Team Canada mates no more: How tariff threat put Ford and Smith on divergent tracks

As Albertans will testify after experiencing the Tory dynasty and the last couple of UCP premiers, conservatives are not all built the same.

Jason Kenney took Alberta in directions past Progressive Conservative leaders never dared to, while Danielle Smith rose to leadership by repudiating Kenney’s COVID management — and he did his share of rebuking her Sovereignty Act idea.

CNN Found Liable for Defamation of Navy Vet Zachary Young

Panama City, FL – On Friday, a jury of six in Florida’s 14th Circuit Court in Bay County has found CNN liable for the defamation of Navy veteran Zachary Young and that he was entitled economic and emotional damages, a ruling that proved CNN was not worthy of their moniker “the most trusted name in news.” They also found that CNN’s reporters had demonstrated expressed malice, actual malice, and outrageous behavior, which opened the door for a massive punitive damages judgement.

Canada offers $3,000 grants to Gazan refugees

The Liberal government will provide tax-free grants of $3,000 per adult and $1,500 per child to Gazan refugees arriving in Canada, the Department of Immigration announced Thursday.

The financial assistance mirrors earlier grants offered to Ukrainian refugees, part of a $753.4 million aid package as of last August.

“Settlement support and this financial assistance are critical to address the immediate challenges that come with moving to a new country under such circumstances,” said Immigration Minister Marc Miller.

‘It’s Crazy’: Federalist CEO Torches FBI Cover-Up Of First Trump Assassination Attempt

Federalist CEO Sean Davis blasted the FBI for stonewalling Congress’s investigation into the first assassination attempt against President-elect Donald Trump.

The moment came during a Friday interview, in which Davis was asked by conservative commentator Tucker Carlson what information is publicly available about Thomas Crooks, the would-be assassin who tried to kill Trump at a July rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The 20-year-old was killed by law enforcement shortly after the attempt on the incoming president’s life and information about his activities leading up to the shooting has remained scarce.

Class in a classless society

RFK, Jr. has an enlightening story about needing to get to Palm Beach in a hurry but not being able to find a flight. His mother, Ethel Kennedy, suggested he ask Donald Trump if he could bum a ride on his plane, but RFK protested that, since he was suing Trump at the time, that would be an unlikely solution. But Trump said yes, they flew to Florida together, and RFK had a pleasant, enjoyable trip on Trump’s plane.

After complimenting Trump on his gracious hospitality despite his being sued by Kennedy, Trump replied that if he shunned everyone who was suing him, he’d have no one to talk to.

The Imam on Trump’s Inauguration Program

“The time may be soon to go back home,” Imam Husham Al-Husainy told CBS News. The year was 2003 and Al-Husainy, along with the other Iraqi Shiite ‘refugees’ filling Dearborn’s Muslim community, had gotten their fondest wish when the United States removed Saddam Hussein.

Imam Husham Al-Husainy never did “go back home” to his native Iraq. Instead, alongside urging his congregants to vote in Iraq’s elections, spent the next 20 years interfering in ours, exploiting faked hate crimes to call for Sharia law, and moving back and forth between parties.

The moral cowardice of the ‘compassionate’ class

In recent weeks, we’ve seen what happens when those with an instinct for self-preservation are left in charge. We’ve subsequently read the reaction of certain selfish types possessed with a similar instinct. I am referring to the revelations of the mass rapes that went largely unpunished across England over the past decades, and the equivocal responses to the scandal today.

Trump Ready to Bypass Congress on Border and Tariffs

WASHINGTON—Days before his inauguration, President-elect Donald Trump made clear in a two-hour private meeting with Senate Republicans that he wouldn’t wait on them to start implementing his biggest policy priorities: overhauling the immigration system and dramatically reshaping the country’s relationship with its economic allies and adversaries.

With the experience of governing and a better knowledge of the levers of power, Trump has drafted expansive plans for tariffs and border restrictions, the centerpieces of his 2024 campaign. He has already prepared roughly 100 executive orders, Trump told lawmakers in the meeting, and said he would press the limits of his presidential authority at times to go it alone on those issues, according to people who attended.

Trump’s emphasis on immigration and trade reforms—the North Stars of his “America First” worldview—catapulted him to the presidency in 2016 and drove his historic return to the White House in the latest election. It sustained his fervent base of supporters over the past four years after he was defeated by President Biden in 2020 and admonished by many in his party over his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Emerald Haze: How a Health Canada-Licensed Cannabis Firm Linked Politicians, Lawyers, and Convicted Narcos to US Fraud Prosecutions

In October 2020, British Columbia police raided three agricultural properties, targeting Health Canada–regulated marijuana grow operations in Richmond—a once blue-collar farming community that, since the 1990s, has rapidly transformed into a hotbed of transnational narcotics trafficking and money laundering linked to China, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Thousands of U.S. and Canadian records reviewed by The Bureau reveal that Delta Police’s “Big Smoke” raids barely scratched the surface of a corporate structure unfurling from a façade of Hells Angels paraphernalia and Health Canada weed licenses. The investigation suggests an unsettling reality: in modern-day Canada, the boundary between legitimate commerce and organized crime is perilously hazy—especially when political and legal elites, alongside a national regulator, appear complicit.

Everything got worse under Trudeau.

‘Help, I’m black!’

A mom who was arrested at a car wash following an altercation over $10 worth of wipes screamed out, ‘help me, I’m black’ as cops slapped handcuffs on her.

Erica LeMieux, 46, was accused of stealing the items from the Clean Express Auto Wash in Elyria last year, with bodycam footage of the incident emerging this week.

Staff called the police after the mom allegedly became aggressive and cursed at an employee.

What I learnt on the front line of America’s civil war games

I’m trapped in the damp, dark stairwell of a nuclear power plant with the forces of the old US government when I begin to suspect that I’ve chosen the wrong side in America’s civil war.

A few hours earlier, I joined US Special Operations forces from the East Coast as they launched an assault to reclaim the building from renegade plant workers who had formed a militia to divert energy to their local community.

Now the two sides have teamed up against a shadowy group of foreign mercenaries, but it’s an uneasy coalition, and soon the guns are drawn on us.

Poll shows 43% of young Canadians would take American citizenship

A recent poll shows a staggering 43% of Canadians aged 18 to 34 would vote to be American if they were guaranteed citizenship and had their assets converted to US dollars.

Across all age groups, 30% of Canadians would consider voting to join the US with the same caveats.

I have to ask – Which Canadians? Trudeau’s migrants? Whoever I can’t blame them.

Trump redux: Why the returning president is likely to become one of history’s most consequential figures

In a few days we’ll experience an abrupt shift, a sharp inflection point, in human civilization’s trajectory. In the past such shifts – caused by events like wars, pandemics, economic depressions and technological breakthroughs – have almost always caught us unawares. What makes this coming shift exceptional is that we all know exactly when it will happen and exactly what will trigger it.

Following his inauguration at noon Eastern Standard Time on Jan. 20, the new President of the United States, Donald Trump, will review military troops from the Capitol’s East Front steps, lead the inaugural parade to the White House, and watch the proceedings from the presidential reviewing stand. He’ll then sign up to a hundred executive orders.
