Election Interference! Twitter Files Pull Back Curtain on Big Tech-Gov’t Censorship Campaign

The Twitter Files pulled back the curtain on a massive election interference campaign. Now, the House Judiciary Committee is set to grill FBI Director Christopher Wray and others about how the government colluded with Big Tech to censor Americans’ free speech rights.

Twitter owner Elon Musk shocked the internet when he released secret internal documents to certain reporters who uncovered how the FBI, a plethora of other government agencies and leftist elites colluded with Twitter employees to swing the election for Joe Biden and protect him in his presidency. As MRC Free Speech America Vice President Dan Schneider described it, “The FBI was conspiring and coercing Big Tech to do what it couldn’t legally on its own. They were censoring speech and silencing their political opposition.”

Corporate ethics czar launches forced-labour probes into Nike, Dynasty Gold in China

OTTAWA – Ottawa’s corporate-ethics watchdog has announced investigations into a gold-mining corporation and the Canadian branch of Nike for possible forced labour in supply chains.

Sheri Meyerhoffer, who is the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise, says the first two investigations her office has launched related to China’s Uyghur minority.

I suspect Canada’s China Class has nothing to fear.

How Anheuser-Busch and Budweiser lost their crown as the King of Beers after $20 billion Dylan Mulvaney debacle

Sales of Bud Light have been plummeting since their partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney – with two maps showing how far the King of Beer has fallen since April.

… But the biggest difference come as the beer failed to place as a top choice for any state in the US over the July 4 holiday weekend.

Modelo Especial came out on top, with Coors Light a close second, but both Bud Light and Budweiser were nowhere to be seen across all 50 states.

Canada has promised more than $1.5B in military aid to Ukraine.

Canada has committed more than $8 billion to Ukraine since Russia’s February 2022 invasion, including over $1.5 billion in military aid.

That imprecise number — trumpeted in Department of National Defence news releases with each promise of weapons, vehicles or ammo — ticked upward in June after months at “over $1 billion.” (As a point of reference, Canada’s defence budget in 2022-23 is roughly $36 billion a year, the department says.)

Zelensky slams Biden’s ‘unprecedented and absurd’ stance on NATO membership

VILNIUS, Lithuania — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky tore into NATO leaders including President Biden on Tuesday for not extending membership to his war-torn country — introducing fresh diplomatic drama into the annual gathering of the military alliance’s leaders.

Zelensky slammed the reticence as “weakness” and “absurd” just moments after Biden referred to the development of new non-public language laying out steps for NATO ascension.

GOLDSTEIN: Trudeau’s policies are killing economic growth, report says

The Trudeau government is stifling Canada’s economic growth, leading to irreparable societal divisions unless the trend is reversed, warns Statistics Canada’s former chief economic analyst.

In an essay for the fiscally conservative Fraser Institute — “What is Behind Canada’s Growth Crisis?” — Philip Cross cites a recent report by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development which “forecasts that Canada’s per capita GDP growth between 2020 and 2060 will be the lowest among its 29 member nations” without fundamental changes in government’s attitude to growth.

Justin Trudeau is a stupid hateful person.

Brothers, 21, and 18, who plotted to join ISIS from their bedroom in Birmingham and threatened former Prime Minister David Cameron admit terror charges

A pair of baby-faced brothers who plotted to join ISIS from their bedroom in Birmingham have admitted terror offences.

Muhammad Abdul Haleem Heyder Khan and younger sibling Muhammad Hamzah Heyder Khan had made preparations to travel to Afghanistan when they were arrested on November 2, last year.

The 21 and 18-year-old were found to have encouraged others to ‘shed’ the blood of non-believers, as well as threatened former Prime Minister David Cameron.

Immigration Backlashes Spread Around the World

Record immigration to affluent countries is sparking bigger backlashes across the world, boosting populist parties and putting pressure on governments to tighten policies to stem the migration wave.

Many places, including Canada and parts of Europe and Asia, have been encouraging more migrants to come to help alleviate labor shortages and offset demographic declines.

But the jump in arrivals, along with increases in illegal immigration to the U.S. and Europe, is making more voters uneasy. The influx since the end of the pandemic is altering societies, with many people blaming immigrants for increases in crime and higher housing costs.

And this from a NYTimes newsletter I get …

… In earlier eras, the political left in the U.S. included many figures who worried about the effects of large-scale immigration. Both labor leaders and civil-rights leaders, for example, argued for moderate levels of immigration to protect the interests of vulnerable workers.

“There is a reason why Wall Street and all of corporate America likes immigration reform, and it is not, in my view, that they’re staying up nights worrying about undocumented workers in this country,” Bernie Sanders said in 2015. “What I think they are interested in is seeing a process by which we can bring low-wage labor of all levels into this country to depress wages for Americans, and I strongly disagree with that.”

… Democrats frequently like to point out the many ways in which Republicans are out of step with public opinion, including on abortion bans, the minimum wage, taxes on the wealthy and background checks for gun owners. Immigration cuts the other way, polls show. It is a subject on which much of the Democratic Party, like the political left in Europe, is in a different place than many voters.

I remember how shocked Progressives were when Bernie’s views on immigration became widely known during his run for the Democrat nomination. I give him credit for being an Old School  Lefty on immigration.

Barbara Kay: When They Say ‘We’re Coming for Your Children,’ Believe Them

Wall of Transgender Heroines

For years, Canadians have proved amenable to demands for basic rights, but also to entitlements, for those who identify, variously, as “trans,” “non-binary” or “queer.” These entitlements, even those encroaching on women’s rights, are supported by government and most media. They extend into all our cultural, therapeutic, and social institutions.

The only domain in which we are witnessing a groundswell of citizen resistance is K–12 pedagogy, where Queer Theory—a gendered form of Marxism that rejects the “normal” in sexuality, including  the notion of childhood “innocence”—is systematically imposed on vulnerable minds, with or without parental consent. Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) has become the cynosure of parental disquiet.

Auto Unions Balk at Biden’s Plans To Force Americans Into Electric Vehicles

In a rare show of solidarity, American automakers and the unions representing their employees are begging the Biden administration to back off on its aggressive efforts to force Americans into electric vehicles in the name of combating climate change.

Leaders of the United Auto Workers union asked President Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency to water down a proposal to make upcoming emissions standards for internal combustion engines much stricter by 2027. The new standards would effectively require that two-thirds of all vehicles sold in the United States be electric by 2032.

Brown-John: Electric vehicles may come at substantial cost

… Another concern pertains to Ontario’s electrical grid which at the moment does not have sufficient capacity to service thousands of EV chargers. Don’t forget we’re also shifting away from natural gas to produce electricity.

The Ford government has been adding natural gas generators as a stop-gap measure to meet immediate needs. But this could preclude Ontario from accessing federal government carbon reduction incentives intended to reduce carbon emissions.

So, the obvious question is how in the long run does Ontario generate sufficient electricity to service thousands of EV chargers?

A good article illustrating the Cloudcuckooland inhabited by Trudeau and the like.
