Slow-selling EVs are the auto industry’s new headache

The U.S. electric vehicle market is growing, but not fast enough during the latest quarter to prevent unsold EVs from stacking up at some automakers’ dealerships or to allow Tesla to avoid new price cuts, according to analysts and industry data.

Rising inventories and price-cutting could represent only a short-term pause in EV market growth. But they could be signals that boosting U.S. EV sales above the current 7% market share level will be more costly and difficult than expected, even with federal and state subsidies. Automakers North America have billions of dollars in EV-related investments riding on how the next several quarters play out. If production of EVs continues to outpace demand, automakers will have to choose between slashing prices and profit margins, or slowing assembly lines.

EV’s have a niche as a status symbol for now. Once their many drawbacks become more widely known they will be avoided based solely on their impracticallity.

Blair Doubles Down in Blaming CSIS for His Not Receiving Intel on Beijing Threat to MPs

Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair says staff in his office and department aren’t to blame for not informing him of Beijing threats to MPs and has repeated that Canada’s spy agency is at fault.

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) “had Top Secret information that they felt that I should see, and clearly, the process that they had in place to bring it to my attention was not complete, and did not bring it to my office’s attention and that’s now been remedied,” Mr. Blair said in a press conference in Ottawa on July 11.

Scientists at center of Covid lab leak ‘cover-up’ admit decision to downplay theory was ‘political’ because they feared a ‘s***show from China’

High-profile scientists caught up in the controversy over Covid’s origins have admitted the decision to play down the lab leak theory was political.

Internal Slack communications obtained by a House subcommittee investigating the early days of the pandemic showed how scientists who wrote a paper dismissing the idea of a lab accident feared retribution from the Chinese government.

Dr Andrew Rambaut, a biologist at the University of Edinburgh, was a co-author of the March 2020 Nature Medicine research article titled ‘The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2’ which degenerated believers of the lab leak theory as conspiracy theorists and racists.

Twisted: Parents, staff demand TDSB force your child to attend drag queen storytime

Parents and staff are demanding that the Toronto District School Board stop allowing students to opt out of drag queen storytime events.

Toronto Pflag and the board’s 2SLGBTQ+ Community Advisory Committee have been advocating unsuccessfully for weeks since the issue over attendance and consent arose at a Pride celebration at Bruce Public School in early June. They say the opt-out violates the Ontario Human Rights Code and are calling for an apology for the harm caused by the decision. The board, they add, has not been particularly responsive.

The TDSB is saying no to the Groomers by passing the blame to the province though I believe the fear of a Muslim community in revolt motivates their decision.

Gonna need more popcorn.

A Pandemic of Cruelty

There is a pandemic in the Western world — especially, but not only, in America — that few are talking about, let alone addressing.

This pandemic doesn’t actually kill people. But it does destroy people, ruin lives, crush families and cause permanent, debilitating pain – far more than have the vast majority of cases of COVID-19.

This pandemic consists of adult children who have decided never again to speak to one or both of their parents. The vast majority of these people were never sexually or physically abused. In fact, nearly all were loved by their parents.
