Harry and Meghan’s Downward Slide Accelerates as Their ‘Heart of Invictus’ Documentary Doesn’t Make Netflix Top 10

Might things be looking rosier for Prince Harry if he were a princess? According to audio tapes unheard until recently, the duke of Sussex’s mother, Princess Diana, said that at Harry’s christening in 1984, the prince of Wales at the time, King Charles, said, “We thought it would be a girl.”

That was not to be — nor, apparently, was Hollywood success a guarantee for the renegade royal despite his marriage to a former actress, Meghan Markle. Now, Harry’s “Heart of Invictus” documentary has failed to crack Netflix’s top 10 in both Britain and America since it was released last week.

Top Poilievre adviser says Conservatives are experiencing a ‘rejuvenation’

A key member of the brain trust that surrounds Pierre Poilievre says that the Conservative Party is undergoing a “rejuvenation” under the new leader, partially through outreach to several previously skeptical voting blocs.

“There’s been an evolution in terms of who the Conservative supporter is, who the Conservative voter is. Right now, we’re seeing an entirely new group of people … a new demographic of people that are looking at the Conservative Party and looking at Pierre Poilievre as being the next prime minister very seriously,” Jenni Byrne said in an interview with CBC’s The House airing Saturday.

Marian Shrine

Two years ago today we held Kathy’s funeral service.

I visited her resting place today. A light rain fell as I chatted away about just stuff. It is a lovely spot.

I mentioned The Marian Shrine has made the news. With luck they will declare it a Heritage site protecting it from demolition.

Kathy asked me to take her there on November 8 of 2020.

She wept in such sorrow there can be no way that God did not hear her. I stood numb beside her.

We walked by the river afterward and enjoyed the mild weather.

I both hate and cherish the memory along with many others from that time.

Mostly I just miss her company.

WARMINGTON: Politicians always have lots to say about wildfires, except when arson charges laid

There was no social media post on X from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about this little piece of news.

Same goes from Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault or former Environment Minister Catherine McKenna.

But police in Quebec have charged a man with arson for several allegedly deliberately set fires in northern Quebec in what was a major criminal investigation that could be the stuff of movies.

Conrad Black: Steven Guilbeault’s destructive crusade against Canadian prosperity

Canada’s minister of environment and climate change, Steven Guilbeault, has been an activist all of his conscient life.

He co-founded an organization that rejoiced in the name Action for Solidarity, Equity, Environment and Development. In 2001, when he was in his early 30s, he scaled the CN Tower like Spiderman to an altitude of 340 metres and unfurled a banner proclaiming “Canada and Bush — Climate Killers.”

Burning Man becomes a toxic wasteland

Whatever your idea of fun might be, it cannot possibly include a scenario in which you carry a bucket of your own stools

If any readers are having those September, back-to-work blues perhaps I might offer them a sure-fire palliative? Just go online and watch videos of this year’s Burning Man.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Burning Man is a week-long festival of music and “self-expression” which takes place in the Nevada desert. It is especially popular among libertarians and Silicon Valley types. It is a place where people pay huge sums of money to take drugs and imagine that they have had some unique insight into the world. Often they come away believing that if only all of life could be like this, the world would be cleaner and kindlier. Naturally each year they leave behind a toxic wasteland which requires hundreds of workers to tidy up after them. But I digress.

Mali jihadists kill dozens in twin attacks amid growing Islamist threat

Al-Qaida-linked militants have killed at least 64 people in twin attacks on an army base and a crowded passenger boat on the Niger River in northern Mali.

Extremists from the Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) appear to have targeted the Timbuktu boat on the river and an army position at Bamba, in the northern Gao region, with “a provisional toll of 49 civilians and 15 soldiers killed”, according to a government statement.

Earlier, the Malian army said on social media that the boat was attacked by “armed terrorist groups”.

Biden Administration Bypassing Americans, Violating US Law, to Appease Regime of Iran

The Biden administration has been accused of secretly bypassing US laws to reach a deal with Iran’s Islamist regime.

On August 10, the Biden administration apparently cut a “deal” excluding Congress and keeping the American people and U.S. regional allies in the dark — even though they are the ones who would be the most directly affected by a “deal.”

The Biden administration, determined, it seems, to continue appeasing the Iranian regime — called by the US State Department the leading state sponsor of terrorism — keeps indefatigably trying to revive then President Barack Obama’s 2015 “nuclear deal,” enabling Iran’s mullahs legitimately to have as many nuclear weapons as they like.

Michael Higgins: Student expelled for political views grilled over religious beliefs, choice of music

How hard can it be for a 17-year-old to get into school? Pretty hard, it turns out.

This week, Catholic school board officials interrogated Christian teen Josh Alexander about his Twitter account, a hit country song, firearms and mask mandates during a meeting about whether he will be allowed to go back to class.

China threatens ‘consequences’ over Canadian inquiry into alleged meddling

China is warning of “consequences” for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government unless it stops spreading “lies and false information” about alleged interference in Canadian affairs.

The Chinese embassy in Ottawa issued a stern statement on Friday, a day after Canada announced a public inquiry into meddling by China, Russia and other state and non-state actors in Canadian national elections in 2019 and 2021.
