Hollywood Shut Down for Five Months. Here’s What We’ve Learned.

The WGA has reached a tentative deal, but it’s just a temporary fix.

If you’ve tuned into TV at all in recent months, you may have noticed that most shows sounded rather familiar. Hollywood has been running reruns for five months while writers and actors picketed outside of major studio headquarters. This week, those picket lines may be getting shorter.

Poland’s education minister says he’s ‘taken steps’ to extradite Yaroslav Hunka

Poland’s education minister says he has “taken steps” to effect the extradition of Yaroslav Hunka, a 98-year-old Ukrainian Canadian, to Poland after it emerged that the veteran served in the Nazi SS Galizien formation during the Second World War.

On Friday, Hunka was invited to sit in the parliamentary gallery by Speaker Anthony Rota for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s address to Parliament. Rota introduced Hunka as a “Ukrainian hero” and a “Canadian hero,” prompting a standing ovation in the House of Commons.

Over the weekend, it emerged that Hunka was part of the First Ukrainian Division, also known as the Waffen-SS Galicia Division or the SS 14th Waffen Division, a voluntary unit that was under the command of the Nazis.

Nagorno-Karabakh: dozens feared dead and hundreds injured after fuel depot blast

Dozens of people are feared dead and hundreds more injured after a powerful explosion at a fuel storage depot in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, as thousands of ethnic Armenians streamed out of the breakaway territory after the Azerbaijani military reclaimed full control of it in a lightning offensive last week.

Local Armenian authorities said 20 people were confirmed to have died and 290 had been admitted to hospitals, dozens of them in critical condition, after the blast at the facility near the regional capital, Stepanakert, on Monday evening. The death toll is expected to rise significantly with more than 100 listed as missing.

Why is Hamas Sending Palestinians to Die at the Border with Israel?

During the past few days, the Iran-backed Palestinian terror group Hamas has again been encouraging Palestinians living under its rule in the Gaza Strip to march toward the border with Israel and attack Israelis. Similar protests in 2018, also encouraged and sponsored by Hamas, resulted in the death or injury of hundreds of Palestinians.

Those anti-Israel protests lasted for a year and ended without any noticeable achievements for Hamas. Israel agreed to ease some restrictions on the Gaza Strip, such as expanding the fishing zone three miles and allowing more raw material to be imported for civilian factories.

The View PANICS Trump Leading ABC Poll, Claim Pollsters Were ‘High’

With ABC News sounding the alarm over their own poll showing former President Trump leading President Biden by 10 points in a hypothetical head-to-head rematch, the cast of ABC’s The View were in a panic on Monday. The fact that the network they worked for was the one who conducted the poll meant little as they all took to attacking the results; with faux conservative Ana Navarro openly suggesting the pollsters were all “high” on “edibles or somethings” when they were asking the questions.

Canada’s parents will not be silenced

All across the country, thousands of parents took a stand against the indoctrination of their kids into gender ideology.

All across Canada last week, thousands of Canadians took to the streets to show the world they are not going to accept the indoctrination of their children into gender-identity ideology.

I had never expected this to happen. For years, Canadians have been bombarded with endless propaganda insisting ‘transwomen are women’. They’ve been told that anyone who opposes the teaching of extreme and nonsensical ideas about gender in schools must be a hateful bigot, or even a far-right extremist. It turns out that Canadians aren’t buying it. And so the plan to hold the ‘One Million March for Children’ was born.

Muslim Canadians express anger, concern after killing of Sikh leader

Muslim advocates in Canada have expressed anger and concern at allegations that India may have been involved in the killing of a Canadian Sikh leader, stressing that Muslim and Sikh Canadians have long supported each other.

Last week, a diplomatic dispute escalated between Ottawa and New Delhi after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said his government was investigating “credible allegations of a potential link” between Indian government agents and the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Justin’s greatest accomplishment has Canada divided into warring sectarian factions. Muslim, Hindu, Sikh – Leicester here we come.

CHARLEBOIS: Grocery chains, federal Liberals sizing up ‘shrinkflation’

Two issues have been particularly vexing for Canadian shoppers at the grocery store: Volume discounts, especially for seniors and those who live alone, and the phenomenon known as “shrinkflation.”

Over the last 12 months, shrinkflation has garnered significant attention due to substantial price hikes in grocery stores. Fortunately, some grocers are now taking action.

A typical bag of chips is about 80% air nowadays.

Trudeau’s unwillingness to apologize speaks to Canada’s diminishment on the world stage

As this newspaper went to press – remember when we said things like that? – Anthony Rota had not resigned as Speaker of the House of Commons. This is surprising.

After all, Mr. Rota inadvertently invited a man who served in an infamous Waffen SS unit during the Second World War to attend Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s address to the House of Commons, Friday.

City officials in Metro Vancouver have described signs advertising a “whites-only” social group for mothers and children as “vile garbage.”

Nord Stream explosion: A maze of speculation

It was 2 a.m. on September 26, 2022, when seismic monitoring stations in Denmark, Sweden and Germany registered a weak earth tremor.

At the same time, workers at the pipeline operator Nord Stream registered a sharp drop in pressure in the 1,200-kilometer (745-mile) gas pipes that connect Russia and Germany. As the sun rose over the Baltic Sea, giant bubbles of methane gas could be seen from the air near the Danish island of Bornholm. They were coming to the surface from about 80 meters (260 feet) underwater. Further tremors followed. Soon it became clear: Several sections of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines had been blown up.

A key component of German and European energy infrastructure had been destroyed.

India-Canada Clash Should Be a Wake-Up Call

For their own sake, Western nations must contend with the politics of the large and growing diaspora communities they host.

… Canada, in particular, has had a long history of tolerating supporters of militancy abroad. Even after 9/11 built pressure on all Western allies to root out supporters of terrorism, Ottawa resisted calls to clamp down on local financial support for Hezbollah.

Canadian communities also provided much of the financing for Sri Lanka’s Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam — who, famously, invented suicide bombing. A lot of that money was raised, according to human-rights activists, by intimidating Canadian citizens who still had relatives in Sri Lanka.

Now tensions have begun to flare domestically as well. Last year, violence between Hindus and Muslims broke out in the post-industrial town of Leicester, while Sikhs and Hindus clashed in the middle of downtown Melbourne in January. Two years earlier, a Hindu man who had been deported from Australia for allegedly attacking Sikhs was given a “hero’s welcome” when he returned to India.
