the second time Trump has ordered the US be pulled out of the WHO.
