Opposition, disinfo experts push government to fight Russian propaganda in wake of Hunka incident

While Russia continues to blast Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for venerating a Nazi combatant in Parliament, Ottawa’s main website designed to fight Russian disinformation hasn’t been updated since the day before the incident.

During a visit to the House of Commons by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday, the Speaker of the House led a standing ovation for 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka, who had fought for Ukraine against the Russians in the Second World War, and was present at the event.

AOC reignites her war of words with Elon Musk by slamming his Eagle Pass border visit – as billionaire warns ‘some pretty extreme’ migrants including murderers are being allowed into the US

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Thursday accused a Stetson-wearing Elon Musk of taking a ‘joyride’ to the U.S.-Mexico border, after he traveled to the Texan city of Eagle Pass and warned some ‘pretty extreme people’ were arriving illegally.

Musk said he was concerned about stories of violent criminals finding their way into the country among those fleeing poverty and conflict. He discussed stories of people with gang tattoos on their faces being allowed to claim asylum, and said it was ‘insane’.

‘They have murdered someone and they are so proud of having murdered someone they tattoo one tear on their face for every person they have killed,’ said Musk.

Employers Hiring Apprentices Who ‘Self-Identify’ Get Double the Funds From Federally Funded Program

The British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) is offering double the funds to construction companies if they hire apprentices who self-identify as being part of an “equity deserving group.” The program is funded by the federal government.

BCCA’s Apprenticeship Service project pays companies $5,000 for every first-year apprentice they register in one of 39 Red Seal trades, according to a BCCA news release. The organization then offers double the funds, or $10,000, for every first-year apprentice registered who “self-identifies” as a woman, indigenous, disabled, or from the LGBT community.

Crooked cop was crooked & racist because she was fighting racism say supporters

Senior officer pleads guilty in Toronto police promotion cheating scandal

“Thursday’s agreed statement of fact also revealed that, while examining the content of Clarke’s cellphones, investigators came across messages she’d sent to an unnamed civilian member of the service and an unnamed employee of the Toronto police board.

Those messages were “inconsistent with the service’s commitment to anti-racism,” according to the document. No further description of the messages was provided.”

She was racist on account she was fighting racism.

“Promoted in 2020, Clarke is the first Black female superintendent in Toronto police history and has talked about the importance of diversifying police ranks. Her supporters — who’ve regularly tuned in to watch the case online, a group attending in person Thursday — have questioned whether Clarke was unfairly targeted for actions possibly taken to address systemic equity issues; among the officers she provided the answers to were fellow racialized cops.

“We have been saying that, while the allegations may be true, we felt that there was more to it, and we should look at the circumstances that may have contributed to the actions,” said David Betty, president of the Jamaican Canadian Association, who watched Clarke’s plea.

I posted on this last night but Neocon pointed the way to the Star’s version of events which proved much worse.

Federal government looking to cut $1 billion from National Defence budget

The Liberal government is looking to cut almost $1 billion from the annual budget of the Department of National Defence (DND) — a demand the country’s top military commander says is prompting some “difficult” conversations within the military.

Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Wayne Eyre and Deputy Minister of Defence Bill Matthews testified before the House of Commons defence committee late Thursday, where they acknowledged in more detail the ramifications of the federal government’s spending reduction plan.

“There’s no way that you can take almost a billion dollars out of the defence budget and not have an impact,” Eyre told the four-party committee. “This is something that we’re wrestling with now.”

Will they have to lay-off the transvesite make-up squad?

Scale of Alleged Biden Foreign Influence Peddling Unprecedented in History of D.C. Corruption, Impeachment Witness Testifies

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley, testifying during the first House impeachment inquiry hearing into President Joe Biden, said Thursday that while Washington, D.C., is “awash” with influence peddling, the “size and complexity” of the allegations against Biden and his family are unprecedented.

House leaders, he said, have a “duty” to determine if the president was involved in a pay-to-play scheme.

The racism of multiculturalism

I hate to call people dim, ill-informed or ‘low information’. But there’s really no other way to describe Britain’s liberal-left commentariat – and their latest barrage of takes on multiculturalism, sparked by home secretary Suella Braverman’s blockbuster speech in Washington, DC yesterday. Still, given many of the same scribblers have spent years calling Brexit voters far less polite things than dim, ill-informed and ‘low information’, I’m sure they can take it.
